Hello, I desperately need some advice. I finally got my snake cleared with my new living situation, but I'm not quite sure how to transport her. I'm moving from MN to RI, and flying out on August 30th. I can ship her as air cargo on my exact flight and drop her off/pick up 2 hours before/after my flight. Do you have any advice or tips for me? Thank you so much
I haven’t had to move that great of a distance with herps but I will do my best!
If there is anyone where you’re moving that knows about reptiles you can ship them before hand with a reptile shipping company like ship your reptiles or reptile express. If you are going to transport her in the cargo hold of your flight my biggest worry would be temperatures. I would make sure they are packed very insulated like we do when we are shipping reptiles. You can pick up cooling, or heating packs from those shipping companies mentioned above if you need.
Does anyone else have any tips?
Hm, if you have anyone local to you at the moment, it would probably be best to get them to hold your snake for a few days. Once you move in and get the setup done, you can have that other person ship FedEx overnight with your baby so that everything is ready for him.
Pasha's new house with a radiant heat panel on a tstat as well as a grow light for my plant babies hehe.
Do you boop the angry snoots?
Actually, both are very docile animals.

This poor animal. There has to be at least three layers of stuck shed on her face. I went over to help someone cut down on their animals because they admit its become a hoarding situation. This amazon tree boa has not had any humidity in its cage for months, and was sitting in its own feces because the owner has some immune system disease that if she gets bit by anything she could potentially die. So this snake here hasnt gotten the attention it needs because, as a lot of ATBs are, it is very defensive and bitey. The stuck shed is obviously not helping with its attitude as well. The rest of the animals were in okay condition and I helped her clean all the cages so they have a clean place to stay while I help her rehome them, but I had to take this one home. She is in what is essentially a giant humid hide to help get all the shed loose. It’s gonna be a long process, especially for her face. Poor darling
Overnight transformation! Hoping her glassy eyes mean that she is in blue, and not blind :/ I don’t know her true colors so I am unable to tell. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Poor baby! Stuck shed is particularly dangerous for ATBs because of their skinny stature and fragile bones. Also, ATBs don’t really soak much. In our homes that are dry, they don’t really know what to do to help their own sheds. Add on top of that that people are scared of them and you have a very common and unfortunate situation.
Pasha. (Note: at the time, Pasha had a mite infection I was not aware of. I took this photo months ago and he has sense been cleared.)
Sarracenia x “Scarlet Belle” an attractive temperate pitcher with leucophylla’s white hoods. Late grower.
I’m sick of it
I am tired of how this hobby thinks of the Borneo earless monitor. No, you aren’t some vigilante conservation effort. You are a greedy piece of shit who just wants an animal and sees no value in protecting its actual ecosystem.
@cave-gecko-sol
You’re the only G. Luii owner I can think of off the top of my head to ask.
Would you recommend starting out with a large tank, or starting small and upgrading as the gecko grows?
Sorry for the late reply. I depends on size and species. I keep all goniurosaurus under 3 inches in tubs with paper towel. At this size, they readily dry out and can become impacted. A tank is fine, but make sure you can maintain humidity for young animals. Adults tolerate drying to an extent. If you do glass especially, make sure there are a lot of hides as these animals are very light sensitive and shy.
Okay, Reptiblr
I think it’s about time I start doing the research into breeders for Goniurosaurus, specifically either G. hainanensis or G. luii.
Specifically: Which gecko breeders are bad and should be avoided at all costs.
I know Reptiles by Mack is one to stay away from (not a Goni breeder at least), I think I’ve heard Underground Reptiles on a bad list? Their Gonis are super cheap so I’m a bit wary ($60 seems like Too Good To Be True). Backwater Reptiles has G. luii but the price is also pretty cheap, and I’m pretty certain I’ve heard negative things about them as well.
It looks like faunaclassifieds is the best place to find breeders, but who pops up as an automatic “avoid at all costs” in most of Reptiblr’s heads?
(note that I am just window shopping, I don’t have a setup ready yet, and once i do get it set up I’d want to wait a week or so to make sure I can maintain the temp/humidity properly before adding an animal)
Hit up Ron Peteroy. He has the continuation of Scarborough line animals. He runs Amped Up Reptiles, and I trust him a lot. Additionally, I am breeding my G. luii soon with some various bloodlines to pick from. I am also doing Bawangling cave geckos in the near future. As a general rule, hainanensis are the most common to find but just be aware that their bands fade with time unlike some other species. I have been working with this genus for years, so if you had any other questions, I can help you out.
MOOD
My semiregular return hehe. Kochiana brunnippes or possibly the cutest spider on Earth.
Lisichka: why are you like this?
Pasha doing an angry hehe
New best boyyy! Poss calico Amazon tree boa male. 5 ft and ready to breed. Sorry for being away for so long. I had a major depressive episode, but I’m doing better now.
