It's our Birthday! 🎉 5 years ago today our very first release came out 😊. Very surprised to still be doing this. Huge thanks to everyone who has ever played on, bought or listened to any of our released or just been encouraging - you are all very brilliant.
It’s apocalyptic, yes, but celebratory, too – morbid, redemptive, and playing hopefully as the skies darken for The End. Holy Motors are a band based in Glasgow featuring members of Ubre Blanca, Seconds and Blood Of The Bull and their “One Dead World”, steeped in Southern Gothic imagery, is one part knife and one part sacred text, a musical Revelation concisely communicated. The band has just released their Heavy Flow EP courtesy of Soft Power Records, and you can order digital or cassette versions here.
JOYA have made a video for their song ‘Avenue’ which is on the split LP and it’s brilliant!
Holy Motors ‘Heavy Flow’ 5 Track Cassette E.P is coming out THIS FRIDAY.

Soft Power Records have announced their next great release with a split vinyl LP from Glasgow’s Seconds and London’s JOYA. The two bands have come together to create the twelve tracks LP, which is set for release on the 1st of August this year. With six tracks from each band, and a limited pressing of only 250 copies, the new LP is set to be an instantly sought after classic. You can check out the full LP above via SoundCloud, and you can buy the physical LP from Soft Power Record’s BandCamp page here!
Seconds are an innovative four-piece of Jost, Hillary, Joan, and Richard, who came together in Glasgow thanks to a mutual appreciation of the B52′s and 90′s music. After meeting through reciprocated admiration of earlier projects, Seconds began crafting their own unique brand of ‘peppy songs for pessimistic people’ and ‘awkward songs for optimists’. JOYA meanwhile are London’s newly reconfigured three piece who have been raised on The Breeders and The Beatles. With a sound that moves from effortless simplicity to melodic hooks being brandished wildly, the reinvigorated group of Robert Sotelo, Phillip Edward Johnson & James Llewellyn Thomas are out to impress.
In support of the new LP there will be a Glasgow Launch on August 1st featuring Seconds, JOYA, and Vital Idles at The Old Hairdressers, and a London show on August 5th at New River Studios with Soft Power alumni Witching Waves, H. Grimace and Rodents performing. Make sure you check it out!
