Shelagh Turner: Nurse and midwife in action
This has to be one of my favourite scenes from āCall the Midwifeā!
Call the MidwifeĀ (2012 ā ā )
In the East End I found grace and faith and hope hidden in the darkest corners. I found tenderness and squalor and laughter amid filth. I found a purpose and a path, and I worked with a passion for the best reason of all - I did it for love.
When people have no love to live for, itās so very easy to fill that void with hate.
Dr Myra (via kedb1)
Sister, Iāve seen so many cesareans at close quarters. Iāve even assisted in stitching. We have the instruments we need. Weāre skilled enough, and desperate enough. [ā¦]Ā Iām not pleading, Iām saying again that we have no choice. And I want that to be a powerful thing. A thing that makes survival possible. Not a miserable, grinding version of āno choiceā, which means weāll have two bodies to bury in one coffin in the morning.

Would I show my body off if I was thinner? Probably not, because my body is mine. But sometimes Iām curious to know if I would have been as successful if I wasnāt plus-size. I think I remind everyone of themselves. Not saying everyone is my size, but itās relatable because Iām not perfect, and I think a lot of people are portrayed as perfect, unreachable and untouchable.
