The subject is wearing an oversized blue scarf, that might symbolize that its windy or chilly out. The light might have been really bright and because of that she needed to wear sunglasses. It seems like to capture that pose she needed sunglasses so she won't be squinting in the photo. I think the way the subject is arching her neck and jaw forward symbolizes confidence.  The subject seems to be in an open field with a bridge in the background that’s covered with graffiti.

“Eager”-Portrait

In this photograph I look scared, or really deep in thought. I have my hand slightly over my face, My one eye that is showing is widely opened, symbolizing alertness. My hair is messy and tangled, my lips in a straight line. It looks like I in a self built fort, where someone goes for some peace of mind.

 My expression contains relief. In this photo I’m not wearing any makeup, my hair is messy and unbrushed. My posture is slouched and leaning into my Bamboo plant.  I woke up from a nap that involved the earth not resembling earth anymore. I wanted to capture the relief and caution that I felt when I woke up. I know it’s silly but I was trying to capture a message with my eyes.

I decided to photograph myself, I rarely do. I’m that type of woman that sees beauty in everything except myself. Behind the camera is where you will find me, not in-front of it. Maybe you guys relate?

 To overcome myself, I tried to feel powerful and confident. So I ended up playing with my hair, to not make me feel as frozen as I was inside. Red lipstick to made me feel bold. Gold glitter, and my favorite Free People jacket to remind me of all the fun that was experienced last summer! During a walk down memory lane this photo was captured. Just grasping on those better days.

Talk about when, where, and what time of day the photo was taken and what the light was like at that time of day. In addition, talk about how the light enhanced the subject(s) in the photo.

This photograph was taken on top of a parking garage right before a thunderstorm. The sun was setting and giving off a soft light. And highlighting the main focus point which is the heart shape made from the clouds. The trees on the right bottom of the frame are dark and not defined. They don’t really matter in my opinion, they are just there to add into the space.

In this photograph the main focal point is the deer. The deer has defined texture on her fur due to the rain.  Also the rain gives a smoothed out effect to the whole photograph. The rain blurs out the leaves on the branches giving this slippery texture. It looks like someone took a thin paint brush and painted the distortions.  I think the use of negative space here was cool, nature and patterns in the negative space are there, but they don’t draw your attention at first glance. Instead, they push your eyes to the area of the positive space. The deer is the positive space.

In this photograph the wind was blowing chaos at the cemetery. I know that headstones are not in focus. They are not the focal point. You see the bare branches swaying in unison, you also see the blotchy and swirly lines in the photograph from the rain. I feel like that added a cool effect. There’s leaves trapped in the branches, I thought thats symbolic. The leaves are stuck just as the souls are stuck. I used a slow shutter speed and zoomed in with my lens at the same time, capturing this very haunting image.

For my landscape project I ventured to one of my favorite forest preserves. Fullersburg woods is known for beautiful waterfalls and trails, but thats not why I went there. Theres a secret path that leads to the most bizzare content. The trees are all bent in different directions. Leaves scattered, broken tree branches of all sizes. I find the mess beautiful, natures art brings me peace. I took this at 3 in the afternoon, the lighting conditions were soft, it was a cloudy day. Theres advantages photographing on an overcast day. You don’t have black shadows with little or no detail or highlights that are on the verge of overexposure. I feel that indirect light makes the colors pop more in landscape than with direct sunlight.

Formal Elements : Line, Shape, Color, Texture, Space

When i was composing the shot i wanted the lines to not make sense and the texture to be out of control. The sun was peaking out of the clouds beautifully, just slightly kissing the leaves. Combining rough surfaces of the leaves and the soft flow of the water ,created a hybrid feel.

My assignment consisted of taking an ordinary object and making it extraordinary. I chose my subject to be a leaf. Its most likely bland, crumpled, and forgotten, especially during the fall season. This shot of the leaf is the complete opposite of forgotten. The sunlight is kissing its patterns and enhancing its texture. I like the chaos and motion blur in the background.

Sewer take 2

I tried to make my photos creative by using props that were organically on the street. The newspaper was thrown in a perfect spot, including the Gatorade water bottle in the distance.

I personally don't think these sewer photos are unusual or extraordinary yet I have a lot to learn.

Sewer.

I thought the sewer assignment was challenging, trying to show an ordinary object in a creative way. It was complicated to come up with different ideas that involved a sewer.

Our class had to shoot 25 different pictures of a sewer. Each picture had to be unique. 

I spent a good chunk of time trying to capture a sewer in a creative way. At first I was bored shooting such a plain subject but by the third picture my imagination took control. I saw different angles that complimented the subject, and objects on the street that could add depth.
