"Hey, I'm leaving!" Jangmi calls out as the night wraps up, waving to the others who are still hanging around.
"Did you want me to walk you home?" Jongin asks, putting one of the chairs up as he looks over at his friend but the fox shook her head, smiling tiredly.
"I'll be okay! You're just trying to get out of clean up!" She teases before grabbing her things and heading out into the night chill. Things have been picking up at the club lately with the nights getting warmer and people travelling around a lot more now that the days are longer so she's feeling more tired than usual with all the extra dances that she's been picking up.
Walking down the street, Jangmi hums and dances along to a song that she's been learning recently, a benefit to her best friend opening up his dance studio once more. As tired as she is, Jangmi still remained alert, making sure that her eyes didn't linger on someone for too long or that she isn't being followed. It's the one thing that she's always remained fearful of, no matter how well protected she is at the club, no matter if her best friend is a werewolf with anger issues or that her boss is the Devil herself - Jangmi has always been scared that the freedom she cherishes so much will be taken from her.
Turning down the dimly lit alleyway that leads to her apartment complex, Jangmi becomes hyper-aware that there's someone following her. Footsteps a second after her own, heavy breathing sounding close to her ear, the fox starts to walk faster, breaking into a run as she races as fast as she can towards the complex. She doesn't look behind her, refusing to stop or falter in her step, not until she is safely behind the locked complex entrance.
Trying to steady her poor racing heart, Jangmi lets out a sigh of relief that she was feeling paranoid before heading to her apartment on the third floor. The long night must be getting to her, her mind must be running so fast while needing sleep, Jangmi could have sworn that she heard the door open as the elevator doors started to close but it's late... maybe she's still so on edge she's now imagining things. "It's okay, once I'm inside, it'll all be okay." She reminds herself over and over until she is inside but the feeling never went away.
Not once she was showered and ready for bed.
Not when she was curled up in her bed and closing her eyes.
Especially not when there is a loud knock on her door.
Knock, knock, knock. Jangmi shivers as she buries deep into the bed, closing her eyes and hiding, hoping to block out the knocking. Knock, knock, knock. The woman shakes her head, beginning to remember the loud, harsh knocks of her owner whenever he was telling her to get ready. "Go away," she begins to cry, curling further into herself, "go away, go away, go away."
The knocks carry on for a short while more before they stop suddenly, almost like they never happened, but it doesn't stop Jangmi from crying herself to sleep. It doesn't stop her from feeling scared and alone inside.
