They aren't the most ideal couple though,
Do I love them and do I think they deserve to at least have a good chance at romance? Yes. Do I want them to at least experience pain and see them cry together? Also Yes.
I want them, but not to the point where they destroy each other completely. Maybe there are only a few cracks here and there.
Toby's got issues, and so does Jeff, but two multiplied negatives make a positive right...?
- They're somewhat each other's first romantic partner. They have no experience whatsoever which leads them to a path of many, many mistakes but also discoveries.
- Toby is Jeff's type for sure. He just happened to be at the right place at the right time!
- Toby's codependent, uh oh. He needs the feeling of security in this relationship even if it is overboard at times. Jeff is completely oblivious to this. To Toby, whatever Jeff word is law.
- They take turns patching each other up, Toby's more hesitant however, and insists that he doesn't need to especially because of his CIPA. Jeff objects to this and worries about Toby's bleeding wounds even if he cannot feel pain. He doesn't want to show his worry though.
- Jeff's big on smoking cigs to calm down and the scent makes Toby uncomfortable because it reminds him of his father. Jeff found this out and now whenever he smokes he makes sure he's rooms away from Toby, as well as making sure to somehow rid the smell of the cigarettes.
- Face scar kisses are important to them both. Caressing and holding each other's face scars is so romantic to them. It shows the trust and bond between them.
- Toby's a bit of a germaphobe, but Jeff likes bringing gross icky stuff back home. Like sick forms of trophies to show off to his boyfriend.
- Toby got that internalized homophobia in him 100% Daddy told him man should only marry woman :(
- Leading to Toby being very VERY hesitant about dating Jeff at first
- Wouldn't even hold his hand until like a month and two weeks into the relationship. Yikes!
- And speaking of which! Toby is also hesitant about any form of physical affection out in public. Just- in general.
- Jeff wonders if Toby's ever ashamed that he's dating Jeff. Especially because of his appearance.
- Jeff's ideal romantic scenario is making out in the rain with Toby.
- They often share the same music taste and like listening together, even when they're just chilling and not doing anything- it's a vibe yo!
- Toby likes to watch Jeff sleep, late in the night when he hasn't yet.
- Jeff likes to watch Toby sleep early in the morning when he hasn't woken up yet.
- Jeff would rather rip off the rest of his remaining hair than break down in front of Toby over whatever he's upset about. He is not weak.
- That doesn't mean he finds Toby weak for having stressful breakdowns in Jeff's arms though. No that's completely different!
- They don't talk about their pasts and struggles for God knows how long until one of them has to give in. (It was Toby, he gave in first...)
- They also don't talk about the Slenderman. No sir, not in this house!
- Jeff loses sleep at night sometimes when Toby has constant nightmares and jolts awake in the middle of the night hyperventilating. Toby apologizes for it every time but Jeff says it's alright. (That doesn't stop Toby from feeling guilty though)
- Toby finds Jeff's scent to be comforting and likes leaning into Jeff and his hoodie whilst snuggling with him in their shared bedroom.
- Jeff finds everything that Toby does to be amusing, adorable, and even endearing. Even when it's objectively weird at times.
- However, Jeff also loves how he knows how dangerous Toby actually is and it's always a fun game changer in their dynamic.
- Even if he doesn't want to admit it, Jeff's the more emotionally charged and angry one, constantly ranting and sounding like a madman. For Toby, the poor boy had to grow up meek and accept any form of wrath he was subjected to, that was until the night he snapped. He can get just as emotionally charged as Jeff whenever he could but he'd rather just listen to Jeff's rampant rants. (Praying that he isn't the cause of this rage)
- Arguments between them end up in one or both of them crying but obviously they don't want the other to see, so one of them storms off and only comes back home hours after midnight with the other one waiting on them not even bothering to sleep until the other returns. They sleep it off, apologize in the morning, rinse and repeat. Stubborn those two.
- Jeff would never want to hurt Toby intentionally, he's just very unperturbed as hell when it comes to dealing with both his and Toby's emotions.
- Jeff also deals with night terrors though, specifically about that night. He wants to be sure that he would never ever hurt Toby the same way he hurt everyone else he truly loved back.
- Jeff doesn't want to admit it but he is scared. But he's good at covering it up especially since it's physically impossible for his face to give it away
- Toby doesn't want to admit it but he is scared too. He's just worse at hiding it.
- The biggest reason Toby was super hesitant about getting into a relationship was the fear he would end up just like his father.
- Jeff had to assure him countless nights while soothing him that he was nothing like that man and he would never be like that man.
- When Toby comes to a realization that he may have accidentally copied or attained similar abusive traits of his abuser (i.e.: tone of voice, speech patterns and remarks, aggressive actions.) He breaks down completely and ostracizes himself from everyone for HOURS. That includes Jeff. So Jeff gives him space until he's ready and does his best to comfort Toby.
- Comforting isn't Jeff's thing to be perfectly honest. He had no idea how to do such things since he himself had never been comforted in his life. However he is an animal that learns to adapt, he learned to be patient and caring for Toby.
- They once robbed a convenience store and stole some supplies to do facial care together though.
- Toby likes combing through Jeff's impossible tangled bird's nest of hair. What the fuck Jeff clean that shit from time to time!
- They get hot and bothered with each other if they come back looking hot from a fresh kill or even if they're covered in blood. (Freaks.)
- Jeff and Toby get each other in a fucked up way no one else ever could. That's what makes their dynamic so interesting. They're cynical assholes but somehow confide and find comfort in each other.
