A Jewish Zodiac mosaic from the 6th century CE Beth Alpha Synagogue in what is now northern Israel. A Greco-Roman sun god appears in the center circle on a chariot, surrounded by symbols of the twelve months and finally, outside the circle, representations of the four seasons. This work of art demonstrates the mixing of ideas between the various religions of the Middle East during late antiquity and the early middle ages.
