despite having an extremely popular boyfriend like mirio, you weren’t all that popular yourself
in fact, you didn’t really have a lot of friends - at least, not people you considered friends. you weren’t the best at opening up to people, and you mainly stuck to your boyfriend and his close friends
it was honestly a miracle you and mirio got together in the first place - you were a support student tasked with helping him craft a hero suit that wouldn’t tear off his body as he used his quirk
most people assumed that you would’ve wanted to be in the hero course , but it wasn’t really your main desire. your quirk was simple but powerful, and being in the support course meant you’d get to expand your creative tendencies. less pressure, less focus on you
it’s not that you’re antisocial, you’re simply more introverted, and you don’t really enjoy big crowds.
but mirio took an interest in you despite your near constant silence around him, encouraging you to talk about things that interested you or trying to make you laugh
he thought of you as a less severely anxious version of tamaki at first, but soon he’s smitten over you - won over by your kindness and your dedication to the support course
you’ve been dating a couple months when your birthday rolls around, and you haven’t said anything to your boyfriend - you don’t want to burden him with something so silly when he’s so busy with his hero studies
you’re used to spending your birthdays completely alone, no friends to speak of that would want to celebrate with you. you’re expecting much of the same this year, sighing as you headed towards your workshop. you hadnt even gotten your usual good morning text from mirio, your usually energetic boyfriend radio silent.
it’s not like you weren’t used to lonely birthdays, and technically you hadn’t said anything. still, you’re disappointed as you unlock the door to your workshop, bracing yourself for another day alone.
flicking on the lights to your workshop reveal streamers, balloons, presents, and your smiling, overexcited boyfriend in the middle of it all with a cake, flanked by his two best friends and a few people you were casually friendly with in the support course. you couldn’t believe it, eyes wide and mouth speechless
as you approached your worktable they all joined into a loud, very off key and cheerful rendition of happy birthday, and you nearly cry
“all this is for me?” you ask softly, as though you’ll realize you’re dreaming at any second, and mirio sets down the cake to pull you into a big hug.
“of course, sweetheart! you didn’t actually think i’d forget my favorite person in the whole worlds birthday, did you?” he teases, pressing a million birthday kisses all over your face
you’d never have another lonely birthday again, not with mirio around 💓
