His offerings were meager—a spray of flowers, a chipped stone that sparkled in the sunlight, a hunk of wood that had been carved by his claws into the clumsy figure of some animal or other. Not like he’d ever had much to offer, after all, but it was the least he could do, and it seemed only right.

As the seasons passed, the once-steady flow of visitors slowed to a trickle, and then to a drip, and only Inuyasha was still there.

No more offerings. No more incense. Only flowers and stones and badly carved pieces of wood.

By the time the first snow of winter fell, he saw no more visitors from the village.

They’d forgotten her. Kikyo had been their beloved priestess and they’d just… forgotten her. Inuyasha, though? That was the one thing he just couldn’t do.

Inspired by a post by @softhanyou (and elaborated on in the comments by @coquinespike​) about a prison AU, which I unfortunately can’t find, but the gist of it was that Inuyasha was in for selling drugs to pay for his sick mother’s medical care and Kikyo was in for fucking murder.

The scenes where Inuyasha is shown not eating in inns also shows Shippo either sitting in front of him or beside him eating, implying Inuyasha is giving him his portions. The anime ruined those scenes by constantly making them fight for food.

Inuyasha and Shippo fighting over food in the anime didn't really bother me because they were bickering like siblings even in the manga. But now seeing that Inuyasha actually gives him his food in the manga, I wish they had kept it that way 😭
