just thinking about how Astarion would be both envious and fascinated by his lover's mortality. vampires are supposed to be the most desirable thing in the world, yet there is nothing quite like the beauty of someone alive to these creatures. The slow breathing when sleep takes over, the heat and the cold on skin that doesn't feel quite like the chill of the undead, because it's part of someone who is alive and healthy, the smell and taste of salty sweat, the soft rise of chest and shoulders when they breathe, the fingernails and hair that keep growing, the sudden sneeze that can't be helped and completely throws a stealth mission off the rails, the scars, the wounds that bleed, the beating of a heart that hasn't be silenced yet, the wetness that fills the eyes, the yawns after a long day when sleep is all that matters, the sight exposed skin under the burning sun while he, the hunter lurks in the shadows, because what is alive is deadly and beautiful.
