     He couldn’t lose her again. He just couldn’t.

     Will’s body moved out of instinct, the need to protect his family taking over all of his senses. He stood in front of JJ and their sons, shielding them from their attacker. He didn’t know what this was about, and he didn’t really want to. After everything that had happened D.C., he was going to have quite a talking to from his wife once this was all said and done.

     That, however, could wait until he recovered. Three shots- one through his leg, another through his shoulder, and the last in his chest. Despite the agony shooting through his system, he didn’t waiver, a dark look crossing his face. He wasn’t going to give this s.o.b the satisfaction of getting in a shot at Jennifer, Henry, or Michael.

     With a shout of his name, consciousness seemed to slip right out of his fingers- he had no doubt in his mind that JJ made quick work of the assailant, as he fell back, slumping against the wall. “Couldn’t risk losin’ you or the boys,” was all he could muster mumbling before everything went black.

     It wasn’t often Garcia found herself out on the field - and even then, it was rarer that she would be confronted with the unsub themselves, let alone trying to talk them down. Everything she’s saying is coming from her heart, as is always the case with her, with only a slight hiccup when finding herself at the other end of the barrel of the firearm pointed directly at her. She found her mouth clamping shut when it was fired, bracing herself for the impact she’d no doubt was coming, memories of the time she’d been shot rushing to the forefront of her mind. Everything comes back with the second gunshot, pulling Penelope out of her stupor. There was no pain, and she could see why. Reid had taken the hit for her, taking the unsub down in the process.

     The blonde is about to rush over to his side when he’s on his feet, saying something that she couldn’t make out, whilst discarding the vest that had saved him from a fatal injury. She keeps her calm demeanor until his arms are wound around her in a tight embrace; one that she returns, nodding in response to his inquiry as to her well being, tears spilling from her eyes. If it hadn’t been for the vest, he’d be dead. And she’d have no one to blame but herself. “I’m alright,” she chokes out, relieved that they both were.

     Garcia reluctantly releases her side of the hug when Derek and Hotch pull them apart, a watery smile on her lips to reassure Spencer, one hand subconsciously clutching Derek’s arm to keep herself stable. “I’m fine, Boy Wonder. You need to get checked out, to make sure that you’re in good condition yourself.”
