giddy steps, and a slightly winded smile led her off the dirt road she hurried down. the path was practiced for her by now, and with these few humid weeks past. from the moment her grandfather’s new joint had been chosen, and all throughout its restoration for opening, camille had found some point during the summer days to stop by what would be the new backroad nightspot for both her, and the men of The Midnight Calling alike. her truest excitement bubbled in her for the moment it finally would be brought to life for the rowdy crowds of her Louisiana folk. but she’d made more than a good time–until then–of tweeting those who took up rebuilding the place to near deafness.
seeing evidence of her company there now made her smile grow, and she eagerly knocked along the building’s side to signal her presence, biting her tongue in her beaming grin..
“moignonnnn..!” she called teasingly, giggling and shading her eyes against the sun as she rounded the back of the place, “I know you hea’, boo, I see yo’ ladda back hea’ ‘gainst dis wall!” she called out again, her voice audience to cicadas and other tiny fauna of the bayou, “who done left you out hea’ by yoself, beb?!”
the moment he heard her there had been the slightest grimace to his features. he enjoyed her, but knew that the moment he was working and she showed up he would be distracted from the job at hand. so that’s why he had been out here a little earlier than usual. he wipes some of the dirt from his hands, placed his tools down and waited for her to appear in sight.
“ just looking to get some work done before you pull me away and talk my ear off. ” his tone had the slightest teasing hint to it, but certainly bordered on serious.
