Soft light, the smell of grape juice, a voice retelling their day, the dip of the couch when you lean back, the warmth from the fireplace— that's what Diluc Ragnvindr's senses caught.
The flames from the fireplace in the Dawn Winery illuminated on your face as you talked, a glass of grape juice that he prepared especially for you was in your hand.
His eyes stared at you while your lips moved and occasionally let out a small smile when your eyes would lock in a gaze with his, both of your bodies close enough that your knees almost touched.
Diluc wanted it to but he didn't dare.
Because he is careful with affection,
That is simply his nature, to restrain affection because he didn't want to make you feel overwhelmed.
Even when he doesn't.
It wasn't that he doesn't yearn for your affection— the problem is that he doesn't know if he was allowed to even be this close to you.
Even when your arms wrapped around him and your lips pressed against him, his hands hovers for a moment before settling on your waist.
His touch never linger for too long;
His hand on the small of your back— not totally pressed but just enough for you to feel its there,
His fingers grazing against yours deliberately but never truly holding your hand— just enough for you to know he's still there beside you as you both walked,
And you simply thought that maybe Diluc is simply not clingy, which is funny because what he really wants is to press his face on your neck and nuzzle against it absentmindedly when the night feels a bit colder than usual and he wants slow sleepy kisses in the morning with you tucked in his chest.
That is not the definition of not clingy.
So when he found out that you welcomed his affection, that you also yearned for his affection while whispering sleepily one night, "I want you to hold me more,"—
Diluc melts.
And suddenly his touches lingers more, kisses become more frequent— slower and needier yet reverent all at once, arms slithered around your waist while pulling you closer whenever possible.
Because all he wanted was you, and all he needed to hear was that you also want his affection as much as he wants yours.
I feel like "enjoying depictions of problematic people and dynamics in fiction isn't the same as commending it in real life" should be obvious to any literate adult, but too many people online can't handle anything more complicated than children's cartoons
The internet loves joking about toxic yuri as a vague concept but I feel like if I actually talked about any specific toxic yuri I enjoy I'll be crucified instantly

Ayato stands just outside of range of the area parameters, you; distracted by your phone on the other side of the screen, having quickly pulled it out during the loading screen, and stays unaware as the brief period allows a respite.
"Well." La Signora grunts out, hand on her hip, spawning in, an icy mist sweeping up around her "how long has it been this time?"
"A year." Ayato calls out from across the room "How has timelessness been?"
"as well as you could guess." she glares
"...Rosalyne?"
Signoras' eye widens as her head snaps to the shorter woman who appears just behind Ayato, the crescent moon like a shining beacon as Ayato steps to the side to allow Columbina to look out onto the battle field.
"You-" Signora falters, nose scrunching "Oh come on, First it was Childe, then Arlecchino- next its going to be that Doctor turning up, how embarrassing..."
"it's good to see you," Columbina says softly, head tilting. "I didn't know youd still-"
"I'm not." Signora says flatly. "Im just a memory. nothing more."
Columbina falls quiet
"but im glad to see you too." she sighs "literally. do i spot little miss angel finally taking off her veil again? It's been some time since I last saw you without it"
"I've made a few friends thanks to the Traveller and their guide," Columbina responds, gesturing to the group behind her, Baizhu and Ineffa now joining them, the loading screen now finished as the three bring out the weapons before turning to her "ah- We're here to-"
"Fight me, yes. I know." Signora flicks her fringe away from her cheek. "You must be the guides' newest unit if you're spending your precious free time talking to me"
"I miss you."
she bows her head.
"Hah..." Signora watches as a golden shimmer takes over Columbina, and she's guided forwards.

Her eyes spark with an icy sheen and a touch of regret "Hah- haha, you're trembling.. is it the cold? or just cowardice?"
You blink in surprise as you look down at the screen, the cutscene seemed a little... different today. you shrug it off, maybe its just been a while since you last let it play out
