radfems fuck off challenge :)
I started processing the fleece, I have 2 batches scoured (abt 300g total before scouring) and abt 17g totally processed. Itās going slowly as I figure it out and since iām having to flick open every lock it might just be quicker to spin directly from that flicked lock instead of combing it. Not sure iāll have to experiment a little.
Iām trying to separate out the colors a bit to maybe do some color work? Weāll see!
Also a bird stole some of the fleece to make a nest!
TdF Day 16
many colors spun thicc
also did coffee/muffin/spindling out and about which was very nice. I made it to 9 whole grams on the supported spindle (total, over all of tdf thus far š) but Iām spinning potentially a 3ply laceweight? maaaaybe a light fingering so this will in fact take Forever but I will enjoy every moment of that forever.
Finished the 25 grams of Tussah silk, and started on the 25 grams of muga silk, with 25 grams of peduncle silk to follow. Massively improving my skills on the takhli. And when this is over, I've 100 grams each of raw corriedale, merino, and leicester to play with. Improving skills on the combs is next in line
I mean this started as tour de fleece. But why stop there?!
decided to go ahead and ply a bobbin bc i really didn't want to spend an hour putting it on a spare only to ply it later
207m/50g approx fingering before finishing. i'm hoping it will bloom to around a sport weight / light dk after wet setting and thwacking
Tour de Fleece update! We're just starting week 3, but I personally missed a week and a half due to vacation plans so I'm only about 2oz down of my project so far. I'll tack on the extra 10 days at the end to even it out.
After a very minimal amount of sampling I decided to spin a 3-ply yarn, with one ply being the sparkle fiber, one ply being solid orange, and one being a rough blend of the pink and yellow. I'm a little frustrated with the sparkle fiber though because there are a lot of white/ undyed pieces I have been pulling out as I go, so we'll have to see what the final yardage ends up as. And as usually I'm loving seeing everyone's projects this year! Now back to spinning!
TdF Day 21: A Plan Is Just A List of Things That Doesn't Happen
spun and plied today: 50/50 jacob/cheviot; 420m/205g
I think it will stripe. one ply tonal purple, one ply grey/blue and pink in repeating sections. thinking about looooong self-striping yarn as easy woven plaids now...
Potted Plant Commission
Three of seven blocks done. These are the simpler blocks and took a little over two hours total to make. Many tiny pieces. Yay for having an unsettling amount of patience?
Nearly finished two more plants! Sooooo many tiny pieces.
Yay! Two more! I have four left, then the shelves.
The gold swirls are metallic!
The silver bit in the flower shiny!
Here's the layout of the quilt. You can see why some blocka have a big empty space.
I now have just one more block! Then shelves, border, basting, quilting, and binding. Yay!!!!!!
Last block!!!! Next, shelves and border.
Tour de Fleece July 20!
Supposed to be a rest day, but I got some intensely frustrating news and spinning is, once again, good meditation for me.
25g of suri alpaca and I'm really loving it. Probably helps that the sliver is drafted quite thin and smooth, it's a dream to spin.
If I ever decide to eat the shipping from Europe I'll absolutely ask if the mill has more of this.

one of the cooler parts of growing up is realizing that you were being incessantly lied to throughout highschool and that fat gay people are not only capable of being desired, but are actively and often voraciously lusted after
reblog if you have voraciously lusted after fat people
TDF Rest Day 2
Yeah no I didnāt rest. It was a very long day at work so I needed some spinning time. 27.2g today. Looking good for finishing this before the end of TDF.
Tour de Fleece 2026
Life has been kicking my ass the last couple of months but I am finding time to spin, here and there. This is the Northern Lights colorway in Heathered BFL from Greenwood Fiberworks.
Absolute dream to spin and I'll be getting some more in this colorway as soon as I can. Light laceweight, ~250yds so far between this and the other 2ply skein I've just finished.
One of the names that I considered for this pattern was Crossfade, but decided against it because I thought it implied too much about the color. That said, if you want to do a fade for My Ever Changing Moods, but not sure how to go about it, here is what I did.
Each colorway that I selected had a color in it that could be found in the next colorway. (Or, at least, was similar enough.) Slainte and Lavandula have a blue in common. There's a purple in common between the Lavandula and Vegetable Medley. And finally, Vegetable Medley and Cin Cin share an orange.
Will this work 100% of the time? Probably not, but it is a place to start with putting colorways together when I get overwhelmed by choices and nudges me in a direction that I want to go.
Reminder that 20% of the price of My Ever Changing Moods Shawl on Ravelry and Payhip ends on July 28th.
TDF July 22
Finally did my sample for the next breed and plied the other half oz of for the whimsy. This time chain plied. Didn't get them into the bath tonight but I did wash myself and start the dishwasher so that's good!
