This year’s Solarpunk Cambodia project aims to ‘rethink resilience’
Cambodian artists, engineers and other creative practitioners are being invited to work across disciplines to imagine greener and more equitable futures, as Solarpunk Cambodia launches its 2026 initiative, ahead of September’s Clean Energy Week. Returning for its second year, Solarpunk Cambodia is expanding its art programme with collaborative art-making sessions, an artist residency and a regional exhibition, with a stronger focus on pairing people with different creative and technical skills to produce new work. At the centre of this year’s programme is a question organisers say has become increasingly urgent in uncertain times: How can society reset and reframe what resilience means?

And for those people who have access to mobility devices but might benefit from a second chair they can abuse without risking expensive damage…
Erik Kondo has made a website, Open Source Innovations, that details plans for DIY wheelchairs. These wheelchairs can be made from common materials like wood, plastic, and pvc. They are lightweight and can be custom fit to the user allowing from the same degree of movement you would get from a custom chair. And they are durable and easily repairable. (he has been stress testing his latest design by dropping it down stairs, dropping it out of a car, launching it across a driveway, and throwing it off a deck). Its 12lbs and I think he said its was in the $200 ish range for parts.
He also is working on cheap, open source, accessible designs for beach chairs, off road chairs, motorized attachments (think smart drive), and so on. Plus he skateboards in his wheelchair. Cool dude, helpful info, pass it on.
It's incredibly sad people have to resort to this, but it's a damn good resource. Use it. Spread awareness. Maybe one day people with physical disabilities won't need DIYs like this. But until then, reblog and share.

There're about 64,000 square miles of coral reefs on Earth that could still be resisting climate change by 2050, an area the size of Wiscons
New research used an AI (note that this is a good use of AI to analyze data for research, not a LLM) to analyze over 45,000 recorded observations of coral reefs with the goal of finding locations where reefs were more likely to survive higher ocean temperatures into the future. Based on over 40 criteria, the AI model predicted at least 64,000 square miles of reef would be able to survive rising ocean temperatures into 2050 and beyond. That's about the size of Wisconsin.
Corals in these "coral refuges" had some combination of a faster rate of recovery, more heat-resistant species, and better protection from heat-related damage.
The study authors hope that their research can help guide more efficient allocation of limited coral conservation resources.
Although coral reefs face immense threat from climate change, our knowledge of coral conservation has increased by leaps and bounds in the last 20 years. Only two decades ago we couldn't breed corals in human care, now we have mobile coral labs that can breed thousands of coral in just a week. We can restore reefs faster and more successfully, and there are scientists working on breeding more heat-resistant coral lineages.
While a model is not a guarantee, this is another ray of hope that some coral reefs will naturally survive climate change despite the steep odds.

Found this old set of plans for the squatter cabin the other day. A neat little A frame that isnt too big and can be made cheaply and fast. Thought it was a great idea espically for campers on the budget or unhoused people, so I went looking for plans.
This solar cabin guy made loads of free plans for small cabins with step by step instructions. Including a set for building this little 8ft x 8ft A frame. Linking the instructables plan here if anyone wants to use them. Also found plans for a Thoreau Cabin if people are interested.
