One relationship we’ve seen blossom over the seasons, especially in Season 6, is the one between Damon and Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham). “To be honest with you, it’s my favorite interaction,” Ian gushed. “Watching them at the beginning of last season was really some of my favorite interactions with any two characters on the show. Whenever I show up to set with Kat Graham, I know she’s bringing her A-game so I better have my ass in gear.”

As you look to next season — and since the cast shake-ups will provide for the opportunity to have different scene partners — is there anyone you’re hoping to work with more next year? 

I spent a lot of this season by myself. So I’m looking forward to working with Ian a lot more. I think we’re going to do some really cool work together. […] I hope we get some more girl power in; there’s a lot of men walking around. Those are the two I’m excited to work with. Whenever Ian and I have a scene together, I just feel extremely confident we’re going to get some great moments together and be there for each other as actors. . x

[What’s] your favorite part about having Ian direct you in that episode of TVD? [x]

He was pushing me a lot on set to be better, to do better… He just pulled stuff out of me that a lot of directors, that don’t know me as well, can’t. It was really, really exciting to work with him." - Kat on being directed by her TVD co-star and best friend Ian Somerhalder. Ian’s directorial debut, episode 6x16, airs on March, 12th.
