Nani the Heck? || Georgia & Komari

[🐎] — Some might say that Georgia wasn’t the most cultured of people. It wasn’t that she lacked class (though she definitely lacked tact), or that she was stupid (even if her heart had a tendency to override her brain sometimes). She just wasn’t very worldly. Having grown up with an incredibly sheltered upbringing under the care of her single father, and having never traveled too far from home, all she really knew was the small world around her.

And honestly? She thought that was fine. There was nothing wrong with being comfortable with home, and not wanting to branch out and see the world.

But when Neil cheekily spoke another language to her the other day — one that she was… pretty sure?… had been Japanese — something about her limited viewpoint changed. What if she stayed so set in her ways that Neil started to get bored with her? Or considered her not stimulating, or interesting enough to be around?

Now, Georgia refused to outright change who she was for any man, that definitely wasn’t a rabbit hole she’d be falling into again. But learning something new to impress your boyfriend… there wasn’t anything wrong with that, right?

No… there wasn’t! There better not be.

“S-So… you’re gonna do it?” She asks her friend, tone uncharacteristically timid as they hung out in Komari’s apartment. “Teach me Japanese?”

❃.✮:▹❁ — Georgia wasn’t one of her closest friends, but she was more of...an acquaintance. Nothing was wrong with her, there was no beef or tea between the two, but it was more like she watched her from afar. In a totally non-creepy stalkerish way. 

The redhead was friends with her cousin, Kana, so that’s really the only way that she knew the girl. She was kind of surprised at her request as well. Couldn’t Kana teach her? Nonetheless, she agreed.

“Sure! But you gotta spar with me in exchange. I saw you in the tournament, you were amazin’!” Her eyes lit up with sparkles of admiration, but she’s quick to add a weary chuckle. “Just... go easy on me, but not too easy.”

She got herself situated on the floor at the table and starts writing some characters on a sheet of paper, figuring that Georgia better start with the basics. Not long after she does so, she looks back up at the redhead with a raised brow.

“So, uh... Why the sudden interest—I mean, I’m honored, really!—but it just seems kinda...random.” Japanese wasn’t the most common language to learn (unless you were an otaku or weeaboo) and she knew a handful of people who actually spoke the language and not the catchy little phrases.

Pizza Night || Dirk & Komari

[ ✉ ] — He makes a face when she eats her nasty fish pizza and practically has a foodgasm over it. What did she find so good about that fishy, salty taste? Ick. Dirk had been hoping there’d be another pizza for him, but when Komari announces that the cheese was only half of the one pizza, he groans.

“But, but… it’s been tainted by the fish now! I can’t eat thaaaat!” With a fake cry, he collapses back onto the couch. But they both knew that for all his complaining, Dirk would be tearing into it soon enough. Sometimes he just liked to play up the whiny act to mess with Komari.

He still wished she would have gotten a second pizza, though.

❃.✮:▹❁ — When Dirk carries on with his little whiny act, she glares and huffs at him. “Then don’t eat any, hmph! But don’t say that I never did anything for you!” .

She rolled her eyes and took another bite of her pizza. She never had a brother or siblings growing up, but Dirk came close to that. Despite being the younger of the two, he was far more immature.

Ah, well. He’ll learn one of these days. 

Komari picked up a napkin and the slices of pizza she was working on and waddled over to the couch before plopping down. 

“So, what movie are we watching?”

As she checked out the books the young woman needed, Dia couldn’t help but pry when she read she was about to finish her Dragoon Courses this semester. “I highly recommend reading Dragonik Magik if you haven’t already. It dives more into Dragoon magic, and if I remember correctly, Arcadia’s Explorer’s Guild should have copies of it.”

Dia handed her the books and papers she needs for the semester, but made sure to add: “Central Library in Leuda might have it too. If not, I’ll personally see to it that they restock. It made for a fascinating read, if I do say s myself.”

❃.✮:▹❁ — It was hard to believe that her courses were almost done and the degree was just within reach. Fortunately for her, the process was much simpler than she thought and through it all, she was able to learn so much. 

Komari held her wallet in her hands as she bounced on her heels, patiently waiting for the lady to check out the books. When she mentions more books to check out, she redirects her attention to the woman.

“Hontou desuka?” She tilts her head. Although courses in school could teach her the basics, there was always more to learn through some thorough digging and firsthand experience. The latter she couldn’t get quite yet, but it wouldn’t hurt to stock up on a few extra piece of reading material.

Komari nods before taking the books and papers in her arms. “Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind!” 

She waves goodbye before ducking out of the building.

Walk With Me || Komari & Forte

Busy, busy, busy. Forte had been so caught up in her work, she barely had time to sit down with the force’s newest recruit. It was a shameful state of affairs for the chief of police, and she internally kicked herself for not doing so earlier. Now there was time to get to know them, though. Or at least, she hoped.

Always early, Forte kept an ear out for both the arrival of both her officers that day. Lest had been doing well, though she did want to help him train more. She wasn’t sure how the other was holding up though. Once Komari arrived, though, Forte poked her head out from her office.

“Officer Akiyama,” she called out as she moved into the doorway, “good morning! Would you accompany me on a patrol this morning?”

It would be the perfect opportunity to get to know her most recent subordinate; to see how well they did in the field, and how they were taking to the work.

❃.✮:▹❁ — Although it was mainly a stereotype for police officers, donuts were a surefire way to brighten up the mornings and who didn’t like them? People who didn’t favor sweets, she supposed. Before heading off to work this morning, Komari swung by the nearest bakery and picked up a couple boxes of donuts (and bagels for those who didn’t like sweets) and brought them to work.

Not long after she arrived, she was called for by none other than the commanding voice of her supervisor.

“Chief Adalhard, good morning!” She bowed her head slightly as a sign of respect for her senior. “Oh, yeah— I mean, yes ma’am. I’d like that.”

She was getting ready to follow her when her stomach growled as a reminder of the food she brought earlier. Reaching over to grab the pink box, she held it out to Forte.

“I brought donuts for you and the other officers, would you like one before we head out?”

Pizza Night || Dirk & Komari

[ ✉ ] — “Komaaaaa… you didn’t get the anchovy pizza, did you? I think I’m gonna actually die if I have to eat anything a fish has touched.” 

Dirk was sprawled out on his friend’s sofa, scrolling through channels as Komari unboxes the pizzas they ordered on a nearby table. He can smell the awful scent of fish wafting through the air, mixed in with the tomato sauce and cheese, and finds himself gagging. Ugh. He hated fish.

Raising up into a sitting position, he peers at her from over the back of the sofa. “Tell me you at least got cheese? Or meat lovers, or something?” She was the one paying for the pizzas, so it really wasn’t his place to complain. Buuut… he was gonna do it anyway.

❃.✮:▹❁ — The only thing worse than waiting for food when it felt like Komari was starving to death was her friend, now deemed annoyance, complaining about what pizza she got. She paid for the darn thing! 

“Ugh, calm down wouldja?” She rolled her eyes as she unboxed the mouth watering pizza. 

Her frown quickly turned into a wide smile as the scent wafted through the air and into her nose. The saltiness from the anchovies complimented the savory flavor of the mushrooms and garlic all on top of melted cheese, warm tomato sauce and a perfectly firm, with some chew to it, crust.

She took a slice for herself and took the first bite into it, humming and closing her eyes as she did so. “Oishi~”

Turning back to Dirk, she gestures with her head and says, “I ordered one half cheese, so eat up!” 

Though, pizza the next morning wasn’t all that bad.

[♫] — As part of his White Day celebrations, Max decided to have a delightful lunch down at the Oakwood Restaurant. Thanks to his busy schedule, it wasn’t often he got to partake in the joys of the several eateries around town (at least, those other than his own), and his visit today had proved to be an incredibly pleasant one.

The waitresses and their fantastic service, the talented chefs and their delectable creations, the cozy ambience… all of these elements had come together to craft a truly wonderful experience, and the heir felt the need to show his appreciation for the workers responsible for creating that experience. Spread a bit of love and goodwill, on this beautiful day.

So he leaves an extra tip for all of the employees, alongside the payment for his order. Happy White Day, everyone~♪

❃.✮:▹❁ — A star, huh? Komari looked at herself in the mirror and spun around. Well, at least she was in shorts and the boots weren’t that hard to walk in. Still, she couldn’t see how idols danced around on stage in heels and not fall off the stage.

Sighing and tucking a strand of hair behind her ears, she looked at her outfit once more. She was pretty sure she saw an idol wearing this. Now that she looked the part, could she play it? Or... sing, rather. Let’s just hope that those impromptu karaoke sessions she had in her bedroom counted toward something.

A Snack(t) of Kindness | Open

❃.✮:▹❁ — It was the middle of her shift and normally she wouldn’t even notice how hungry she was, given that most days were busy. However, unlike most days, today had just fell short of her expectations and things were much quieter. 

Which led to the obvious and loud growling of her stomach, only amplified by the lack of customers. Excusing herself for a break and apologizing, Komari headed down to the nearest convenience store for a quick snack or two. She didn’t really care what kind, as long as she got something to eat. 

However, it seemed she wasn’t the only hungry person as she had gotten stopped by a man resting on a bench, smoking. 

“Hey, lady, can you spare some money for food?”

Now, Komari could be naive and a bit too kind at times, but she had been taught not to do that, unless she readily had a couple of dollars on hand since opening her whole wallet was a big no-no. She learned that the hard way already. “Oh, no. Sorry sir...”

And like that, she was off. Still, saying no left her with a pile of guilt, so maybe she could just buy the guy some food! Hopefully he wasn’t allergic to anything. Maybe a generic snack then?

After making a final decision for herself and the man outside, she exited to find no one on the bench.

Huh? Where’d he go?!

Well, shoot. Oh, well. At least she had some snacks to keep her busy. She settled down on the bench and opened a pack of snacks for herself. Maybe someone else would accept them. Or she would just eat the rest of the snacks herself.

❃.✮:▹❁ — Oh no. This ensemble was waaay too cute for someone like her.

She couldn’t believe she let Felicity talk her into such a dainty outfit! And it didn’t exactly help when her co-worker mentioned it was a dress she had a) no problem in giving away—it was too nice of a gift! And b) didn’t fit on the other girl anymore considering the difference in their...assets on top. 

And while she couldn’t wear sneakers to this thing, given it was a “formal” and all, heels were already not an option, Komari decided to settle with flats. Not as supportive as sneakers, but at least she wouldn’t be wobbling everywhere. 

Ah well, at least one thing that was good about wearing a dress was the mobility it provided.

Something Fishy

❃.✮:▹❁ — One of the most important things about working in a restaurant was good customer service. Usually, people would come in and sit down, then Komari would wait approach within a few minutes upon spotting them. 

Now, normally, she wouldn’t judge any person who walked through those doors, but the man that just entered reeked of a strong fishy odor. Either he hadn’t showered in a while, or he was a fisherman. 

Still, Komari approached the man, pen and pad in hand along with a customer friendly smile. 

“Hey there! The name’s Komari, and I’ll be yer server today. What can I get for ya?”

❃.✮:▹❁ — When customers weren’t in the shop, Komari busied herself by sorting through some of the items in the back, maybe make up stories like her boss once showed her. Though, that boot story was a still a bit perplexing. 

It wasn’t until one of the superiors came in the back, searching for her, and promptly scolding her that she hurried back to the front with a box. 

“Sorry for the wait!” She apologizes as she begins to pull things out of a box and put them on display. “How can I help ya?”
