“Heels?” Charlie glances down then back up, tries to hold his gaze steady with his sister’s. It wasn’t quite fair. Short women got added sticks in their shoes to make them seem taller. Men like him got nothing.

“Sasquatchin’?” It’s a little cold for that, he thinks, but that’s without knowing how warm the agent might have made his camouflage. It looks flimsy to him. He squats next to ... whatever he’s trying to look like and pats his back. “Fire and coffee when you freeze.”

“Who are you?” The words are gruff, harsh, as he stands out in the forest surrounding his and Jack’s home, ax in one hand. It’s fall - leaves as orange as his hair scattered on the ground with deeper reds and browns - and starting to get cold enough that they’d wanted a fire. The ax was meant for wood, not intruders, but when you hear that c r a c k l e sound of someone who doesn’t belong-- He may be short, but he isn’t tiny, and the ax is light on his shoulder.

He’s watching from the kitchen - watching and listening - because Jack has finally convinced him to reach out to the sister he still had living. It hadn’t taken much convincing. Not near as much as answering the phone had, when she’d called, when their mother had died. He hadn’t attended the funeral but had stopped by her grave later without an ounce of regret. (He’d wanted to avoid Bill.) There was something terrifying about encountering family after over a decade of not. It was easier to let Jack take the ball while he cooked (fish, some artichokes, onions - all grilled) - but, if she chanced it, he was looking in. Every now and again.

“Da----na!” Her name is a singsong on his lips as he hangs from one of the tree trunks. He’s already tiny and so scrawny, not yet to the baby fat stage right before he’ll grow into something that he’ll wish is lanky but won’t be. “Whatcha do---in’?”
starter call.
charlie is both the youngest and the shortest of the scully children, coming in at approximately 5′0″. he was teased for his height at school until he became a wrestler, at which point he had a tendency to pulverize those who would try to tease him. this tended to get him in trouble. frequently.
jack is younger than charlie by quite a lot - there’s anywhere between a five-ten year age gap. but where jack is built like a lumberjack and charlie tends to be a little more on the overweight side, charlie is the one who goes hunting, who chops the firewood, who does the stereotypically masculine thing, while jack likes to stay at home with their daughter lucy, to cook and keep things clean, to braid her hair. both men have massive beards.
charlie’s estrangement from his family came as the result of two things: 1) that he fell in love with jack, and 2) that he was caught in an uncompromising position with jack by his at the time wife. the ensuing divorce was long and drawn out; charlie is not allowed to see his children anymore, as his wife gained custody and took them with her. the divorce and the affair are more a cause for the estrangement than his homosexuality, although that does play a part. jack is also typically considered a homewrecker - by bill, mainly - who brings it up whenever charlie and jack visited the family. charlie decided it was easier to just leave.
Tag Dump.
i returned to this blog to revamp it for a couple of other characters entirely and went to my drafts to delete them out and the first thing in there is elizabeth mitchell from s4 and ugh. i did not ask for this.
ALSO - for those of you following for Charlie and Jack? DON’T GO PAST THIS POINT. like implied above, this blog was originally for a different character entirely, so like, past this point? you’re gonna run into stuff for sidney glass from ouat. who was fun to write but didn’t last long. yolo. but feel free to creep if you want.

Sidney Glass is no Will Scarlet. He does not drink constantly, although the occasional glass was not something on which he would frown, nor would he drink so early during the day, regardless of his current situation. That didn't mean he didn't want one. On the other hand, this was the first time he'd been able to eat anywhere good and focus on it - his first real meal as himself, not Sidney Glass; his first meal outside of the mirror, away from the asylum; his first real meal as a human since Leopold's court. And yet.... His eyes glanced to the door, wary of Regina, before casting about the diner, catching sight of a woman he hadn't met before - although he knew exactly who she was. How could he not, after everything that led him here? "Marian," he whispered, before standing and going over to meet her. "Is this seat taken?"

Sometimes he could still taste the hatred. There was so much of it - too much of it - lingering in the air, and for a former genie trapped once again in a prison, this time one without the common comforts of home - how does a disembodied head eat? - it was almost all he had to live on. Hatred and her visage and love all mixed together into.... "What would you like to see now, my queen?"
positivelyregal
"...my queen?" He wasn't sure what to call Regina anymore. For years, she'd been nothing but his queen - not just a statement of her regal status but more that of who she was to him. She would always be his queen, even if she didn't rule. At least, so he'd believed. Now that he was finally free--- what does one say?
