Dragon Clay AU (closed)
- A-ah… If that will make you feel better, I can try. Though I might take a while to get accustomed to it, I shall take your request by heart, Sir.. um… Clay. - He finished his sentence clumsily, as he realized how hard it would be to get rid of that habit. Still, after being asked more than three times to do it, he was unable to refuse again. Even more, he felt obliged to comply because, not only had the dragon offered him any of the broken or damaged swords, but also was visibly gathering wood, which he assumed were to create a small bonfire. As a guest in this house, he had no say in what the manners had to be.
- Oh. W-well, I might use one or two to make me a new weapon. I used to be really good at forging swords, and well, because of personal circumstances, I have been often driven to fix my sword many times. This time, some thieves held me to rid me of mine, so I have to make a new one. I hope it doesn’t bother you, I can give you my word it will never be used to damage a dragon. - He said, knowing that this might be a touchy subject for the creature. Maybe by reassuring Clay about it, he also got rid of a bit of guilt of having hurt so many others like him before. - If you’d rather have me sell them, I can do just that though.
He was a bit distracted in thoughts as he watched the dragon move around, that he almost missed the last words from the other. Immediately after processing them, he stood up straight, his eyes filled with concern. - I-Is there anything I can help with? - He rushed his words almost to the point where they would be unintelligible. Or so he thought. - I don’t want to be a burden…
Clay smiled as his new ‘friend’ finally attempted to use his actual name and not some generic honorific, as silly as it seemed it now felt as though the knight saw him as a little better than an savage beast at least.
“Yeah, you can make a new sword, I don’t think I like the idea of you being defenseless. “ He gave the man a little shrug before replying. “You really don’t need to promise that, I’m aware that not all of my kind are saints, much like you human’s really.” With that he turned to go grab some food, not really hearing Solomon’s words as he disappeared further into the woods.
—–
He was glad the knight hadn’t followed him as his words did sink in, though his kind had both good and bad ones, more often than not many peaceful dragons had been wrongly slaughtered, and that was a harsh truth that wouldn’t fade. Was he a traitor to not want to take the man’s life? After snatching some fish from a nearby river he finally made his way back, his head heavy with conflicting emotions, but he really wanted to believe in Sol, whom despite only just meeting had become the closest thing to a friend he’d had.
“Alright…I hope fish is okay cause that’s all I got.” He stated with his best smile, there was no need to burden his guest with his thoughts.
Sol couldn't suppress a small pout after not really being heard by the creature, but decided not to follow him. He wasn't one to pry about other's business and he somehow felt that the dragon also wanted to be alone. Even if that wasn't good for his mood, after all, being alone in an unknown place only fueled his anxiety.
However, he tried to redirect his attention to Clay's oard. He has already been curious about the big mountains of treasures that the other kept, there seemed to be some quite valuable things. Having had the permission from the dragon to check it up, the knight walked closer and carefully examined an especially interesting bunch, in it there where a few broken swords and damaged shields, some a little bit burnt, probably by Clay himself. Just how many people had found him to attack him?
It was no wonder that the dragon seemed to take Solomon's presence as some kind of small miracle in itself. And well, it wasn't as if the knight didn't appreciate not having to fight and struggle to survive for a night or two. ... Well, really, how long did he expect to stay next to Clay? His cheeks flushed slightly at realizing how comfortable he had found himself in that place.
After a couple of minutes he found a sword he felt was the perfect base for fixing or creating one. The metal seemed of good quality and the grip was similar to the weapon he had had for a couple of years already. Smiling at it, he took a few steps back and did some battle movements with the sword to test the weight and swing. Perfect. Well, so it was until he felt some muscles pulling, his hand twitched and the weapon fell to the floor. Almost in time that he heard the other come back. - Ah... Y-yes it's fine. I am truly grateful. I wouldn't be able to do it on my own.
[🛫🏝🏖]
Clay, however had already been waiting outside of the apartment complex perched on his suitcase. Fortunately there was nothing delicate in there so putting all of his weight on it affected nothing. the rookie was far too excited to remain cooped up inside as he watched the road eagerly for any signs of the cab.
His patience had been rewarded as the aforementioned taxi pulled up to the curb and and Solomon hastily hopped out ready to offer him a little help, however Clay couldn’t help but notice that his lover seemed a little tense, of course he hadn’t known about his concerns about the scarring, hell clay himself had never seen the man without a shirt on even when they were doing the dirty.
Deciding to chalking it up to Solomon being an apprehensive traveler, the younger astronaut leaned into the gentle peck, it was a shame that he couldn’t prolong it.
“Ah it’s fine, I dropped Vega off at Apollo’s and Rose will pop in to check on Laika a few times a day, I promised I’d bring her back something nice… Not sure I could bring her a supple young man for her haha.” He grinned widely at the joke he’d shared with his elderly neighbour, Rose, who was a very sprightly 70something year old who’d sort of became like a surrogate grandmother to him. He remembered the day she’d seen him together with Sol and had marched over to lecture his mentor on making sure he treats him right, naturally she’d worn a huge good natured grin as she did so.
Avoiding an inquisitive look from his lover while helping him put the bag inside the trunk, he heard about his pet’s care. No doubt, they would be very well fed and taken care of, after all both of them were animal lovers. He allowed a smirk in his face after being reminded of Rose. He still couldn’t forget how intimidated he had been by the elderly woman telling him that he had to take serious care of the black-haired boy or else... He shivered a little that time. No matter how wide that smile had been. He laughed.
- Maybe we could be nice and actually get one of those for her. After all, she deserves one, haha. Well, - he continued as he closed the door of the back of the car and promptly got inside. - I’m sure they will be fine then. If Apollo is taking care of Vega, he will definitely come back much more spoiled than ever. That man will even cook pancakes for him given the opportunity. - He joked, even if it wasn’t that far from the truth. The veteran astronaut waited for the other to sit next to him and asked the driver to continue to the airport. He was having such a good time, though, that the weird looks he got from him went ignored.
As soon as he was comfortable in the back seat, he leaned against Clay’s shoulder, pouting a little. - We were so busy these last days that I was barely able to see you before today. I missed you. - The comfort that the other gave just by smiling at him was enough for the man to forget about his concern, and of course, about his agitation over the trip. - I’m really excited to see the place we rented.
[🛫🏝🏖]
He was a little surprised about his lovers ignoring his saucy comment, especially since Solomon had no real issue saying that kind of thing to Clay. All the same the rookie recalled the times they had gotten intimate, Sol had been mostly clothed, or somewhere with little to no light. Guilt hit him as it dawned on him that his mentor might be a little body conscious although he couldn’t see why. Solomon had nice shoulders and his shape was generally pleasing so why wouldn’t it look as good beneath the clothes?
Clay was about to voice his apology when Solomon had exclaimed that he did indeed have everything all packed.
“Ah, it’s fine, it usually is best to be safe and glad I could help with that.” He replied cheerfully, already forcing his guilt away as he tried to focus on keeping the other man happy.
“Ah, okay I’ll wait here then. Sharing a cab would probably be better than getting the bus service there alone during rush hour and all. I’ll see you then.”
Right after hanging up, Solomon asked for a cab on his phone, setting everything up to get out of the house. He closed windows on all rooms, leaving some air in the kitchen just in case, checked for all appliances to be unplugged and finally took his bag along with him to wait for the vehicle come and pick him up. In his head, however, he was trying to find a way around his fear of being seen by Clay. The only thing he was grateful of was that the only swimgear that he had was a full body swimsuit that he had gotten a couple of years ago. The only thing he would be able to do would be to sunbathe in private, because well, he did love a fair amount of sun in his skin.
He was scheming the way he would do to escape his lover’s eyes on his body when the taxi finally arrived. He let the driver help him put the bag inside the trunk and took the light brown backpack with him. Once he indicated the man where to go, he made himself comfortable, though his mind was still plotting everything. Ugh, he hated this feeling. Solomon even allow himself a few seconds of considering telling Clay about those scars, but the thought alone made him gasp for air. Which only made the driver pull over to see if his client was actually alright.
Finally, he called his boyfriend as soon as they reached the neighbourhood he lived in. Enough time for Clay to be outside of the apartment before checking everything up. As soon as he was in front of the building, he opened the door and got off to help the younger male with his luggage. Not without pecking a sweet kiss on his lips, of course. - Did you wait for too long? How are Vega and Laika?
[🛫🏝🏖]
“Yeah, I’m done. I guess I got a little excited.” Clay chuckled down the phone as he leaned on the kitchen counter, glancing down at the suitcase. “Well I know I got the important stuff like money, tickets or passport, so if you got those you’re already good to go, clothes you could get over there if you forget, or you could just spend the whole time naked, which quite frankly I’ll be all for.” He wiggled his eyebrows despite knowing full well that Solomon could not see the gesture.
“Okay, okay I kid but are you in front of your suitcase? Do you have your passport? Tickets? Clothes? Bathstuff? Money? Or you could tell me what you got already? “
Suddenly, it finally came to him that he would be showing his body to Clay for the first time, and he may not be prepared for that. Of course, his lover had seen the most apparent scars on his arms, but he had yet to know the ones he had around his stomach, his shoulders, and on the left side of his hips. All of them from the HAT-1, both while trying to fix the spacecraft and while landing back in Earth. True, they had shared a couple of intimate moments together, their first time ending up being a weird quickie in a storage room, but he had never really shown it in the light of day. For a moment he stayed silent, gulping down the sudden realization.
- A- ah,... I think I got all that here, yes. Haha. - He said, trying to pass it off as if he had been thinking about the contents of his bag, but guessing that had been maybe too long for him to react properly. Especially since he decided to completely ignore his remarks on him being naked the whole time. - Mmmm, I have my passport yes, tickets... About clothes... undies, short-sleeved shirts, shorts, two sets of sneakers... They told me they had towels there, and everything for the bath. I’m just taking my shaving cream and lotion since those are my faves. - As he checked for the contents of his bag, he grew calmer and calmer, thankful that he could distract himself with the simple activity of naming everything inside the bag.
- I think that’s it. Oh, and yes, I did pack my meds here. I think I’m set. Sorry, I was a little nervous when I called you but I’m glad you don’t see anything wrong. We have plenty of time before the plane takes off, so wait for me, I’ll pick you up in a cab and we can go together to the airport. - He said, able to breathe a bit better, though a voice in the back of his mind were still drilling about the fact that he was going to have to show his body often to the other. Could there be a way for him to not let his boyfriend know? - I’ll call you when I’m close to your building.
[🛫🏝🏖]
Throughout the following week Clay had been buzzing with excitement to the point he was able to brush off any negative comments about his relationship, of course new got out that they had booked time off…Together.
Now he was doing some last minute luggage checks, he knew he had the important stuff like passport, tickets…. He had packed light in regards to clothes, after all they were going to a hot beach so no doubt he’d just be in shorts… Then there were two smarter outfits for just in case they wished to venture into the nearby town…. Quickly he tossed in a book for the journey before finally jamming in an inflatable pool toy for the ocean. He was set.
No sooner had he poured himself a glass of ice cold water had his phone gone off.
“Heyyyyyyy, perfect timing, I was about to head to the airport now. Is everything okay on your end?”
Solomon was grateful that Clay didn’t get the news that he had had to argue with Yuri for a couple of days before finally being accepted to take his time off at the same time as his lover. But with Aura on his side and a couple of nicely coercive robots, he was able to make it happen, not without feeling a little bit guilty of the ‘gently zapping’ given to his boss. But in the end, he got what he wanted, and now they were allowed two blissful weeks outside of all the shitty remarks and in a beautiful place that they had chosen together.
- Oh, are you done with everything already? You are really good at this.
He said, a slight hint of envy in the tone of his voice, hopefully unnoticeable to Clay, as he went to the kitchen to have a cup of coffee. Sometimes he was just plain jealous of the way his lover seemed to have himself together all the time, especially when under the same circumstances he was just a mess. - I was just going to check up on you and ask you if you could remind me of some things... Just to make sure I didn’t forget anything before leaving the house.
The astronaut walked back to his room, ready to listen to Clay and leaving the cup of coffee almost half empty next to his TV in order to check on the contents of his bag, yet again.
[🛫🏝🏖]
“Nice, i like it.” Clay beamed as he leaned against his lover, “For the two weeks we can pretend it’s our home for a while. I bet the stars will look amazing above the ocean.” Now he was practically buzzing with excitement at the prospect of enjoying something akin to what it would be like to live with him .
He was a little sad to see Solomon return to his seat as their meals arrived, on the upside the food looked great as he broke his chopsticks as he listened intently to Solomon, he had to agree that the privacy aspect of the trip sounded great even if the rookie was usually the social type. More than anything he wanted to have many opportunities to how deep his feelings and desires ran without having to be judged.
“Can’t argue with that, I think it would do us the world of good, though you will be at my mercy.” A playful grin crossed his features as he ran his foot along the other mans leg. “You have no idea how long I’ve waited.”
- I might be fine with that, actually. For us to share a house for a couple of weeks, that doesn’t sound half bad. - Now that he had been able to inflict the idea onto Clay, they were smiling like the happiest nerds in the worlds. He was happy that his lover was excited too, and he couldn’t wait for the time where the plane would take off. However, now that he thought about it, he might havee to fetch some sleeping pills for the flight, unless he wanted to give a show to all the passengers with his anxiety. He just hoped his medication would be enough to control that.
He was sure that his face had showed a bit of agony in its expression, but he tried to pass it off as a cough, especially when he felt a playful foot running along his leg. His cheeks burnt red as if he had just eaten the spiciest curry ever, ending up hiding his face in his hands. - O-oh, Clay, don’t. You caught me so off guard. - He gulped down and drank some more beer in order to calm down a bit. After getting back his cool, he smiled, shaking his head. - Being at your mercy is the opposite of a problem, did you know? I have never met someone so caring for me. I don’t mind that one bit. - Solomon said, before winking at his boyfriend. Needless to say, he was now even more excited.
Solomon was rushing about his house, had he forgotten anything? He double-checked the list he had written and the contents of his bag to confirm that they matched. Well, maybe a third time, and a fourth time. It’s important to be sure you’re taking the stuff you need, right? Maybe he was just a bit anxious, and so, by rule, what he did was call Clay for a bit of reassurance. No doubt the veteran astronaut felt a bit guilty for relying so much on his lover, but he deemed better than doing so on a thousand meds and therapy exercises that worked half of the time.
Taking his phone, he called the black-haired guy, as he shuffled about to find where he had left the deodorant. It was almost noon and the flight didn’t take off up until 6 p.m., so at least time wasn’t something that was stressing him out. - Hello? Clay?
[🛫🏝🏖]
Those were the words he needed to hear, he could relax knowing that Solomon had no regrets accepting his feelings despite the rumour mill that had fired up in a frenzy.
“Yeah, I guess we were both bound to have had to deal with that sooner or later.”He let out a dry laugh before draining half of his beer in one go, he was embarrassed that he’d shown such an insecure side of himself to his lover, Sol wasn’t a stupid man and no doubt he of all people would know what he wanted, even if it was to enter a relationship with a man 10 years younger. And Clay was a grown man who had the right to make his decision too, his earlier statement seemed so silly now.
Moments after the bottle of beer had touched the wooden surface of the table his mentor had already gotten closer and those coarse yet gentle hands were resting on his cheek causing the rookie to melt into his touch as he was rewarded with a kiss. He heard a couple of hushed whispers and clicking of tongues as they indulged in a kiss. Clay wanted nothing more than to make some kind of comment to shut them up. As a rule he was generally good natured, cheerful and placid but he’d been driven to the edge. Fortunately he hugged Solomon tightly as he told himself that he wasn’t going to let them spoil their meal.
The whispers stopped soon enough as he smiled up at his lover warmly, his irritation sated for now as he kissed the tip of his nose.
“I love you too. Though I want to hear more about what you have planned for us.” This time Clay shifted further along his seat so Sol could percvh there, at least until food finally turned up.
Solomon was completely deaf and completely ignorant to the disapproving sounds from the people in the restaurant. In fact, he was so concentrated in the feel of those lips and the beautiful smile that the other projected that he would swear they were alone in the whole universe. He was even happier when the younger male wrapped his arms around him and pulled the veteran astronaut into a hug. He had no idea that Clay was struggling to not shout at the others, but the way he gripped him seemed a bit tighter than the usual, so he just ran playful fingertips through the other’s hair.
- Huh, it’s not much planned but rather daydreamed about it? I guess that’s closer to the truth. - He commented, already past the point where he would get embarrassed from acknowledging the fact that he had maybe thought about it too much before telling Clay. Taking the hint from his lover scooting aside so there was a bit of room on the chair, he carefully sat down next to him, leaning against the younger male’s shoulder, almost nuzzling his neck. - I was thinking it would be nicer to rent a house next to the beach, rather than go to a hotel. The only downside would be that we would have to clean after ourselves and well, fetch our food somewhere else.
He sighed briefly as he saw the two dishes being put in the table, he had liked being next to Clay like this, his warmth felt so nice. Maybe he should just ask him to stay over too. After moving to his original place, he started munching on a couple of shrimps. - Um, but I think a bit of privacy wouldn’t be bad for us, especially since our aim is to escape the eyes of people who have been pestering us so much. Other than that, I don’t have much of a plan. Maybe we could rent a boat and explore around the area...
[🛫🏝🏖]
Clay wasn’t sure how to feel about Solomon’s confession, though it was clear that he’d been the brunt of their colleagues snide remarks and he hated it. Solomon didn’t deserve the hassle, he had been a pivotal part of the GYAXA team and the most hard working people there and even Clay knew about ow hard he’d worked to earn his place on the project. He was wondering if his confessing to Sol all those month ago had been a great idea now that he knew the burden his love had to bear for their happiness.
His eyes grew dull as he thought about how he might have wrecked Sol’s credibility buy entering a relationship with the man, had he been selfish? More than anything Clay wanted the other man to be happy. He had been about to ask whether Solomon regretted their relationship when he’d piped up and chased his doubts away by admitting he wanted him to himself also, however he still had a shadow clouding his mind that he needed some reassurance on.
“Seems like we’ve both felt the sting there.” He finally admitted as he clenched his fists on the table, his knuckles turning white with anger at how everyone wanted to make their relationship their business. “They’d said the same to me, I just hoped that you didn’t know about it, the last thing you needed was to deal with this hassle too.”
“I just hope that I can make you happy. I want to be good enough to you feel like they don’t matter…. I’m sorry that it sounds weird, but I think we need this time off.”
Immediately after confessing his experience now that we were an official couple to their co-workers, he knew he shouldn’t have told Clay about it. Of course, he had hidden his part on the remarks that he did get to keep Solomon safe from them, but he hadn’t expected the older male it to be subject to the others’ mockery too. And this had pained him more. Of course, the veteran astronaut was aware that Clay was receiving those kind of remarks too, given how much they talked about him behind his back.
Several times, he had confronted the others in Clay’s behalf, but he wasn’t about confessing that to his lover yet. If just by telling him that the situation was like that he had made such a grim expression, he didn’t want to see what he would do if he told the younger one that he had gotten in trouble for arguing with some co-workers by defending him. - I’m sorry that you have gotten those kind of comments before, but you should have told me earlier too. I know you were worried about how I would react, but I wouldn’t want you to suffer alone. - He said, knowing full well that he had been on the same spot for the same amount of time. - Well, haha, I shouldn’t be talking though. As I did the same.
Just in time as his throat went completely dry, the two beers were placed on the table for them to go ahead and drink. He didn’t spare a moment and did so, trying to, again, find the right words to tell his boyfriend so he wouldn’t feel like he was inadequate. But first, he reached for the other’s chin, lifting it up so he could look at him to his beautiful dark eyes and beamed a gentle yet confident smile. - You have made me happier than I’ve ever been, Clay. There’s no denying that you have been my rock for longer than I would have imagined. And in all honesty, they can go fuck themselves with what they say, you’re the one that matters the most. But all the drilling of their words in my head is already driving me crazy, so yeah, we should take some time off.
After he was out of words, he stood up from the chair and walked to his lover, cupped his face with his hands and kissed him sweetly, brushing those lips gently after, not really wanting to part from them. In fact, Clay’s lips were something he was always obsessed with. They always felt so nice to the touch... - I love you, Clay.
[🛫🏝🏖]
“Woah, slow down big guy.” Clay chuckled as he placed a hand on the others mouth, it was cute seeing the older male get so excited but he’d barely had a chance to answer the barrage of questions.
“Next week will be great, but how about we make it a two week break maybe?” Clay asked hopefully, sure he hated missing work but more than anything he just wanted to enjoy being with his lover with no prying eyes and no snide comments. Just him and Solomon, he could probably get the old lady from next door to keep an eye on Vega and Laika. “I kinda want you to myself for a bit.”
“I can’t say I’ve tried surfing but I always wanted to give it a shot. Though I’m a little surprised that you were the surfer type, I’m impressed.”Clay was grinning ear to ear upon hearing this new bit of information about his lover, eagerly awaiting their holiday so he could uncover a few more secrets. “I’m counting on you to teach me well haha.”
Moments later the waiter arrived and Clay ordered a katsudon and a beer before Sol had a chance to get his order in. He was starving after such a long day of training, this was definitely one of Solomon’s better ideas. “So uh… What made you decide on us taking a break, I mean it’s not really like you to want to skip out on work so easily.”
Solomon responded with a short embarrassed laugh after having been asked to calm down a bit from his sudden burst of energy, but he listened intently as Clay gave more ideas to the plan. His chest felt like it would pop at any moment from his lover adding more days to it, and even better, implying that he was wanted just by the balck-haired male, whose deep dark eyes were looking into him with such fondness that he couldn’t help but feel abashed.
- I think that’s great. We could probably fit in the two weeks of vacations without much trouble from Boss. However, if he gets too stubborn, we could probably talk him into a week and a half. You’d still have me all for yourself, and it’s still a few days added to the fun. - He commented, resting his head on the palm of his hand, supported by his elbow on the table and smiled warmly. - Well, I wasn’t excellent at it or anything, but it was a nice feeling, made me feel rather courageous to hit those waves. Made a ton of friends in the process too. They have probably forgotten all about me, as have I.
Not wanting to continue with that train of thought (really, who in the world mourns friends that you stopped seeing 15 years ago?), he took advantage of the fact that the waitress had just taken Clay’s order to pull himself out of those memories and ordered a tempura udon and a beer to match his lover’s. When they were back on the subject, Solomon hesitated at first, not sure if by telling the truth about what was going on at his work would be any good. However, he also didn’t feel like lying.
- U-um... Well, you see... I’ve been... - He let out a long audible sigh as he tried not to make it seem too tragic (but already failing in the process). - After we outed ourselves, I keep getting stupid remarks whenever I get small fits of anxiety, like the kind that won’t allow me to move, and they are saying it’s just ‘cause I keep thinking about shagging you or shit like that. It feels overwhelming that they are now treating me like a clown when I’ve been so important for the Space Center for years already. - He looked away, ashamed of what he had just confessed. - It hasn’t been that many, but I still feel inadequate. I just want to refresh my mind a bit, and, of course, have you all for me too. - The features of the veteran astronaut became a bit lighter as he tried to show a smile to his boyfriend.
[🛫🏝🏖]
“Japanese is fine, it’s been a while since I had that.” He relied as he enjoyed the others lips on his own, it had only been a few hours but he missed them especially since it was apparently not professional in the workplace, which quite frankly made the rookie want to do it more.
——-
It was apparent that Solomon was itching to let loose what ever he had to say, the sideways glances, the playing with his hands and the fidgeting was evidence enough.
Gratefully he took the menu from the waitress and began to leaf through it while he waited for his mentor to find the words he needed to say. As curious as Clay was, he knew that bombarding the man when he felt something was important often made him second guess himself so he waited a little longer.
However it wasn’t that long before his curiosity had been sated.
“A few days?” Clay repeated as he thought about it, like Sol he did have slight workaholic tendencies and of course he knew full well that taking time off without being forced was a rarity, it just didn’t happen. “Well, I guess it’s needed if even you are feeling a little bogged down, I guess some time off would give us a chance to let the dust settle.”
He offered Solomon a warm smile as he took his hand.
“Count me in.”
For a moment there, Solomon was scared that he would get a negative answer from the younger male. The pensive expression in his face made his heart race, he had expected him to agree quickly, but the doubt was swiftly creeping up his brain. Thankfully, a soft hand grabbed his and he was offered the warmest of smiles, which stopped all trains of thought for a moment and allowed him some calm. He was grateful that this man existed to make him feel at ease whenever he felt his anxiety building up.
- Are you sure? I was thinking we could let the Space Center know and maybe leave next week. What do you think about going to the beach? - He proposed, as he looked through the menu and scanned it, but knowing full well he would go for his favorite dish anyways. - I really want to go to a place where people take the life easily, even if just for a couple of days. - A slight blush appeared in his cheeks, he didn’t know if it was clear that he had been daydreaming about it for quite a while already, but he wished with all his heart to go to such a place.
- I mean, I really like going to the sea, when I was younger I used to surf a bit too, whenever I could go there with my family, at least. Have you ever tried it? I think you would do very well with it too, you’re very instinctive.
[🛫🏝🏖]
Solomon had deemed it enough. He had had enough of everything and he wouldn’t allow the stress building up on his work, the numerous critics that he received on his job, and also the bad way in which people had received the fact that Clay and him were already dating. He was so done with everything, that, for the first time throughout his whole career as an astronaut, he would take some vacations on his own volition. Obviously so, he wasn’t about going anywhere without his partner, and so, it was time for him to try and convince the younger male to come along. In fact, they had both some free days they should be able to use for a well-deserved trip somewhere, they were just too hardworking to miss even a day.
- Clay, I have a kind of important question for you, would you hear me out? - He blurted out as soon as he got to his desk, though he didn’t want to discuss it at work, he definitely had to suggest that it was important that they meet after their shift to discuss it. - If you want, we can go eat out tonight? I promise is nothing bad, you have nothing to worry about. - He added, worried that maybe Clay’s mind would wander to dangerous zones in his brain. When he was sure no one was watching, he pecked the other on the lips and smiled at him.
By the end of the shift, he waited in his car for Clay, who usualy stayed behind for a few more minutes of exercise or whatever was needed at the Space Center. He was happily daydreaming about the beach, a house by the sea with windows all around, a nice turquoise sea in front of him, and maybe laying down next to his partner in a white bed with the light breeze hitting them on their backs. Ah, he definitely had to convince the black-haired man to come along.
[🌧🌂🌩]
Clay remained quiet as his mentor glanced around the main part of his apartment, the only things not visible were the bathroom and his own bedroom which were both behind closed doors. However seeing the other smile warmly and actually admire it despite it’s simplicity, and thank god Sol hadn’t made a comment about his Star Wars ship models or his collection of Gundam model kits on one of the other book shelves, though he was used to people saying that a grown man shouldn’t have such things, but still he wasn’t the kind of guy to stop doing what he loved, after all if he took that attitude, he wouldn’t be an astronaut today.
“I’m glad you like it, I mean I know I got a lot to get but it’s a start.” He replied happily as he flipped on the coffee maker before glancing at the clock- The pizza should arrive in another ten minutes so it was best to grab Solomon some dry clothes before then. Reaching over to a nearby radiator, the rookie grabbed a recently cleaned. now dry towel that still felt warm from it before tossing it over to the older male. “Here, dry yourself off.”
“Oh, right. I’ll go get them so just sit tight for a second.” And with that, Clay bounded into the bedroom to find something that would fit. Hurriedly he sifted through his closet for something that would be comfortable to lounge around in, fortunately he and Sol were pretty much the same height and of similar build so that wasn’t too hard fix him up for something. Grabbing a black pair of sweatpants and one of his old dark grey University hoodies, he ,made his way back to the living room. Sol of course was still looking around with a look of mild amusement when he interrupted him.
“Here you go, I think these will fit fit you pretty well. Good thing we’re about the same size haha.” He handed over the bundle, “The bathroom is the door to the right if you’d like some privacy.
- Ah, thank you. - Said the older male as he grabbed the towel midair and pressed it against his face. God bless, it still felt warm to the touch, just what he needed. - I’ll wait here, yeah, I’ll have enough entertainment for after you come back. - It wasn’t as if Solomon was the kind to be shy in someone else’s home, after all, despite not being good with too many people at once, he was definitely outgoing. So, when his protegé vanished behind the door of his room, he didn’t feel uneasy. He dried his temples and then his hair, a little bit half-heartedly, since he felt uncomfortable with the damp clothes pressing against his skin, and then left the towel draped around his shoulders.
It didn’t take long until Clay made his way back, this time with a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie with huge letters on it, no doubt it was from the young male’s university. Sol took them carefully in his hands, a fait blush in his cheeks, and nodded. - I don’t think I can thank you enough today, I owe you a big one. - He beamed, happily walking to the bathroom and pulling off his clothes with a little bit of annoyance, the damp fabric almost sticking to him. Ugh. He definitely would never get out of his house without an umbrella ever again.
Now. The real battle was… Clay’s clothes. No matter how he tried to avoid the thoughts, it was still something that the younger male had worn before. And now Solomon was about to put them on. He felt ashamed that something stirred below his stomach, but also his heart beat faster at every breath he took. It was his scent. For a moment, his hands were all about pressing that bundle of clothes onto his face, but he deemed that a bit … a bit too much. Instead, he slowly dried himself out. Thankfully, his underwear wasn’t that badly wet, so it was just a matter of time. How unbecoming.
Eventually, he could gather the strength to put on the clothes, taking a deep breath when the hoodie slipped along his torso. He felt how the butterflies that he had carried in his belly suddenly started flapping harder. Fuck. He was just a mess. What could even save him anymore?
- Okay, I did it. - He said, as he carried in his hands the damp clothes. - What do we do with this?
In the time it took Solomon to change, the coffee had been made and the pizza guy had already came and left. Thankfully those things kept the rookies thoughts occupied as they wandered to think about his mentor changing in the other room, in that moment he felt a little ashamed at himself for indulging in those thoughts.
Currently he had set the coffee, pizza and the complimentary garlic bread onto the coffee table as he looked up to see Solomon in his lazy clothes: A sight he hadn’t thought he’d see. Relief washed over him at noticing how well they fit him, and despite being loose it was easy to tell that he had a good build beneath the garments. Feeling his mouth go dry Clay took a mouthful of coffee, ignoring how it burned his tongue as he finally opened the boxes.
“Perfect timing.” He smiled up at his mentor as he hastily removed the books from the sofa, “The food just got here.”
His mouth formed an ‘O’ as the other gestured to the soggy bundle in his arms, before taking them from him.
“I was going to do some laundry before you called so I don’t mind washing and drying it. I’ll even use the tumble dryer for once.” It wasn’t that Clay never used it, but only if he were in a hurry as the appliance tended to use up a lot of power given it was an older model. “Should be done within a couple of hours if you don’t mind hanging with me for a while.”
He rubbed the back of his head awkwardly, of course Clay would like that a lot, sure he had slightly warmer than normal feelings towards the older male, but it was rare for them to be able to talk outside of work.
- That looks better than expected... - He said as he suddenly found himself to be hungry, however, it didn’t surprise him. After all, he had had his breakfast rather early and had been out for quite a long time already. He was grateful that Clay had foreseen this situation and had readily called for some pizza, even if Solomon wasn’t too much of a fan of fast food. - I can’t wait to stuff my face with that. I have never wanted pizza so badly. - He said, as he hesitatingly walked towards the younger boy.
- Ah... If you really don’t mind, I’ll leave these in your hands... - He said, an embarrassed look in his face, as he put the soggy mess in Clay’s hands. In all honesty, the least that he wanted was to be a bother to the younger male, and on top of that, to show him such a weak part of himself. But they were there now, and the rookie astronaut was the opposite of judgemental, which was a huge help for his anxiety. - I don’t mind staying more to hang out, if you’re worried about that. I just needed something warm to wear, and well, I’m already here, so I might as well pay you a well deserved visit, don’t you think?
A warm smile appeared in his face as he sat by the dining table, the delicious scent of the cheese flew into his nostrils and for a moment, he felt too weak. Without being able to wait for Clay to come back from his laundry adventure, he decided to take a portion of the pizza and took two bites of it. He let out an almost orgasmic sound when he started munching on it. Oh no, he had almost forgotten how good it tasted. He only hoped the younger male hadn’t heard him, or at least that he wouldn’t get mad seeing that Solomon went ahead before he was back.
“Quit smiling at me, I can’t stop messing up my sentences when you look at me like that.” - Solstardust
“Like what?…. This is just my usual face, you need to hurry up and get used to it.”
“Nope.” Clay chuckled as he covered Solomon’s mouth with his hand, “You want to get me flustered, you gotta work for it big guy.”
Clay was enjoying himself a little too much as he removed the offending hand to give his lover a quick peck on the lips, it was pretty fun being the one with the ‘power’ for once.
- Mmmm... What if I don’t want to make you flustered? - He said, a grin appearing suddenly in his mouth as he tried not to get too worked up over the denial of his kiss, only to get a playful one on his face in the end. He just stuck a hand into the other’s shirt and caressed the other’s back. - What if I want to make you hot and bothered?

“Sounds great.” she beamed, still oblivious to her mentor’s plight as well as the hidden affections he had for her as he penciled in the pool time now she’d accepted his offer. More than anything she was curious what his local gym was like, most likely it was better kitted out than her one, after all hers didn’t even have a pool.
“Haha Friday’s are fine and I really don’t party much, and Apollo’s pretty bogged down at work anyway.” Truth be told Clay didn’t really have such a large friend circle so much of her time was spent with the attorney, though there was never any romantic link between them, although she was sure that was due to the fact they knew too much about each others bad habits and flaws. “Besides, I really want to focus my efforts on doing my best here, can’t be letting you down.”
He grin widened as she gave her mentor a playful nudge in an attempt to stop him acting quite so rigid. However what she was not admitting was that she was looking forward to get to see more of Sol, both as an excuse to hang out and the fact she had a not so low-key crush on the man, yet she squashed any hope of admitting this to him as first and foremost, it was unprofessional and most likely frowned upon, and secondly though she was a grown woman she lacked experience and she was 90% sure he preferred more mature, confident women anyway…. She’d at least had the prudence to not pry into his personal affairs.
“So uh…. I guess I should switch gyms if I’m going to use the pool in your one? Or do they do a day pass type thing?”
- Oh, really? I’m really glad both of you got the job you wanted so soon, I guess it’s what your passion says about you. I never had a doubt that you would end up here, though I did imagine you’d come here a bit later than you actually did. - He said, commenting on Apollo’s apparently very busy schedule. As far as he knew, the horned attorney seemed to have been accepted as a lawyer and have done more than a couple of really important cases already. Murder solving wasn’t something that was seen on such a young person, but apparently Justice was going big. - I’m glad you want to work hard in your career, but don’t let your job eat the friends you make, y’know. Don’t want you going solo like I do most of the time. - Regretting slightly his downcast remark, an embarrassed smile appeared in his face.
Thankfully, it was short lived as Clay changed the subject completely. - Ah, I haven’t quite asked that, but I guess I can talk them into accepting you without having to pay. They keep me in a high spot in that place. - He laughed, though he didn’t look proud about it. After all, all they saw was the “Hero” of the HAT-1 incident, with very little regard to his actual personality, story or anything. The only thing that allowed Sol to spare them was that they were really helpful with him and used to lower the volume of the music or turn off the TVs whenever he came around.
- If you want to, we can go together one day so they can meet you, remember your face and let you in on fridays. I look forward to doing these routines with you.

“Like what?…. This is just my usual face, you need to hurry up and get used to it.”
“Okay, so I might be enjoying the view a little too much but watching you get flustered is also pretty fun.” He replied cheerfully as he slowly approached the other so he could run his fingertips along the mans side.
- Yeah, it’s evident in your face that you’re enjoying it in general. - He said, almost jumping as he felt the other’s gentle fingertips slide along his ribs and down to his hips. A sudden tug inside his chest pushed him against the other, looking for the mouth to press his own lips against his lover’s.
“Quit smiling at me, I can’t stop messing up my sentences when you look at me like that.” - Solstardust
“Like what?…. This is just my usual face, you need to hurry up and get used to it.”
Solomon would just hide his face forever and that would sound like a good idea. - That’s absolutely not your usual face, I had never seen that smile shine so bright... And I can’t believe it’s just because it’s your first time seeing my bare torso. I’m not sure if I should be flattered or not... - He said, shifting his eyes to admire Clay’s beautiful smile or the window to the right.
