Every year I go to a gala

It’s for a local international folk music association. They have a silent auction in the lobby. Last year, hidden away in a corner, there was a course on hair cutting, which I really wanted to do. I was going to bid on it if nobody had by the end, but I wasn’t near it. (I was watching my siblings perform a dance.) I was outbid in the last second, and missing it is a huge regret of mine. I checked today, a year later,and it wasn’t there. In its place: a two-foot tall stuffed cat. Oh well.
