Haven't seen anyone talking about it here, but vocal transfeminist and writer Tara Knight has been sent a threat from the fbi insisting that she stop speaking about "radical gender ideology" and get rid of the past 3 years of her work.
A black trans woman is getting personally threatened by the fbi for being a transfeminist. What the fuck. Hopefully this gets more reach than my usual posts so that people who are able to can support her.
Why the FBI targeting a trans woman of color affects all of us and how we should respond.
"The ultimate goal of this specific act of repression is not just to subjugate trans people, but to erase the very fact of trans existence from public life and legal recognition. They’re not afraid of people like this building an army, they’re terrified of them building an audience. I am here to suggest that maybe they should be afraid of us building an army."
tried to fuck a marxist-leninist girl and she called my dick and balls "plainly ahistorical and deeply unserious"

More Updates on Deaths in Iran
Saghar Etemadi (22), one of the protesters, died after regime forces shot her in the face. She fought for her life and finally passed a few hours ago.
Some are reporting that at least 20 people were killed just in the city of Ilam, which raises the estimates discussed in this post.
These are real people risking their lives to fight for freedom. Don't let their sacrifices be in vain. Don't turn your back on Iran.
All eyes on Iran.

I think a lot of people underestimate how important it is that marginalized and exploited people are given credibility. There's lots of ways to do this, but one important way is helping them reach a position where they can speak out as experts on their fields.
Basically, a lot of people view marginalized and oppressed people as naive, incompetent, and childlike, and this impression does a lot of harm.
If somebody who considers themself an activist isn't working to give marginalized/oppressed people credibility and challenge these kinds of infantilizing assumptions, they're being negligent in their work.

"Free Gaza" added to the giant statue of the iconic German Communist Party leader Ernst Thälmann. Seen in Berlin.
This is vandalism I don't think Ernst would mind.
the dichotomy between the "immigrant" (someone from the global south who moves to the north) and the "expat" (someone from the global north who moves to the south) makes me feel fucking crazy. a white person who moves to asia is an expat but an asian who moves to the west is an immigrant. & how those terms are politicized and assigned class statuses, like the word "immigrant" tends to imply a blue collar worker (even if that isn't the case) while "expat" implies a white collar worker. the associations with "expat neighbourhoods" in asian countries is very very different from those of "immigrant neighbourhoods" in western nations. also how "immigrants" who dont assimilate are seen as "failing" and bad, lower class, a burden on society, etc. whereas "expats" not assimilating into local culture is expected and viewed as a sign of their higher status. the double standards are so insane
IM TALKING ABOUT ASIA???
i don't know how many times i can say to europeans in the notes "these words have political connotations associated with race, class, and national origin outside of the most literal linguistic definitions and i am specifically talking about how these are used in the (southeast) asian context but this also applies in varying ways around the world because racism and classism are global phenomenons" before they stop replying to this post with 'uhm actually as a german who moved to chile i consider myself an immigrant this must be an english-ism or americanism, it's linguistically incorrect' because i'm going to start getting mean for real soon
there are literally Thousands of southeast asians as well as central+south americans and africans in the notes being like "this is literally exactly what it's like" but sure, this is an english language us-centric problem, thank you white germanaustralianbrit for enlightening us all
