Gonna be honest, I find it HILARIOUS that the s4 mid-season finale cliffhanger wasn't "Be my mistress" but the fact that Varley is the new Penwood housekeeper. Featherington women always on top.

It's always interesting to me when people are confused or complain that Bendict had no idea about Colin's feelings for Penelope in s3 because all that tells me is that you didnt understand Colin's character arc.
Benedict doesn't see it because he doesn't understand Colin.
Of course Benedict loves and adores him but he does not understand him, the same as Anthony, the same as all the other men in the Ton. That's the point, only the women in Colin’s life see him: Pen, Eloise, and Violet. (And Daphne had she been there I'm sure)
And they show us this in the show, time and time again. Benedict is there chuckling and cheersing when Anthony congratulates Colin on his admirers. When they're promenading on Rotten Row and Ben is teasing El for her change, she keeps trying to turn it onto Colin and Benedict blanks every attempt, like he doesnt hear her or understand her point or realise she's talking about Colin. Even every time Colin ditches Benedict for Pen, Ben is always physically looking in the complete other direction! They're about as subtle as a freight train that Benedict doesnt see things from Colin's perspective.
Of course he was surprised by Colin getting engaged to Penelope, he wasn't paying attention to Colin at all! And THATS why Colin felt he had to put on armour, because even the men closest to him in his life didnt understand him.
Been scrolling through my fic ideas doc looking for a specific fic and having a delightful time reading all the excellent ideas I've had. And it's so frustrating because why do i feel like I have so many great ideas then get stuck after like 1.5 chapters at most and not know how to turn them into full-fledged stories?
Was rewatching s1e08 today and noticed for the first time a very subtle moment of Polin/baby Lord Featherington foreshadowing. When Lord Featherington gives his bookies the deed to the house before Will's match and says to them "should I lose its yours" the very next shot is of Colin, front and centre leading his brothers into the boxing hall.
I screenshotted this for a different post but can we talk about the costuming to age our baby brother up please? Between the navy Bridgerton Brother waistcoat and the fact he's got a watch fob now, they're literally letting him grow up this season 🥺 Even Colin was in the brighter younger sibling attire till s3 which means this is a conscious choice to make Gregory seem older.

Everyone else: Polin made Portia believe in love.
Me: After Colin gave Portia a dressing down and she had a big think and a chat with Varley, Portia realised that Colin genuinely cares about Penelope and genuinely wants to protect her. Then, once she got over herself, she remembered that he was loaded and from a very influential family. With the knowledge that her new son-in-law is financially sound, naturally protective and socially accepted, she acknowledges that he meets her "you know what is romantic? Security" criteria and as a result is willing to entertain that Polin's love for one another might be real.
I hope you guys think I’m cool. I’m not, but I hope you think so anyway.
He's just so much more attractive as an awkward lovable dork than a player
Does anybody else lowkey hope when we get to s5 and the Bridgertons discover Phillip's letters in Eloise's room, Anthony rants and raves and calls Phillip a rake and a scoundrel for writing to an unmarried young lady and Colin's just like "whats the big deal? I wrote to Penelope and you were fine with that" and Anthony is like "YOU DID WHAT?" and Benedict just gives Colin a look that very much gives "and how did that work out for you bro?"
I love that the carriage scene bafta nomination is specifically about Colin's love confession because clearly the baftas people looked at the scene as a whole and were like ...we can't air this actually and honed in on the the one aspect of the scene that they can show during an awards ceremony.
But even more so because this is the first Bridgerton s3 nomination that highlights Luke, who outside of the Polin fandom has so far been getting overlooked despite his acting this season being incredible.
Like 4/5 months ago I started writing Polin fanfics for my own amusement and I thought if any of them are good I'll maybe upload them to ao3 but now I have a hellfire 99,107 word wip document with 20 different half-started fics because I get great ideas but don't know how to turn them into full compelling stories and I'm at the point where I'm wondering if I should maybe just start uploading them unplanned and unfinished to get them out of this document 😅
So... the Polin plotline is definitely gonna be, at least in part, convincing Lady Featherington to move out so they can have like 5 minutes alone to fuck right?
I'm hoping for a sitcom level subplot. Colin puts on a good face in front of Portia and the second she leaves the room his smile drops and he's like, "Pen we have to get her out of this house she's driving me crazy." Pen agreeing to talk to her, only to crumble under Portia's very obvious maneuvering. Colin is like, "Come on it can't be that hard to talk to her, I'll do it."
Colin crumbles even faster than Pen and Pen is like, "So how did that talk go again?"
