okay with this new op I remembered the theory I wrote when finished yingdu chapter about the reason why vein is hunting lu guang and cheng xiaoshi (please take a look at it before reading this), so new even crazier WHAT IF
lu guang dies as a child (train accident?).
his little friend can't handle it, and after accidentally discovering his ability to dive into photos and travel in time, he goes back in time, saves him, and gets stuck in that timeline. aand it's highly likely that he doesn't tell lu guang what the fck happened, but cheng xiaoshi's parents find out eventually
then I have a few different scenarios, but either cheng xiaoshi's memory is erased (I mentioned Lu Guang's mentor in a previous theory post, and well he might be capable of doing that why not), or something else happens, but he forgets about it, about timetravel aaaand his childhood friend and leaves with his parents.
but the damage to the timeline has already been done.
lu guang is looking for his childhood friend, meets him, realizes that he doesn't remember him at all, blah blah, and then everything goes on as usual until they are found by vein.
his original target is lu guang, the boy who was never supposed to grow up and needs to be eliminated. however, cheng xiaoshi gets shot in his place, dies, and a new series of timelines begins, this time led by lu guang.
NOW LISTEN.
let's imagine that in the original timelane cheng xiaoshi's parents didn't leave for Bridon! and cheng weimin's possible death (or disappearance) didn't happen either. it may be because they received all the necessary answers from uhh lu guang's teacher, or may be they didn't learn anything and had no clue they need to go to Bridon.
however, after cheng xiaoshi saves lu guang, everything changes. they leave, things happen, and cheng xiaoshi's mother starts traveling through time to find a way to fix everything, just like lu guang.
AND NOW IT'S EVEN WORSE.
NOW SHAO YUENYUEN AND LU GUANG ARE TRAVELING AT THE SAME TIME WITH A SIMILAR PURPOSE.
BUT THE SOURCE OF THEIR MISFORTUNE AND RESPECTIVELY THEIR FAILURES IS THE EXISTENCE OF LU GUANG.
because this boy was never supposed to grow up.
and it's amazing how much of an impact the existence of one "extra" person can have on the entire timeline.
and sooner or later, lu guang finds out about it and realizes that he can save the situation by going back in time and letting the boy (himself) die. aaaand of course, cheng xiaoshi finds out about it and won't let it happen. and either they will defeat the flow of time itself, or the ending will be wellll a bit tragic.
as far as we know, lu guang can't do it himself, so either he'll make cheng xiaoshi do it (impossible) or he'll do it when cheng xiaoshi dies again. either way, lu guang will return and die as it should be.
and either we will see just the original universe without him as the end of the story, like an unavoidable event,
or well, for example when cheng xiaoshi nevertheless goes along with Lu Guang and well, returns to childhood to kill his best friend (impossible) by maybe destroying the photo he used to dive, upon returning, he will find himself in the same room with lu guang again and it turns out that their universe exists separately from the original one now (like fixing the original universe should undo everything, but what if the timetraveler leaves a trace anyway and all the universes have already been created, so the original lu guang will really die and the original universe will go as it should, but the side line will also continue to exist. tbh I don't know, everyone has their own laws for time travel)
oh, and I also think that little lu guang from the original universe died when he was hit by a train. maybe it was a s!icide attempt?? (he doesn't really look very healthy and happy as a child, sorry)
