Any time you think today’s Eurovision is goofy and crazy, remember what it looked like in 1979.
This was the German entry. A themed disco band based on Genghis Khan, singing a song about Moscow.
And no one cared, except Australia, where it was NUMBER ONE FOR SIX WEEKS.
I’m not making any of this up.
"Work today? Well, the boss wasn't in today so it was basically a bunch of memes and mean and the boys doing that... Well, that laugh. You know. Aha aha aha, suh dude. Aha aha aha, like, what's poppin'. Great day."
"It's really weird. I don't play video games all that often, but sometimes... When I play this certain game, I... Well, you see, it has this once character, and sometimes I feel like I'm loosely based off of him. It's hard to explain, haha."
"Work is great." Justin hammered away at his keyboard as he thought out loud. Write a diary, his significant other told him, and some day you'll read back to these days and laugh. "Everyone is very nice, and they're all so... Quirky." He paused. 'Quirky' was the best word that he could come with to describe his coworkers and boss. Nobody would believe him if he were to talk of his workplace, so he decided not go into the details. After all, there was no way that he could forget them.
"I made stuffed peppers today." Blankly staring at his screen, he tried to think up of what to say next. "I made them for my coworkers rather than myself. I'm not a huge fan of them, and they all usually like my cooking and baking." Another moment of silence. "Turns out, not many other people that I work with like peppers either. I made ten of them, and four of them went to one person. Vegan, gluten and lactose diet friendly, natural ingredients, stuffed peppers. I'm glad that I went with a rice filling instead of a quinoa one, otherwise that could have been expensive."
"I tried being nice once." The fair smirk on Justin's face wasn't unnoticed by Ernie, who sat across from him. Justin was transfixed on his coffee, spiralling with a bit of cream- but no sugar. He claimed that he was already sweet enough.
"Did it suck?" Ernie was much more laid back than his blond friend. Laying back into the diner chair, he took a chunk out of his toast. Buttered and decorated with strawberry jam, that was how he liked it.
"No," Justin began by tasting the concoction of caffeine, "after that, being nice just came naturally."
