I'm excited for this one. MiniMoni are one of my top favorite duos in the group. They have such a high level of emotional and intellectual respect for each other. Their relationship truly is unique and very special. Like every other duo, they have their questionable moments, the eyebrow raising moments, the "sus" moments. Their boundaries are non existent, just like all of BTS together. No, I don't see any romance at all between MiniMoni, but I see a very high level of love that is shared between the two of them. I just think that it's platonic love. Disclaimer, these are all my personal opinions. You are free to agree or not, but we should all be able to agree that their bond together is beautiful at least. Let's talk about MiniMoni!
We can see their close bond in their comfort level with each other with the lack of boundaries. We can see their physical bond in the way they cuddle. We see it in how Namjoon is not one to always reach for the physical affection and is one of the least touchy members, but he often is happy to accept and even seeks out physical affection from Jimin. We see it the way that they are unable to sit next to each other without having their hands on each other at some point. Thighs, shoulder, chest... one of them will have a hand on it at some point and there the hand will stay. Lol we see this bond in the way that when Jimin told us about how he felt someone in between his legs in the shower as he washed his face and he automatically assumed it was just Namjoon. (Why, Jimin, why would Namjoon be your first assumption here?? Lmao) Turns out it was no one and now Jimin believes in ghosts. When Joon played the word association game and for Pet said Jimin (?). When looking at the candy at the popup store, Namjoon said he wished the lollipops had Jimin on them. Or when they compliment each other on working out or their muscles while literally leaning over and groping the other person and feeling up their muscles at the same time.
We see it in the way they enjoy their moments on stage together, from Namjoon hugging on Jimin, pinching his cheeks or poking his fingers over his lips, to Jimin backhugging Joon, or squishing his face or burying himself into his neck. We see their comfort together and their bond After they reacted to their concert on one of their DVDs, Jimin said "let's hug now" and cuddled into Namjoon, and Joon responded with "let's try kissing each other." Okay Namjoon, okay. Namjoon finds Jimin super attractive and cute and never fails to let us know! He calls him Mochi Sexy, flexible, small and has a doll face, a natural charming type of sexy. Jimin is always reminding us how handsome and smart and wonderful and muscular Namjoon is too. Namjoon also finds Jimin insanely cute and literally melts into a puddle, big smiles, hiding his giggles, eye smile and dimples on full display everytime he gets overly fond over Jimin being cute and he just can't help himself.
Let's not forget about the viral fancam of Jimin looking like an angel sent from heaven that made everyone go crazy and have the locals asking who he is.... he was staring at Namjoon like that the whole time while he gave his speech. Lol quite the moment:

We can see how close they are through their emotional bond too. We see this bond in the way they cherish each other, think of each other, and are there for each other. In 2020 Festa, RM described Jimin as his friend. Not his dongsaeng, but his friend. And he wrote it in aeygo basically, making it a cuter way of saying friend. Essentially dropping the formalities between them with the age hierarchy. He gave him the puppy award in 2021 Festa as well. Jimin during 2021 Festa said that RM was his hyung that is more like a friend. Again, hinting at that drop of formality that RM allows him to have. When talking about Jimin on Let's BTS, RM says he is an amazing omnidirectional idol who can do anything and a true friend. They say often that they share similar mindsets, but are different enough too.
We can see their emotional connection in the way that RM will let his walls down with Jimin, how lean on him in his leadership duties and be willing to take advice and talk to him about his personal thoughts and/or struggles. A great example of that would be during BV4, ep 6, we see minimoni sitting around the campfire together and JM comforting NJ about how stressed he has been working on their album and keeping things going for the group. We see it again during Festa 2019 when Jimin shared that he and Namjoon talked for 4 hours before their schedule about his leadership and how he needs to trust the members and lean on them more. The fact that Jimin feels comfortable approaching his hyung with these conversations and to give him advice. The trust Namjoon shows in allowing himself to be vulnerable in those conversations, it speaks volumes to how close they are. We see it in the way Joon talked about how much it meant to him when Jimin visited him on the Persona MV set and cheered for him too.
Let's not forget about Namjoon bought Jimin a Cartier ring engraved with his initials (JM), for his birthday. How before giving Jimin this very expensive ring ($3350), he created a group chat with the rest of the members other than Jimin to tell them that he bought him this uber expensive gift, and not to feel bad or obligated to buy Jimin something expensive too just because Joon did. And how Jimin was spotted wearing it for a long time afterwards and it was so sweet. How Namjoon has called Jimin his most reliable friend and thanks him for always letting him lean on him when needed. Jimin babies Namjoon so often. He is younger and smaller than him, but Jimin is always looking out for him, giving him encouragement, pats and rubs after long speeches, proud smiles given left and right. He is often making sure he knows that even though he is their leader, he has his hyungs and he has Jimin and they are there to take care of him too. Namjoon has said that he may be small and seem like the baby of the group a lot, but that he is often times like the hyung of the group, can be extremely mature, wise and often the most adult like of the members.
We also just got Namjoon on Weverse showcasing their beautiful bond when he replied to Jimins post asking everyone to be happy saying, "I'm happy because of you." And I melted. We see their bond when Joon makes himself smaller in order to make jimin happy and make him feel tall. And we see the same thing in the teasing he does about being taller than Jimin too. We see this bond in whenever Jimin gets hurt and if Joon is around he automatically turns to him to "make it better," Yeah, he is Joon's baby too. We see it in the way they watched the fireworks together and said I love you in AHL, and how fireworks reminds them of that time together too. We see it in the way they stargaze and watched the moon together, creating poems about it. We see it in the way they embrace their messy roommate status together.
We see their bond in the way they connect so well intellectually too and how they are always engaging in deep conversations and helping each other learn new things. We see it in the way Jimin helped teach Namjoon how to play pool or helping him learn other random skills. How Joon is comfortable being in a position where he let's Jimin teach him and expresses his wish to learn about things to Jimin, who is always ready to help. Or how Jimin patiently works with him to teach him dance moves and help him practice over and over, like when he taught him the Own It dance. We see it in the way they talk about lyrics and music together. How Jimin trusts and Calls Namjoon for help with his lyrics as he writes. How hard they worked on Promise together with Joon helping with the English translations. Namjoon is the biggest promise enthusiast. Or how Jimin said he called NJ late at night to ask for help with Christmas Love, and that he dropped what he was doing and made room in his busy schedule to help Jimin get started on writing his verses. How Jimin asks Namjoon for help with his English often and learns from him. They hold extremely high levels of respect for each other. Namjoon has said that if Jimin was a girl, he would be someone he wants to date. He has also said that if his sister was going to date a member, he would want it to be Jimin. Minimoni have similar interests and love spending time together. We see that in all their vlives together, how often they use their unit name, the way they talk about seeing each other outside of work often too. We see it in their bike ride dates they have gone on over the years. We see it in the way that they both love art/culture and talking about it together. We see it in the way they have fun together too.
We can see their bond in the way that Namjoon allows himself to break down with Jimin and how Jimin can speak for Namjoon at times when he is overly emotional, conveying his thoughts and feelings for him with Namjoon nodding and confirming, yes that is what he wanted to say. We see it in the way they tease each other mercilessly but also are quick to compliment the other too. They play like puppies together, Jimin allowing Namjoon to feel happy and welcome to join the silliness of the maknae line and be one of the younger kids with them on occasion, letting go of his leadership stress. We see how well they work together and how easy it is for them to bounce ideas off each other and encourage each other during AHL and over the years too.
Do I see romance here? No, not at all. I don't see any type of desire for more between them than what they already have. They don't appear to have that kind of chemistry of intention behind their interactions either. I see an intense admiration and respect that goes both ways. I see a lot of platonic love and happiness shared. I see a connection and joy in spending time together. I see the absolute best of friends who trust and value each other. I see people who depend on each other and embrace the others strengths and encourage each other. I'm so so glad that they have each other. They are definitely one of the closest pairs in the group to each other in my opinion.
I'm also including this Bangtan Bomb of MiniMoni having the time of their life together because everytime I watch it, it gives me immense amounts of joy.
