radfems fuck off challenge :)
I managed to get back to flicking/picking the fleece. I’m thinking 1.5, maybe 2 lbs to go into the flicked bin, most of it for blending + carding to spin into a nice sturdy cardigan, plus a bunch of extra for sampling and testing.
finished a shawl, blocked the shawl, took pictures of the shawl
very, very pleased with this one. it's soft and drapes amazingly, the gradient flows like i was picturing in my head and i was able to make the shawl i wanted
pattern is Knitting By the Pool by Romi Hill. great pattern, not so complicated i couldn't watch something while knitting while being just complicated enough to make sure my brain stayed engaged. also an excellent pattern for a gradient. i could see making this pattern again in another gradient, possibly for gifting purposes
yarn is a handspun 2 ply laceweight 100% BFL gradient from Hilltop Cloud's Never Ending Gradient Club. i used around 90 grams for the shaw, and i extended the last section by 8 rows. the yarn is from the beginning of my study of consistency in spinning lace and gradients so i can see the areas i was looking to improve at the time and how i would handle them now. still i'm very happy with how the yarn knit up
now to figure out what my next knitting project will be
still working on the silk/alpaca after a spinning hiatus. the last months were tough and I spent my evenings vegging out in front of the PC and writing fic, but I really miss doing something more soothing, so here we are. Getting into red territory soon!
this far for today!
I'm going traveling in Thursday and I have no alluring train project... can you all rifle through my stash and Ravelry faves and find me something to knit. I'll take care of dinner and the Fridge Ecological Disaster Zone in the meantime. Ok?
Should I bring this... half finished Shifty sweater I just found in my stash????
I think I stopped because a) I didn't love the shift to purple down there, but I have more of that black yarn and b) it feels like it's a bit too small but maybe that'll block itself out. Right? Right? I did a gauge swatch and everything.
Yes, I did wash and lightly block my gauge swatch! It's fine. It's going to be fine.
I have also unravelled the bottom ~seven cm and I'll add the hem ribbing immediately for a cropped fit which actually works nicely already. Which means I've only got to add sleeves, so I'll likely get away with carrying three four? balls of yarn around with me. I might finish this sweater this weekend?? Maybe? While travelling? I might, very sneakily, finish a whole-ass WIP, basically by accident. I'll better not think about it too much, in case that angers the gods.
You moron. You buffoon. You're knitting this on 2.5 needles this will not be done in five days.
This ribbing alone will take an eternity.
Sweater is still growing!
Knit this to demo easy colorwork for beginner knitters.
Finished another quilt top, this one's kind of kitchy
Pride month has begun. This design has become a priority on my list of things I want to do. I decorated my vest in which apparently I have good passing. This is my pronouns.cc but physical and top surgery edition.
Another quilt, all secondhand fabric. This one was a Christmas gift for my brother and it's hand tied because I ran out of time to quilt it.
Wait no this is the last one lol. The crazy quilt I'm currently making and my sweet precious angel son being ever so helpful
a quilt dedicated to dappled sunlight in dappled sunlight
Saturday 6 June 2026 the Big Blue Star Hexie quilt top is finished.
baby quilt finished! and given to the nearly-parents today. frog prince has gone hard into quilting (the layout was all him & I'm obsessed with the color gradient). can't wait for the next one. boy reba, we hope you love this quilt from day one!
After dithering on this decision for half a year or so, I finally decided to put a batting into my Retazo coat, and not exactly quilt it, but do more of a sporadic embroidery thing, inspired by the different fabric scraps.
This is the back panel:
I've already deyed two tablecloths for the lining, which I think I will fix with a few embroidery stitches as well, so I do not run into the same problem I had with my last coat.
Snail! I managed to do another block in 2 days, which felt very good compared to my last 4 month project. The shell is made from tiny little kimono silk scraps, and the body is a gorgeous batik.
The finished block is 10.5 inches square, but for now it's going to live in this hoop until I figure out what to do with it.
Pattern is from SummerSleet on Etsy, highly recommend!
alright it is time to flick some corriedale
Incredible incredible fleece wow
literally just finger twisted from the picked lock, no other prep. This is going to be an incredible warp yarn 😍😍😍
oh i’m in danger
okay 20g of fluff for the nano, the goldy green project spin has been ejected for the monent
Gorgeous! the lustre! It's so white and clean- was the sheep coated?!
It was only coated through hay season and the fleece was priced slightly lower because of that. I don’t even know what I’d do with one of her year round coated corriedales, I’m beside myself at how much I love this one.
