So…I just found this perfectly skinned Gray Fox pelt laying in the forest. I assuming someone dumped it because they were too lazy to tan it. Luckily I found it before it rotted and I’m sure it can be saved! ( Beautiful headdress coming soon ! :D )
My mummified moray eel.
Waaaant!!!
My friend
i am at a pizza place seated next to the largest buffalo head ive ever SEEN
i havent heard anything about skunks being as greasy as raccoons or bears, theres no harm in trying? i found that my 2nd raccoon wasnt as bad to deal with grease as long as it was fleshed really well
o that is good to hear...hopefully its still good in a few more hours since ive gotta do something today but ill try anyways. i figure its pretty cold out so im keeping my fingers crossed
i definitely want to try a raccoon this winter since i always find a literal Ton of them hit and i love raccoons but...i dont think Presently i am equipped to deal w them haha
idk how hard skunks are to skin out...like are they super greasy/fatty like raccoons? :/
i found out what he shot, its a huge skunk and now im even more pissed
tomorrow im gonna try to find what he shot and dumped tonight since its Cold and it should be fine overnight...
when your neighbors are old cranky farmers who shoot anything that comes into their yard (like literally everything) and just dump the bodies and do absolutely nothing with any of it..... 👀
Aside from embalming, corpses get plastic things put in their eyes to keep them closed. They get their mouth glued shut, and someone else dresses them and puts on makeup so they look "pretty" for their loved ones.
this cracks me up because honestly that seems a million times grosser and weirder to me than preserving a pelt or keeping some bones but U know.....i digress
also im laughing because WHAT do u think happens at human funerals. do u know what embalming is? Im yelling
if i wasnt a nasty furless meatsack i would ABSOLUTELY want to be preserved after death. im so tired of this argument
lmfao god im so sick of ppl citing "respect for the dead" as a reason against vulture culture...like as if there is one singular Overarching, cross-cultural practice of respecting the dead that is accepted by every single living being on earth
So yea my icon image. I found this horse skull next to a trail on a road that used to have farmhouses. I had walked there several times before, but had missed it because it was hiding in plain sight, it was on a ridge and basically blended in with the vegetation.
I was still pretty new to collecting skulls so I was really excited and just saw the moss as something to clean off. Now I regret doing that because it looked awesome D: The front of the skull was there too, as well as an old red halter which fit over the skull, until someone threw it away… I went back this year and picked up some mossy horse bones and found a smaller halter that didn’t fit, which makes me wonder if there’s another skull there (didn’t see anything with all the plants though).
this winter im looking to do as much vulturey stuff as possible because god knows i need it
i see a lot of sites saying u should keep the water consistently very warm for degreasing, is that actually necessary? :/ i dont really have any way of Doing that
