Olave St. Clair Soames Baden-Powell 1889 -1977 Short film. Produced by Girl Guides of Canada Ontario Council.
In the spring, I acquired a VHS. On this VHS was a documentary about Olave St. Clair Soames Baden-Powell’s (the First Chief Guide for Britain) life and her lifelong work in the Scouting and Guiding movements. I have gotten the short film digitalized and have just posted it on youtube to share. Enjoy!
A Spark mom emailed me a month-ish ago saying that her mom requested to know how many Sparks and leaders were there because she wanted to make everyone a mask. They got dropped today.. LOOK AT HOW SMALL THE SPARKS ONES ARE!! Such nice masks!!
Day 22: Thinking Day.
This is Thinking Day in Edmonton. A bridge lit up and thousands of sisters sharing in Sisterhood.
Day 21: Trefoil
Story time! On our first full day in Newfoundland, we were walking this boardwalk in Gros Morne National Park to go on a boat tour on a “pond”.. Walking back to our bus (in matching attire) a lady walking the other way said that a lady was coming by taking photos for google street view. So we purposely stopped at the side of the path to get our time “in the spotlight” We finally got it 8 months later when Google streetview was updated.
Day 19: Song
It wouldn’t be a Girl Guide weekend without some singing. This song was a favourite of mine beforehand but now I can’t not sing along!
Day 18: Outdoors
Some of the best outdoors I’ve experienced. And some of the scariest. That thunderstorm was something else. 😨
Day 17: Tradition
Twice a year, Girl Guides across Canada sell cookies. It’s a tradition!
Day 15: Food
Where to start.. the heads of lettuce that got wrapped in duct tape at CJ’13, the proportion of marinara sauce and pasta, the bags of marshmallows for hot chocolate. How we made cereal treats using butter packages, marshmallows and random crushed cereal and forever confused the Scouts.
Or the capelin fish I ate a week later..
Day 12: Patrol
My Girls. My Gang. Love them dearly.
Day 13: Global
The one and only international experience with Girl Guides. 12 days in London and the English countyside at Olave 2015.
Day 12: Service
Throwback to my Junior leading (Spark Helpers) days.
Day 11: Adventure
This weekend was an adventure from start to end. And we laughed all the way through. One of my fondest Guiding memories.
Day 10: Salute
I can’t find any photos of a salute to the organization so it’s an international salute to my homeland.
Day 9: Game
Does this count as a game? I’m gonna count this.
Day 8: Leadership
Although this exact photo isn’t leadership to me, this event was leadership to me. Leaders in every walk of life with a commonality. This organization. Coming together to share our stories, our journeys and how we are changing our little corners of the world.
Day 7: Badges/Patches
Pretty much my pride and joy. And super warm and heavy to sleep under on these cold nights.
