the curse. SO the curse is placed on barnaby for being a selfish rich shithead. BUT because we like to have fun here it’s also tied into trauma stuff for him. so he lives very selfishly because he believes he has a right to it but doesn’t extend that same courtesy to others. so when the enchantress shows up at his door one evening and asks for shelter he casts her away because he looks down on asking others for help as like. a weakness. so thats a whole thing. 

the more selfishly and cruelly he acts the more beast mode he is FDHSJKF think like that oni han au. also just emotional flareups in general correspond with curse flareups. when ko first meets him he’s just Wildin The Fuck Out but then when he like. goes and cools off he’s more humanlike. *ko voice* Wait What The Fuck

because i love ‘they meet in their respective bad places au’ tiger definitely is like . ‘yeah im gonna stay at this weird castle place just for a while. just scope it out. just see what happens. definitely not using this insane fantasy place as an escape for my actual relatively crap life’

as for the curse being broken by true love because it’s tied up in aforementioned trauma stuff it’s not gonna be like. ‘they fall in love and then he’s a normal human again!’ it’s more like ‘they fall in love and the beast mode stuff becomes easier to control’ because we like a complex story in this house. its a process
