You should be a GREAT writer, and be passionate about something in the arts, athletics, or academics. *__* What is Learnivore? Learnivore (learnivore.com) is a Boston-based start-up that helps people to find local instructors, classes and friends, in 100+ fields. Learnivore’s mission is to ensure that no interest goes unexplored, no opportunity uncaptured. We do this by connecting people to local instructors, classes and friends, and providing a way for anyone—whether a formal instructor or not—to share their passions and make money from them. Learnivore makes the world a better, richer place, a place where people make more meaningful connections and can make a living doing the things they love. Learnivore had a soft-launch in summer of 2014. Since then, we have been working on building our instructor base across all of our disciplines in 8 key cities: Boston, NYC, San Francisco, LA, Chicago, Seattle, Washington D.C. and Austin. This summer we will be doing formal launches in each of those cities. The interns participating in this program will be an integral part of those launches. YOU. CEO’s words:
Why so much? Because I find it works wonders in weeding out the people who are not a good fit. I received over a thousand applications last year, but only about 100 completed them fully. Of those, I hired 36. So it's pretty selective, but if you are a good fit and can convey that, your odds are pretty good. Please review all application instructions before applying. Apply Now

5 Things You Can Do If You Don't Have a Spring Internship
by Kandia Moore
1.Get an Internship
There are definitely still internships out there. Don't think you're too late.
Some companies may just be realizing that they need to hire a spring intern. Or maybe some great company turned down all their applicants because they're waiting for the perfect intern, which could be you.
You don’t have to give up now. Keep searching and applying. Speak with a professor or mentor who might be able to work with you to create a personalized internship. If you really want an internship this spring, you can get one.
2. Volunteer
Howard offers many opportunities to serve the community. Not all volunteering is shelving cans at a food pantry or cleaning cages at an animal shelter. There are other ways to volunteer and help people while also preparing for your career.
Many volunteer positions will give you a proper title and will look just as good on your resume as an internship.
Just because you’re a volunteer doesn’t mean you have to put the work in a separate section of your resume, or use the word “volunteer” in your title. It’s work experience. Put it there, and list your job duties just like you would an internship.
Many nonprofits need consistent part-time help but can’t afford to hire people to fill the roles they desperately need filled. Many places like museums and libraries use volunteers to do their admin work.
Check out VolunteerMatch.org, a great place to look for volunteer positions that will give you transferable skills. You could be surprised at the variety of administrative and creative positions that are available to you. The only difference between those and regular jobs is that they require a fewer number of hours per week and that they’re unpaid.
3. Focus on School
You don’t have to do something extra every semester of every year. You could really hone in and get that 4.0, 3.5 or whatever academic goal you want to set.
Plenty of people only did one or even zero internships in college, lived to tell about it, and even got jobs.
4. Beat the Masses to the Summer Internships
While everyone else is carrying the load of school, jobs, and interning, you'll have some extra time on your hands. Use it to find the perfect summer internship, and get hired before anyone else even starts updating their resumes.
Don’t just sit and wait for the summer openings to come to you. Try to find contacts at your dream companies and reach out to them about their summer needs.
Perfect your resume. Do mock interviews. Be ready for the summer before any of the spring interns have even started to think about it.
5. Do Something for Yourself
With student loans and job search competition, we often get caught up in the race against others to become employed and independent after graduation.
It may seem like everyone has a spring internship and is therefore really far ahead of you.
That isn’t necessarily true. Don’t let yourself stress about it all semester or worry that you’re falling behind. Instead of focusing on what everyone else is doing, take this semester as an opportunity to grow.
Start working out, read those books that have been gathering dust on the desk in your dorm, whatever it is you need to do.
If you take care of yourself you'll probably feel a whole lot better about not having that spring internship. You might even be thankful for the break.
