'Only one bed' except one's been beaten half to death and they're still pretending they hate each other.

Rolan was sitting now, adjusting to the idea of being vertical. His balance was off, and he was sure the faint ringing was coming from his left ear and not his surroundings. But he could make it back to his lodgings if he walked slowly enough. “How far are we from the tavern, exactly?” he asked. Hesperia stood up and walked slowly over to Rolan. “For someone so intelligent, you are remarkably stupid. I’m offering my bed for the night, the least you could do is accept it with grace.” Rolan looked dumbly at the embroidered sheets. “Your bed.” Of course it was hers—it even smelled of her. “Not with me in it, of course,” she said, and Rolan almost laughed at how flustered she sounded. “Gods, just lie down, Rolan.” And then he did laugh, just a little. The idea of her sleeping beside him seemed to induce some mania that must have been the product of several blows to the head, because he could imagine it, quite vividly; the tickle of her hair, the way her small frame might perfectly slot against his. He lay down just so he could avoid eye contact for a few blessed moments.

I’ve been working on Act 2 stuff for Ellie and my god is it bleak. I needed to make something silly and cute and what better way to do that than to torture Rolan?
