New in Kalos

Ahh, Kalos… What a wonderful change of scenery from Johto! Granted, she wasn’t a fan of the fact that she had to fly here by plane – planes were never something she cared for, and if she was going to be honest, she felt much safer on the back of a Pokemon. But what mattered was that she was here, and she was SO excited to start a new journey in a new region. She’d seen everything there was to see in Johto anyways, so might as well get as far away as she could! Only, there was one problem. She didn’t know her way around the region or really even the area she’d landed in. Deciding to go into it blindly mayy not have been the best idea on her part… but she was going to make the most of it, even if it killed her, dammit! So she decided to take a stroll. She was pretty sure that sign said something 7… was she on route seven? Oh, who knows – not her, that’s for sure! But as she continued her little stroll through the area, something caught her eye – and it was an almost castle-like building ( or even better, maybe it WAS a castle! That thought excited Kris very much. ) and the sign said BATTLE CHATEAU. Battle Chateau? ‘ Ohh… that sounds cool! ‘
But she still wasn’t really sure what it was. Lucky for her, she saw a black haired man stepping out of the front doors of the building at just the right time – she was going to ask this man what that was about! Tugging on his sleeve to make sure he’d notice her, she asked, “Um…pardon me, sir, but d’ya know what this here Battle Chateau is all about? Sorry I don’t really speak um.. Kalosian. That’s what it’s called, right?”
The Battle Chateau was basically dead today, much to Calem’s irritation. The receptionist had just finished apologetically explaining that most of the usual clientele was out of town for a gala in Unova. So instead of doing what he wanted, which would have involved several hours of mucking about with close acquaintances and battling, he found himself with a day free, no pressing commitments, and, from the look of the event calendar he’d just checked, not even anything particularly interesting to go see.
He mused to himself as he put on his shades, a godawful-looking gift from a friend, and stepped out into the mid-morning sun drenching route 7, maybe it was time for another movie marathon.
With his mind a million miles away, Calem didn’t notice the girl until she tugged on his sleeve and said:
“Um…pardon me, sir, but d’ya know what this here Battle Chateau is all about? Sorry I don’t really speak um.. Kalosian. That’s what it’s called, right?”
He blinked, slightly surprised. It took him a moment to parse what she’d said, and another to figure out how to say what he wanted to in her language. “It’s . . . uh, comment dit-on, like the Battle Tower, sort of. The place is pretty empty today. What brings you here?”
