Doesn't infantilize or tie experience to age, and doesn't understand why a little kid wouldn't be just as capable of fighting or defending themself as he was.

These are things that Japanese Silver fans said about Silver in the popularity poll. Some emphasize Silver's sweetness, fluffiness, and purity, which may be part. Ship dynamics also may contribute to the phenomenon you're mentioning. But fandom stuff isn't my area of expertise.

It's why Shadow explaining what Silver is a great scene. Silver doesn't actively make the effort to be understood since he doesn't get why he's misunderstood in the first place. Shadow rarely tries to connect or explain himself this clearly, let alone on someone else's behalf.

He's the only hedgehog who has not cried in canon. Shadow has shed a tear. Amy has sobbed. Silver has broken down.

The closest Sonic's come is in Scrapnik Island, but those weren't his tears. That was Mecha Sonic crying through Sonic's eyes.

Some folks don’t seem to like the idea of EN being from the future because they think Silver stole Blaze’s villain, but even after the retcon, EN is still more of a Blaze villain. It’s just that he’s now from the future and fights Silver sometimes. He’s still Blaze’s main enemy.

An idea like that should apply to Sonic too no? I think it's more interesting if we gave Blaze an actual Sol Dimension-style Eggman counterpart. Take that idea and apply it to a future descendant instead. Cue Silver and Nega parallels:
