Haven’t posted anything personal on here for many years. I have learned a lot and changed a lot. This is me a few days after top surgery, overcome with relief and joy to feel closer to my body than I ever have, at least not since I was a kid.

My name is Jack and my pronouns are they/them. I’m proud to be queer, trans and non-binary. I’m a pediatric emergency nurse. In the emergency room I see the devastating crises resulting from the stigmatization and othering inflicted upon trans and gender diverse kids. Gender-affirming care is a critical part of how I am alive today. Less than a year ago I was suicidal and could see no way forward. I see myself in these kids. All I can do is show them there is a way through, by showing up for them (us) and advocating for their (our) right to exist and experience joy.
