Post Episode 7 Hand Holding
It's been like... 6 months, so i figure it's time for a new begging for help online post.
Back in July, my cat got pnemonia, and the multiple vet visits plus medication plus x rays amounted to a roughly $3000 debt, in the end.
Since then, I've been averaging 8 hours a week at work, and haven't been able to secure a second job. Thanks to the power of cool things like interest rates and needing to pay for my phone, medication, and transportation, I've only been able to keep my credit card debt consistently at roughly $2.8k, with the constant possibility of it shooting up if I have a single emergency at all
If you'd like to help a super poor and broke trans guy pay off his debt, or at least cover some basic living costs, please donate to my Kofi! I would really appreciate! If you cant, I would also be happy if you reblogged this!

Hey everyone, I know it's going to be a busy day for a lot of people, but Google enrolled everyone over 18 into their AI program automatically.
If you have a google account, first go to gemini.google.com/extensions and turn everything off.
Then you need to go to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini and turn off all Gemini activity tracking. You do have to do them in that order to make sure it works.
Honestly, I'm not sure how long this will last, but this should keep Gemini off your projects for a bit.
I saw this over on bluesky and figured it would be good to spread on here. It only takes a few minutes to do.
Writers: It's asking to read your Google Docs and be able to 'summarize' things from them and such things. I just turned all mine off.
Because this isn't mentioned above, also go to google.com/drive/settings and turn off all the annoying bits that interface directly with docs there.
This is all in the "privacy" tab of your settings. How fun that everything is hidden two layers deep. š This DOESN'T get rid of the stupid little star constantly asking you to use it, unfortunately, but that's what the picker in ublock is for. š
More detail instructions for OP's post for those who are confused. This is done from the browser on my laptop, I don't know what they look like on phones.
When you click the first link gemini.google.com/extensions, you need to click on the setting icon at the bottom, then choose "Extension", like this:
Scroll down a bit, you will see the options, turn them all off.
Then, you click on the second link myactivity.google.com/product/gemini, you'll see it tells you that it's already "turn off". NO! IT'S NOT! You have to click on that "Turn off" option, it'll drop down a menu like this:
Turn that thing off. Until that button shows you have to click to turn it back on like this:
And then, click on the delete button down there too, even if it says there's nothing to delete, just do it as a caution.
After you's done with those two. You go to your Drive, find the Setting button.
Click on the "Privacy" tab, choose the button "Manage Workspace smart feature setting"
Tick both of those off, then click Save. Or if you still want to use Google AI assistant for some reasons, please read the fine lines very very carefully.
Only then, you can feel safe enough with this force AI assistant bullshit. FOR NOW 𤔠All these steps still can't get rid of that Gemini blinkblink icon though >:(((((
Repeat for every one of your google accounts š
*guy who is very clearly going through. something* oh yknow. just a little tired haha

can confirm it looks pretty much the same on mobile
if you already had your google account on the highest privacy settings possible (as i did with my main), gemini is off by default, there won't be anything in the extensions tab and you don't have to turn it off
but i did have to go through this process with my other accounts, so do check all of them
Ok but can we please talk about Athena's Character Development in Epic: The Musical? (EPIC!Athena Appreciation Post)
I've been thinking a lot about Athena's characterization in Epic because Athena is my favorite goddesses in all of Greek Mythology ever since I was a kid, and her songs in Epic are my absolute favorites, and her character arc means so much to me as someone who adores and resonates with her.
I adore her entire arc so much, because it's a lesson I find myself struggling with. My Goodbye is one of my favorite songs, but it's also a song where I don't think Athena is entirely right. I think as much as Odysseus is wrong in completely disregarding Athena's advice, he's right about Athena being prideful and vain in this moment. Because she is! I might be extrapolating a bit from other myths where Athena's pride is fully on display (see Arachne), but in Epic, Athena is too prideful to consider that she might not be entirely right & she's overlooking the very human emotions that Odysseus is going through at the loss of his friends. Because of that pride, she shuts Odysseus out and doubles down in abandoning him. When she begins to consider that maybe, just maybe, she was wrong in the years following, she doesn't seek out Odysseus immediately to acknowledge that she was wrong. Instead, she protects her pride and tries to fix her mistakes by taking on a new mentee (Telemachus). And I think that she does this because admitting you've messed up is difficult! And it's easier to try to fix things in a roundabout way, especially when you mess up at something you're supposed to be an expert in. And in We'll Be Fine, she's still protecting her pride by considering she messed up when talking to Telemachus, which is still easier than directly admitting her mistakes. However, Telemachus is able to help process the fact that she has made a mistake.
"Maybe to fall is to learn one way" is a hard lesson to learn when youāre proud of yourself and the work you do. When you fail at something youāve whole identity to the way Athena's identity is tied to her expertise in war, it can be soul shattering to come to terms with. Itās hard not to take it as a personal failure or indicative of poor character. It's difficult, but it's important to learn that failing isnāt a personal fault to fail so long as we learn from it and grow, and thatās a lesson I think Athena needed to learn. It's why I resonate with her so much. I was that student who struggled with criticism because I was so proud of my academic successes that any mistakes I made in my schoolwork felt like a personal failure. I see my own pride and flawed sense of identity in her struggles.
Back to the point, itās why God Games really is a show of how much sheās grown. Post-Cyclops saga Athena wouldnāt have gone through a gauntlet to save Odysseus. She was stubborn and had already doubled down on her insistence that Odysseus failed and therefore they were through. But Wisdom saga Athena, one whoās become wiser by seeing her failure as a learning experience and has set aside her pride to help her friend, did whatever it took to convince Zeus to allow Odysseus to escape Calypso's island, even if it meant facing his wrath.
And finally in her last appearance in ICHBW brings her character arc to a close. She's able to admit in her last conversation with Odysseus that she made a mistake ("I can't help but feel like I led you astray") where in the Wisdom saga, even when speaking to Telemachus, she couldn't directly admit that she had done something wrong, framing her thoughts as a "maybe' instead of a direct acknowledgment ("Maybe if I'd made a different call/Maybe if I hadn't missed it all/ Maybe he'd be fine"). She's able to finally, fully admit to Odysseus's face that she messed up as his mentor in spite of her pride.
TL;DR: I love Athena's character arc and I identify with it so much as someone who also struggles to admit she's messed up in an area she's incredibly proud of and Athena remains my favorite character in the entire show
Not āOnly my reading of canon is correctā or āInterpretations are subjective and all validā but a secret third thing, āMore than one interpretation can be valid but thereās a reason your English teacher had you cite quotes and examples in your papers, you have to have a strong argument that your interpretation is actually supported by the text or it is just wrong and Iām fine with telling you itās wrong, actually.ā
This!!
'Death of the author' means that interpretations outside of the author's explicit intent CAN still be valid, not that it's impossible to misinterpret a story.
This.
So many people treat any given text like it's always "open to interpretation" and "that's the great thing about it".
Dude. If your interpretation disregards and contradicts the text, then all you're doing is making noise.
And just because you can't hold more than one thought at the same time that doesn't mean you can just take things out of their context and ignore whatever doesn't fit with your view.
They should invent a new kind of Being Alive where it's not painful and it doesn't hurt constantly and actually feels worth it and you're happy for more than a few hours at a time
btw now is the best time to keep boycotting. the israeli economy has never been weaker. don't stop the protests or the demands for divestment. keep supporting organisations like the Hind Rajab Foundation and the Accountability Archive. ofc don't stop boosting and donating to Palestinians as Gaza is still uninhabitable.
enjoy this moment but the work has not ended
