I wrote about medieval animal trials in my first for @jstor_daily. "In 1386, in the old Norman city of Falaise, a 'vast and motley' crowd gathered to witness the execution of a convicted murderer. The criminal was a pig, which 'had indulged in the evil propensity of eating infants on the street' and was sentenced to be maimed in the head and forelegs prior to hanging." Very proud of my first piece for @washingtonpost. It's about the importance of having triumphs and losses acknowledged in the workplace, and how the prescribed list of acceptable milestones fails those of us who live outside it. I dreamed this one up in the bath months ago when I still had a full time day job — despite the intimate and supportive environment of my team, I felt completely alone when I was assaulted and then years later when a best friend died from suicide.
