they’ve repeatedly been disrespectful in not trying to put more convenient sourcing in their reposts and they constantly post these in the tags (which the way they’re posted they look like they might as well have no source)
they’ve also been reposting people from tumblr’s artwork with this lazy sourcing instead of just reblogging it
it’s incredibly rude to people that, you know, draw.
some more elaboration under the cut, sorry in advance for my autoplay.
sadly I can't access the original asks, they've deleted them fairly quickly or gave private responses.
h onestly ready to take a hiatus
A thing about sourcing.
Maybe these people are doujinshi-ka that are trying to make money off their work. Maybe these people have american audiences that want to see their work. (Personally, as an American that uses pixiv, I’ve used comment areas with the source to get to pixivs to rate/bookmark work. It’s accessible.) The thing is, not sourcing artwork at all or not sourcing it well enough that people can easily see these things separates the artist from their fanbase; their art now exists in a vacuum, sadly.
As for american artists (because people seem to like reposting this stuff to tumblr too)—Some of us are trying to make money off of our work. Some of us go to school to make money off our work. By doing THAT you’re stripping US of making a living—we can’t develop a brand for ourselves if our art is scattered around by careless people.
PERSONALLY? I see careless sourcing as an insult to the three years I’ve put into college education so far as a digital arts major. I’ve worked that long—and even longer, my mother was a freelance artist and I grew up exposed to the arts and wanting to be a professional since high school—and not to have some person remove my presence from my work.
Why wouldn’t you just reblog from the post that’s already on tumblr if you’re reposting tumblr artwork. It’s literally as easy as source-fishing for the artwork you’re looking for and reblogging it. Though, if you’re the sort of person that wants to repost because you don’t want a comment gucking up your ~aesthetic~, I bet you’re exactly the sort of person that removes artists comments, and creatives don’t really care for your ilk either.
I had a homestuck pieces eons ago that actually was a derivative of someone else’s t-shirt that they used for a cosplay that I did as a personal venture—I asked them for permission to do it and everything—but it got reposted, it got comments hacked off…and that’s where the credit to this original cosplayer went! It wasn’t my idea, and I wasn’t comfortable with people thinking it was my idea to begin with. Sometimes comments are very important and they can’t be things that are just lost because you don’t think they look pretty.
Also, a lot of those Japanese artists are indeed on Tumblr! They’re trying to reach out to their english-speaking audiences now, and they can see their art getting reposted without credit (or easily accessible credit). How do you think that makes them feel? And if you can’t even make a more accessible source, well, gee, you really aren’t sorry, aren’t you.
Please source your shit, be respectful to the people that make art. We’re not machines, we’re people with audiences that want to see our stuff and want to get to it without having to metaphorically hike uphill in a blizzard to do so.

eeyoo what’s good, I’ll sit on someone
idk it's a lot to unpack but mostly my big beef is w/ people that can't even be assed to source art in a user-friendly way
can i get some respectful kh rpers to browbeat the bravely default fandom in line
disappointed clucking noises
