Thinking about what Titan meant to Genis and Phyla.

Thinking about how Paraxis offered literally nothing for them to do as it was entirely deserted and how spending weekends at their Grandpa's place was probably the highlight of their week.

Thinking about how they had no peers around them at all unless they went to Titan where they could spend time with kids their age.

Thinking about how they 100% celebrated Kronosday there with Mentor and Eros (and Elysius obviously).

Thinking about how Eros was pretty neglective and rarely ever spent time with them but when he did he'd probably take them to Titan, so they'd have stuff to do.

Thinking about how they received no proper education on Paraxis and how that probably fell to Mentor who'd teach them everything about the universe.

Thinking about how they thought they were full-blooded Titans and probably never understood why they couldn't live with the rest of their people.

Thinking about how Paraxis was just farm land and nature and how amazed they must have been at the technological wonders of Titan.

Thinking about how Titan was their safe place and how it being a paradise had an even stronger meaning to them.

Thinking about how on Titan they could make everything right, how when a chair broke or their holo transmitter didn't work or when Genis went insane and destroyed the universe on Titan they could always fix it.

Thinking about how Genis never returned to Paraxis for five years after he left and only came back because Elysius wanted him to and he then convinced her to move back to Titan.

Thinking about how Phyla probably moved with her and spent at least 3 years living there.

Thinking about how Genis calls Titan his home after leaving Paraxis.

Thinking about how much Titan meant to them and how it was always a place of safety and happiness and family and community and advancement and knowledge to them.

Thinking about Genis being resurrected and wanting to return home.

Thinking about Genis leaving in Captain Marvel 2023 feeling lost and bitter and thinking that going back will fix everything - that on Titan his family will make everything right.

Thinking about Genis going home and finding nothing but ruins and ashes. Okay haha

It's so fascinating to watch Melissa and Genis' fantasy of each other slowly dissappear and fall apart throughout New Thunderbolts.

Melissa only knew him for a brief time where he seemed so self-assured and helped her find her way again, so she thinks he can do the same thing for the Thunderbolts. She goes from almost idolizing him and putting him on a pedestal next to the other T-Bolts to becoming disillusioned with her fantasy of the "perfect hero" and getting more and more irritated and angry with him as he continues unraveling. Her idea of him was Thunderbolts: Life Sentences, she never knew him outside of that.

And Genis' idea of Melissa was his various time travel arcs / Avengers Forever, he too never knew her outside of that. He seeked out the Thunderbolts partially because they are a team focused on redemption but mainly because he knew Melissa as his wife, if only for a very short time. He went to Earth looking to fix his image and seek redemption and perhaps he believed Melissa would grant him those things. That she would love him. That she would fix him. But she won't.

She can't because she hasn't even fixed herself yet and he can’t guide the Thunderbolts because he hasn’t even found the right path for himself, so they weirdly dance around each other as their illusion of who the other is supposed to be falls apart and they realize they can't be each other's saviors. Genis will never be the secure hero to lead the Thunderbolts' way and Melissa will never be the supportive wife who helps Genis find himself. In fact Genis is about to destroy the universe and Melissa knowingly worked with Zemo to eventually kill him. Neither of them want to do it but neither of them have a choice. So the Thunderbolts fall apart and into evil and Genis is torn apart and killed...

#I genuinely have to microdose thinking about them or I will go insane #I would kill to see a well written book set in the future timeline where they got married #it cannot have been a particularly healthy marriage but I want to see what led to them deciding to be with each other #was it desperation?#they are both currently entirely alone and having someone to comfort them and give them some hope might be enough #but I also believe that they would love each other #I CAN see them together #they've just never had a chance to fully get to know each other #and they have so many individual issues to work through #melissa gold #songbird marvel #genis vell #titans marvel #melgenis #melissa x genis #marvel comics #comic thunderbolts

If Karla is anyone’s nemesis she’s Monica’s btw. They have more history together. Karla only met Carol because Osborn made her take the title of Ms Marvel and then they fought like twice afterwards but never in any meaningful way.

To add to my Imperial au (au where Elysius is behind Imperial and her, Genis and Phyla - who is revived looking the way she did in Storm - fight the Marvels):

I don't think Elysius' main motivation should be revenge. She should absolutely be bitter and angry at the universe for taking her family from her and replacing them but her main goal should be getting her family back together and REBUILDING TITAN !! Because outside of Paraxis she's never known another home and it was also the place where her and Mar-Vell's love grew and where she lost him.

She was created for conquest. She knows how to play politics and orchestrate wars. She should use that skill to manipulate the inhumans into exacting her plan for her and through some space politics stuff this should help her to get the right legitimacy and power and money and whatnot to repair her home (and become a part of intergalactic politics as a recognized state) because let's be real, no state is going to rebuild an entire moon out of the goodness of their hearts (and if she gets to take the throne from Mar-Vell's only "real" kid who replaced her children and succeeded in the wake of their failure then so be it).

I’m rereading New Thunderbolts rn and remembering that I used to HATE Genis' ass lmao

When I first read this book I was so annoyed at this random guy just showing up and getting in the way of Mel and Abe because like where the fuck did you even come from and why do you act like you have some type of history with Melissa ?? I basically felt the same way about him Erik did and I still can’t bring myself to condemn him for killing Genis because yeah you’re NOT part of the team, why are you acting like that ? I’m glad Genis didn’t hold it against him because he really had no right to considering what he was up to like a month before he joined the T-Bolts 🤨

I still remember how irritated I was when he took Monica's code name and she DIDN'T beat the shit out of him !! I don't even know why I was so mad but I specifically remember being pissed that Monica said something along the lines of "ahh I can't stay mad at that smile" or whatever lmao

There's something about Genis that just brings out the worst in people idk you just have to get to know him and then you find out that he's even worse than you initially thought but you also kinda start feeling bad for him and that's when the endless torment kicks in
