Soleverse Book 1 was set to release the 24th, but I've (Dilynn) realized that trying to rush the editing of a book in such a short timeframe was not a good idea! This is a project that is turning 14 this year (on the 24th at that!) and I believe we need to put more time into that edit. We're still waiting on getting a lot of the feedback we're needing, and the editing process will push the book out to sometime next year.
I will not be pushing the release all the way out to Christmas Eve of next year, so you won't have too long to wait. Once the edit reflects the story as a whole, I'll set a release date and stick to it.
In the meantime, I'm going to do my best to pick up posting about the world of Soleverse and continuing to answer any questions that are sent our way!
Don't forget - If you're a bear reader, you will need to submit some sort of feedback in order to make it onto the thank you page and receive your free copy. I'm extending the deadline to November 5th to give all of you more time. I know life can be busy!
If you missed the form before it closed, drop an email to [email protected] and I'll still be able to include you as a beta reader. We still have time!
If you happen to stumble across this project a little too late to sign up using the form, don't worry! You can contact us at [email protected] to participate!
Alex Novak is a 27 year-old wizard who lives in a realm known as the Soleverse; a realm where magic flows in the veins of every inhabitant. His late grandfather Tristain Novak was a master alchemist and the creator of the Philosopher's Stone.
How could a man who seemed so in charge of his own fate die so suddenly? Alex can't shake the feeling that something doesn't seem right, but the only way to find answers is to dig deeper.
What exactly is the legacy that Alex is meant to continue, and is it a legacy that he even wants?

The first draft of book one is COMPLETE! Book one will be releasing 12/24/2025, exactly 14 years after the very, very first version of Soleverse began!
Soleverse Book 1: Legacy of the Alchemist is currently standing at a final 51,260 words. There's 14 chapters.
I decided to go with a shorter word count given just how many books will be in this series. That way there won't be as large large wait times between books.
Assuming the beta readers don't report back with any major issues, this is the version of the book that will be published in December! If there are major issues, we have plenty of time to work them out!

Realized it's been a bit since I last updated, oops!
The first book has now been edited up to the beginning of Chapter 4 and is at 11,884 words. I'm aiming for the book to be about 80k (which is average for a novel), so that means it's at 14.9%. Once it's edited fully, I plan to do one last full edit to tie everything together, then send it off to beta readers, edit based on feedback, and finally move to publish!
My plan is for this FIRST edit to be done by the end of the year. If love for all edits to be done by December, but it really depends on motivation and my brain working with me. Sometimes I'll be super motivated and the dyslexia just is not having it that day.
Not only that, but I've been developing a tabletop RPG concurrently with writing the series since 2017. That is now in a playable state.
The RPG is meant to mimic the world of Soleverse itself, so it sort of makes sense that it wouldn't be functional until Soleverse itself was functional in its worldbuilding!
Really, the RPG is just a fun side project of mine that came out of me wanting to run a tabletop RPG campaign based in this world Cam and I have been creating for the majority of our lives.
My main focus will always be the novels themselves, but details about the RPG will be released mostly after the first book is published. It would be a little weird to publish the game based on the novels before the novels themselves exist, right?
I'm also working on trying to get an official site up for Soleverse. I've been a programmer since i was about 13, but web development is... Not something I have touched much. This part will likely take time.
[slides into your askbox] Hello!! I wanted to ask- what kind of relationship did Alex have with his grandfather before he died? (did they know each other, what was that like)
Does he have any nonhuman traits aside from his purple right eye? Also any interesting notes- scars, jewelry, accessories besides the cape, etc-?
What kinds of spells can he cast? (I uh don’t think specific types of spells were specified anywhere-)
AH also. How old is he? (in Soleverse years, and what the irl equivalent would be)
And extra question for fun- what kind of foods does he like!! (curious to know if foods are different from irl to Soleverse-)
Of course if anything is secret or spoilery, don’t answer it fgfgjdfns
Alex had a very close relationship with his grandfather! His grandfather was pretty much one of the main ones that raised him. (his parents are pretty busy people, but still love him and his sister!) But they were really close, and for added trauma flavor his grandfather does die on his birthday for reasons related to the story lol.
As for non-human traits?? Hmm, that's more of a spoiler ;) But! he does usually have on some sort of sweater vest, nerdy librarian type clothes. Always has on a duffel bag to hold his various random trinkets he carries. Also, if given any opportunity he will be eating strawberries. He's a vegetarian for health reasons, and those are his fav snacks! Also, he's colorblind! (which is unfortunate in a magic system based on colors lol)
Nothing really specific. He can teleport short distances, move things, and float is his main spell. We use a softer magic system, so spells aren't always a thing. More of something they're able to do.
Ages are pretty vague sometimes, but usually he is set to be around 26!
His favorite snack is strawberries as I mentioned, and food? His home world is loosely based off of more Latino cultures, with some European/British cultures as well in the more denser areas. His family is primarily Latino, so he does enjoy that type of food. But he's a garbage can, and does eat whatever is handed to him as long as it's vegetarian.
The worlds and such in Soleverse really are a bunch of mishmash of a bunch of different things. We were writing this when we were like 12 lol, so over the years we have tried to define things a bit more, and make things more solid. This has gone through many, many, MANY revisions through the years, and honestly it's always improving. So, please, ask anything and we will answer! (especially since i love ranting about my littler gremlins. alex is my fav, but theres a lot that i have that i love to talk about. theres a lot of characters we each have, and i love them. i always put a lot into backstories, and character creation.)
(also @mintycompass is the main one who has all the magic system stuff. i am sadly dumb, and am not good at remembering the magic system fully.)
WAIT HDGSCjhdffsd also curious about his cape!! Spillllll the details-
Any fancy trim/decorations? Does it have a collar or hood, or something else? Any tearing/damage? And how long is it?
aHHH sorry just saw this lol. His cape?? It's crimson red, reaches about to his ankles, no tears. It has a brass clasp that hold it in place, No hood or fancy trims. Just a simple cape. It's a thick material as well!
Hey! Your Soleverse thing sounds pretty cool, I like the symbols you’ve made! We’d love to hear more about your story, and Alex ^w^ I wanted to ask, what does he/the solelinks look like?
!!!
Okay, so Soleverse is a story by me and @friendlygaycryptid, and the basic premise is this: It's a fantasy story based on an entirely fictional world (that is, a reality separate from our own) called the Soleverse. All solelinks produce pure magic in their blood, called silverium, that grants them different magical powers based on its color. That's what those symbols are!
The solelinks themselves are all very humanoid, since all races in the Soleverse descend from humans. Alex is a wizard, which in Soleverse is a race descended from "incusuccubi" (in-universe gender-neutral term for a succubus/incubus). Physically, this just affects his eye color, since wizards have higher rates of heterochromia.
Alex is a Black soul, which is the color of Space. This is a bit of a pun on his personality, he's "spacey." He's smart, but he's the kind of person to really miss the details until the right moment.
His left eye is blue, and his right eye is purple. He's blond, tan, and about 5'8. He inherited his grandfather's cape, and he's never seen without it. It's a crimson red color. As for the way he dresses, Cryptid always says he dresses like a librarian (Alex is primarily written by them). His full name is Alejandro Novak, if he was from our world he'd be Mexican.
Alex is a part of a group of solelinks called the Ambassadors, and only thing I can really say about that without getting into spoiler territory is that there are 20 of them, split into 4 groups of 5, that the story will follow as protagonists.
Yes, that's a lot of characters! That's why they're split into groups: We want to give each group its time in the spotlight. (This is a very long story!) The job of the Ambassadors is too keep the Soleverse in balance. What sets them apart is that they are able to use a higher level of magic than the average person. There's one of each color.
Alex's team is made up of himself, Shadylin, Shadow, Rick, and Aster. Shadylin is a prince and heir to the throne of his kingdom, and he is what is known as a shadow shifter: A vampire who is possessed by a spirit, which gives him the ability to shape-shift under certain conditions. Shadow is the spirit he is possessed by, previously, he was Shadylin's ancestor. Rick is a human. Aster is an angel.
I'll happily answer any Soleverse questions! We've been working on this for over 13 years now, so there's a lot there!
[slaps desk] more questions!! Juust to double check, are vampires and angels a subcategory of solelinks, and not outside species?
I did see that teal-despair had the most complex symbol, and it also feels like... the only trait that doesn't have a positive to it? (destruction and death is necessary for a world to function and change, etc)- I forgot the exact question I was thinking, but that is- notable.
And this one's a bit of an odd question but- I'm guessing it Is Not possible to like. Store magic for later, or concentrate it and keep it useable somehow?
What kind of time period is it in the Soleverse? /like what level of technology exists there?
And completely mundane question... what kinda haircut does Alex have!!
Also should probably ask, are lifespans different between species/what's the general lifespan of solelinks?
Rauugh ambassador stuff is spoilers. i want to see it but… aah! Hopefully non-spoiler question- do ambassadors have any sort of uniform, or maybe an insignia?
All of the races are indeed sub-categories of solelink. Solelink is just the term used for residents of the Soleverse.
Good catch on Despair being the most detailed! Tristain Novak (Alex's grandfather) is the one who created the symbols in-universe, and he's a Despair soul himself.
As for the different colors, all of them are considered neutral on positive/negative. The distinction that matters is order/chaos. All magic can be used for good, and all magic can be used for evil.
Though, noted, Teal souls are more prone to misfortune than others.
It is possible to store magic for later, that's what potions are used for! They have their limits compared to direct magic, however. There are also enchanted items, but those take a very skilled magic user to create.
The Soleverse is completely modern day! Their technology works differently from ours, but the basics are there: Phones, the Internet, that sort of thing. In some areas, their technology surpasses ours. The most notable difference is in their transportation: Everything is electric. The Soleverse doesn't have fossil fuels because they never had the dinosaurs to make them. (Dinosaurs are considered fiction by the Solelinks, even.)
His hair is wavy and goes to about his mid-back. He keeps it tied in a ponytail.
Lifespans are varied, but not dramatically. No Solelink naturally lives past 300 years. The angedemonics have the longest lifespan at around 250, followed closely by the fae at around 200, then most of the rest at 150. I say most of the rest because humans still average out to about 100.
The Ambassadors are supposed to keep their own existence a secret to the general population, so no, they do not. There's only twenty of them at a time, though our group of Ambassadors is not the first and they inherited their roles.
Your questions from the tags will be under the Read More!
There is a lot of Tarot symbolism, mostly in the magic symbols!
... Oops. That's been fixed lol. Really funny that I did that on Chaos specifically, though.
There are four worlds. Only three of them really have contact with each other, and they're layered on top of each other. Travel between worlds is done through Teleportation Zones, where powerful Space magic is used to bridge the worlds through portals. Think of them like airports.
Each world is home to a variety of nations.
Solaria is the first world and the home to the angels. It's also the smallest world, existing in the skies over the country of Tenebris. All of Solaria is united under the Angelic Empire.
The Overworld is the largest world and exists on the surface, just like how we exist on the surface of Earth. The Taylic races live here: Humans, wizards, vampires, werewolves, and the animal born. Others live here as well, but these are the five that are from the surface. It's the most varied. Notable nations include Lucidus (Where Alex is from), Tenebris (the vampire homeland), Imhart (home of Shadow and Shadylin, a small island nation off of Tenebris), and Talionis (a very industrial colony of the Angelic Empire and the only part of the Empire that extends out of Solaria).
The Otherworld is the home of the Fae: Fairies, pixies, merpeople, sirens, and elves. It exists below the surface and is filled with a magical fog that only the Fae are able to breathe. The exception to the fog issue is Lunaria, which is the home of the demons, dark angels, incusuccubi, and imps (basically the rest of the Angedemonics outside of angels themselves.)
The fourth world is the Underworld. This is the realm of the Gods, and it's very rare for mortals to ever come back if they try to enter it alive. This is also the realm of the dead.
The three connected worlds (Solaria, Overworld, and Otherworld) have always been loosely connected, but there was a point in ancient history where they weren't. They only really became connected after the Triworld War, which resulted in all of Otherworld except for Lunaria being sealed off entirely and all the Fae within it for about 300 years. They are all connected now, but there is a lot of tension between the three worlds left over. It's still rare to see Fae on the surface.
The 20 colors are a universal constant through the Soleverse! And, on the spelling, it's supposed to be similar to the word "Universe." Uni means one, and "sole" as in, for example, "the sole heir to the throne" also sort of means one.
Yes! Humans are highly reactive to magic, so usually once a population settles down somewhere, they'll really stop being humans by a few generations down if there's a high level of magic. If a population of humans stayed in Solaria for long enough, for example, that population will quickly evolve into angels. Rick is from an area that lacks magic.
