I think there’s like hints of a pete/mars/patrick love triangle completely made up in the heads of pete and patrick in the fic that currently exists but it was actually supposed to be more prominent than that. from the dcom au notes doc aka the transcript of emma and me texting about this in 2023:

in my mind palace there’s an extensive petemars failed engagement arc where they’re pictured everywhere all over each other it’s very trashy and everyone hates this and they’re having bad sex and pete obviously just wants patrick back the whole time. mars fans HATE pete. i don’t think there’s any room for this in the sequel lol but i love this au of my own au
