Summer Solstice Soiree 2019

You have been cordially invited by Queen Gwenaël of Spring Valley, Avalar, to attend a celebration of the end of Spring in her castle home. Please be pleasant to one another, keep large magical displays to a minimum, and have fun! Direct all inquiries to the event coordinator.

                            The Gardens are now open to guests !!

Throughout the evening, a large set of doors in the throne room has been closed with a pair of guards in front of them. Now that the sun has begun to set on Spring Valley, though, the same satyr that announced the beginning of the magic displays has taken to standing on the balcony overlooking the main hall.

“ Dearest guests! “      he calls, and both the band and current display of magic come to a pause.      “ The queen would like to formally invite each of you to join her in the castle gardens to view the night blooms! “      Without another word, the announcer turns on his hoof and leads you and your peers through the throne room to the doors that have now been opened, leading out into a garden that stretches as far as the eye can see.

As you step outside, you see Queen Gwenaël, standing off to the side of a large stone fountain in the center of what appears to be the main courtyard.     “ Welcome, my dearest friends, “      she begins, bowing to you before motioning out to the vast ranges of flowers, some of which you recognize from your own home-world intermingled with straight stalks that do not have any visible blooms on them at all.     “ I wish for you to see all of the splendors that my home possesses, among them what we here call the night blooms. “

The suns continue to set behind the queen, and as it grows darker, those stalks that had previously been bare, begin to glow and split open at their tips. Some glows are a deep violet, while some a pale blue, and others off in the distance a fair white that you can see sparkles emitting from. All in all, the entire field has begun to shine.       “ Please explore at your leisure, my friends! “

                                       The Magic Shows have begun !!

The band has softened their playing over the last few minutes, and now they have stopped. The previously empty stage along the wall now has a satyr in a tuxedo standing atop it with a book in his hands.

“Welcome, one and all, to the Solstice Soiree! Tonight, to allow our lovely instrumentalists a break, we will be putting on shows to display the wondrous magics of this land. First, we wish to warmly invite you to a show of the fairies!”

As he says this, several dozen sprites of light seem to fall from the vine and flower canopied ceiling, floating down towards the stage as the satyr leaves it. These lights quickly form small fairies, who begin to perform various spells and displays of harmless magic ranging from temporary weather over attendees to making the flowers scattered around the hall form a body that dances.

Shows such as this will take place all through the event, some asking for volunteers from the audience!

                                    Hailing from hala, planet of the Kree

In celebration of the summer solstice, Princess Valeera has sported a more regal look and in representation of the Kree. Emerald silk gown with a slit all the way up to her waist on the left side, hair perfectly curled with a small braid circling and a golden tiara with emerald crystals and diamonds straight from the asgardians. She will be accompanied by Commander Yon-Rogg of the Kree Starforce army. ( @kreeborn )

While an unlikely duo at first glance, one can’t deny that Princess Valeera ( @mvspelheim ) and Commander Yon-Rogg make quite the couple! While the princess chose to represent Hala in a flowing and rather royal looking evening gown, accompanied by a tiara ( taken off for photography reasons, but can be viewed here ), the Kree Commander chose to contrast the colour of the Princess’ dress with a darker gray suit and light grey waistcoat, a simple yet effective formal attire.

                                          A SIMPLE EXTRAVAGANCE !!

For the celebration, Queen Gwenaël has kept her look simple for once, and focuses more heavily on the party itself. An elegant white gown with a short, enchanted (to prevent from being stepped on) train of cloud-stuff, dual-sided star-gem necklace, and a two-part crown that fits easily amid the mass of hair braided, plaited and wrapped into a bun to keep it from hitting the floor. Through the celebration, each piece will gradually gain more colors, and by the end of the soiree, there will be no white left on her, but a glorious rainbow cascade of colors.

                                    The Soiree has officially begun !!

As you enter the castle’s large crystal entryway, you can already hear the music playing from the center of the room, where a band of fauns and satyrs are elevated on a circular rotating platform. A pair of soldiers dressed in silver armors bows to you and welcomes you to Spring Valley’s castle on behalf of the queen. The hall is large enough to accommodate thousands of people comfortably and has a long table of various snacks and finger foods along one of the walls. A large bar with a finely dressed satyr behind the counter is at the back of the hall, with a mass wall of shelves bearing any drink your heart could fancy (and a visible magical spell keeping the necessary ones cold). There is apt space for dancing of all kinds, socializing, and a small stage similar to the band’s set up, but presently empty. Above the bar and extending to either side of the hall is a split staircase with a balcony overlooking the hall itself, and you can clearly see that there is more to see and do up those stairs.

Should you choose to ascend the stairs, you will find the throne room, with larger circular tables for more comfortable resting and socializing set up around the equally massive corridor with a straight path left to the throne itself, where two more ornately dressed guards stand at either side of the empty seat. The queen herself must be among the other guests...
