In celebration of NCT127′s debut I decided to do a small giveaway of their 1st mini album to two fans. I’m sorry it’s not much but I’ll do bigger ones in the future with the newer units.

This is a fan account for KCON in New York/New Jersey! I’m going to start from the very beginning (from buying tickets, checking in, klub kcon, the convention, and the overall experience). So a warning that this will be A VERY LONG ACCOUNT. I’m not going to talk about the actual concert much since you can see that through my fancams here, but will discuss KCON’s organization of the event, standing in line for stuff, etc.
Just a heads up, I got a P1 GA (standing) COMBO ticket. So this account will be about that experience as well.
Artist Announcements, KCON live chats, pre-con answering questions:
So for about 2 months before tickets went on sale, KCON announced about 1-2 artists a week in a live stream on YouTube. They would also answer FAQs and also post those on their website (kconusa.com) later. I was actually pretty content with the final line-up. The only thing that would’ve made it perfect was if Monsta X joined, but there were so many other awesome artists so I was still satisfied.
Overall I think they did an okay job with answering questions! There are some questions they would repeatedly ignore. For example, we asked if they could fix the whole FCFS situation for standing line for the GA sections. Since if people spend all day standing in line to get a good spot for the concert, we wouldn’t be able to enjoy the convention at all. Normally I wouldn’t have minded fcfs, but with it being a convention and artist engagements happening all day, it was really nerve-wrecking figuring out how to schedule everything. They also said they wouldn’t announce the engagement schedule until the day OF the convention. Which made it so hard to plan orz

Buying tickets:
I’m just gonna first say: PLS KNOW THE DETAILS OF EACH TYPE OF TICKET BEFORE BUYING TICKETS. Some people asked for what perks a certain tier held AFTER buying tickets. KNOW WHAT YOU’RE PUTTING YOUR MONEY INTO. These tickets, especially the Platinum, and P1/P2 are not sth to empty spare change into. I just saw way too many people on twitter, fb, etc, who keps saying “I bought the wrong ticket.” LOOK at the PRICE of the ticket before you click buy. You have a good 3 minutes to hold onto the ticket before you have to decide if you want to buy it so don’t be rash.
Ticketmaster sux unless you’re in a place with the highest speed internet you can find to buy tickets. University internet usually works, most IT-based workplaces (just be sneaky), etc. Comcast is usually pretty fast. Just try to be fast, refresh the page 1 second before the time and use this site: http://www.timeanddate.com/. Ticketmaster will display a countdown based on YOUR OWN COMPUTER’S TIME which may be slightly off. DO NOT depend on that. DO NOT give up the second you see “no tickets found” or get the wrong section’s ticket.
We specifically selected P1 GA only using our home internet and we only got a bunch of P2′s or seated tickets. We also tried best available but still nothing. My sister who was at work immediately got P1 tickets at exactly 1:00PM (when it opened).
tl;dr: Know your ticket types. Keep refreshing. Don’t give up.
Check-in:
I did the early bird check-in on Thursday, so there was no line at all.
P1 Combo comes with 2 hi-touches and 4 audience passes. Mine were:

Eric Nam audience
Hi-touch means you get to high five them (or clasp both their hands like Seventeen did). Audience means you just get to watch. They do a short Q&A as well with questions fans submitted through the LINE app during the two weeks before KCON started.
I didn’t get a Seventeen or DAY6 hi-touch so I was a little upset, but I did get Eric Nam and Mamamoo which were both the next best for me. Eventually my sister who’s a big DAY6 fan was able to trade the Mamamoo for a DAY6 hi touch! :D And I was able to trade the Eric Nam audience for a Seventeen audience!!! (the girl who gave me this looked like the sweetest thing and I thank you forever). People were trading passes almost all day and all day on the actual convention days as well, so don’t be too upset if you don’t get what you want! There will always be people who are big fans of less popular groups and not a fan of or don’t know the popular groups.
A lot of people who checked in at my time also got similar passes as me, so KCON staff REALLY NEED TO LEARN HOW TO SHUFFLE. I expected this though since I heard it’s what happened the year before. Some people were saying people were getting BTS hi-touches within the first 20 minutes and the very last 20 minutes that check-in was open for early bird. So I’d say just stick around the check-in area, hold up a sign that says what pass(es) you want and what you have. And you’ll get something!
Klub KCON:
I was lucky enough to be handed a free pass to Klub KCON (by a really nice guy who was a friend of the girl who gave me the Seventeen audience pass!!!). MAN LEMME TELL YOU GUYS HOW LUCKY I WAS CAUSE THE SPECIAL GUESTS TURNED OUT TO BE SEVENTEEN (which I kind of figured since they were the first to reach New York) AND OMFG they look 2309794 times more handsome in real life. Dino and Mingyu were FLAWLESS. And tiny Woozi didn’t make expressions but he was so SMOL OMG. I wanted to pick him up and twirl him around. Seungkwan was also being REALLY sweet. <3 They answered a few questions then left so it lasted not even 10 minutes. YouTuber JunCurryAhn also made an appearance and did a short Q&A as well.

Only complaint is that I really wish Klub KCON was shorter, cause we had to wait almost 3 hours for Seventeen to come out. My feet hurt so bad and none of us wanted to sit down to be respectful to the DJ’s.
Overall, it was good, but I don’t think I’d pay money for this.
After this, we checked into our hotel which was the DoubleTree Hilton about 10 minutes away from the venue. Book it way in advance because it’s an expensive hotel if you don’t.
KCON DAY 1:
It took me a few minutes to find the line for P1 GA (the map was in the pamphlet which I forgot to look through lol). I arrived at 7:30AM and there were only about 15 people in front of me which was great. Before this I was in a little group chat for about 2 weeks with some P1-ers as well and we agreed to do rotations so all of us don’t have to stand in line all day. Be active on the facebook group for the KCON event so you can organize a gc! And we can leave for engagements as well. My sister was also a huge player in this since she had a P2 seated and was willing to stand in line as I attended the Seventeen engagement (x). So a BIG S/O to her ;u;
People seemed to have stood in line in waves. A lot of people didn’t show until after 10AM, but by noon there were about 50-100 people in line. After all the engagements were done (mainly the svt and btob ones), more people joined the line.
Schedule changes:
KCON did change the schedule of the fan engagements sometimes but it wasn’t a big deal because they would be prompt about it and would notify us on the app (enable push notifs!).
Convention:
I can’t talk about this much since I didn’t really care about most of it. There were booths with merch. Merch includes kpop albums, posters, there was a whole gudetama merch booth lol, LINE merch, etc. There was a Toyota booth which had raffles every now and then to give out free engagements passes. They were also blasting music and this booth was where artists would make surprise appearances!! They include Eric Nam, Im Siwan, BtoB’s Changsub, etc. Those raffles would also be a chance for you to do a fansign with those artists. People were doing the dance-offs by this booth too.
There was a Melona bar booth with the most delicious Korean ice cream (you should definitely try this if you get a chance!). A Nongshim booth where they were selling Nongshim ramen (you can buy it raw or they make it for you as well).
There was a food court thing with stalls with overpriced food, but good food, including japchae, meaty stuffs, ddeokbeokki, bubble tea, kimchi bokkeumbap, etc. They also had American foods for spice intolerant people jk for people who just want American food.
Next to the check-in area they had panels like a fan-sign with JunCurryAhn, a panel with other YouTubers like K-Pop reactioners.
There was a big outdoor stage where they were doing a bunch of different events. Like someone was teaching beauty tricks like how to put on make-up. Some people were singing and doing covers. Mamamoo made a special appearance here on Day 1 and a cutely nervous-looking JunCurryAhn was doing a Q&A with them.
Concert:
I said I wasn’t going to talk about the concert, so let me tell you guys what happened before the actual concert started. They said they would let us in at 6PM. At about 5:30, everyone started getting up. The platinum line and P1 line were by each other like so:
After platinum all went inside, P1 GA started to go in. There was some pushing here and there, but it wasn’t anything aggressive. Of course security freaked out a little, but wtvr they should be used to this behavior by now. I left my backpack with my sister so all I had on me was my seventeen sign, a small wallet, my phone and my phone charger. I had to put those above my head and walked through the security box thingy. Honestly because I didn’t have a bag, I got to go past like 10 people and was one of the first five to make it through security. You have to go up an escalator and then there’s a table with a bunch of elderly ladies giving out wristbands. You MUST put one of these on to get entry into the pit.
UNFORTUNATELY THO. Once I reached the arena and climbed downstairs, the security saw our red wristbands and told us to go to the PLATINUM SECTION. Which was already 2-3 rows full on all sides of the stage. No way were we doing that, so we told them that we were P1. They told us to go back and get P1 (Yellow) wristbands. WE HAD TO GO BACK UPSTAIRS ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE TABLE TO GET THE RIGHT WRISTBANDS AND COME ALL THE WAY BACK DOWN?? HEYAHL NO. We ignored them and ran to the P1 entrance area, and the security people told us to go to platinum because of our wristbands AGAIN. We were yelling at this point and said that we were P1 but they would NOT BUDGE. So we decided to run back and when I reached the top of the stairs.... HOLY SHIZNIZ I AM STILL TRAUMATIZED AT THE STAMPEDE OF FANS I SAW COMING MY WAY. Along with a girl who said, “they don’t have any other wristbands!” I didn’t care anymore and RAN FOR IT back downstairs to the P1 area again where there was a tiny crowd of about 15 fans yelling at the security to let us through. Finally one security lady was like “Let them in!! Let them in!” At first the P1 security ppl STILL didn’t listen lmao, but then realized who was yelling that and let us in, calling us “savage” as we zoomed past. lololol
Anyway, I made it to the barricade, first row, a little to the right. If you saw a girl with a black shirt with DINO 99 in the back, that was me.
Nothing amazing happened the first day besides The8 noticing my fansign and waving at it lol. ALSO Dynamic Duo is littttt. They got the crowd (especially the pit) RLY hyped up. And because me and the girl next to me were cheering so loudly and jamming hard, Choiza came to us a lot and rapped to us 8)

After the concert, we waved goodbye as they left in their vans back to the hotel.
KCON DAY 2:
So I wanted to get to the venue by like 6:30 this day, but I woke up at around 6 and felt so dead. So I decided I’d rather be in good condition for the engagements (since I had a hi touch with Eric this day too), so I slept some more. We reached the venue by 8AM which isn’t too bad. There were about 40 people in front of us. I made buddies with the two girls in front of me in line and since they had a BTS engagement and my sis and I had DAY6, we decided to cover for each other and hold spots. Shout out to those wonderful people <3
The Eric hi-touch (X) was the first artist engagement this day, so I went to that and aaaaah he’s so cute ;~; I was the first person in line (#paranoidAF) to this. The engagement started at 12:00, they let people in at 11:30, I stood in line at 9 lmao. I already saw about 10 people in line for the audience area tho. I got to the first row, right in the middle since the whole area was empty save the staff/security. They gave out free LINE pillow plush thingies to part of the front row.
One complaint about this though, it was like late 80s/90s on both days of the con and there was NO SHADE for ANYTHING. And you had to stand in a line for everything, the concert, engagements, the food, to buy merch, check-in if you didn’t do the early bird, EVERYTHING. If you wanted a good spot for the engagement, you had to be in the line for like 2 hours for the popular artists. I’d recommend bringing an umbrella and wear sunscreen.

Line and pre-concert:
Can’t go a day at KCON without having a P1 GA Incident of the day!
This mess tho, lemme explain: I decided to go to the red carpet this day just to see what it was like and I got to see Eric, Mamamoo and DAY6 before I decided to leave (srz bts) cause it was past 5:30 which was when people started getting up in line the day before.
Platinum went in first again. And SUDDENLY out of nowhere, these people who were way behind us in line came to the side and said they had P1 and wanted to enter. And this DUM AF security dude naively let them in smh. So OFC the people who got here at 4-5AM started shouting at the security and said they were there first and can’t let people in who came in 5 hours after them!!! But security was just like o.O and continued to unfairly let those people in. So the 4-5AM people forced opened the door and aggressively pushed their way through (and I understand this and commend their behavior cuz I was pissed af too). Then the old security dude was standing there and decided to spend some time lecturing us on our rowdy behavior W.T.F. A younger security lady behind him was like “yo just let them in!” So we went in and again saved some time since I had no bag. The wristband thing was better organized today, but damn ARMYs be CRAYZAY. They were pushing and shoving so much and this one girl’s ARMY Bomb lightstick dropped and broke :( I didn’t have to move at all I just got carried through the line for the wristbands in the current of ARMYs LOL.
I made it to the barricade again but barely. I was standing by the people who I was in line with. I only had a tiny bit of the barricade to hold onto, but the girls scooted over a little more to let me have more room. ;u; Eventually I was able to rest on the barricade completely from when people kept turning around to see rapmon on the stage behind us lel
In today’s concert, I was able get Jungkook’s attention by jamming and making direct eye contact with him and he jammed so hard with me for a few seconds and was smiling. (tip: do not have a phone in your face if you want idols to notice you cuz that’s what the people on either side of me were doing). In the ending stage, I put my phone down again and Hwasa waved to me twice! The first time it was to my general area (though we made eye contact), the second time it was to me cause I was waving and acting like a crazy person, so she was laughing at me lmao she’s so cute tho ;;;;
One tiny complaint tho... Don’t just go to KCON only for ONE group. I’m not gonna call out names but cougharmyscough even if you only care about one group, try and ATTEMPT to show your support for the other groups too. I’m so disappointed by the very little amount of support and cheers groups like BtoB got at the concert. I was there for all artists groups, especially on the second day. I loved every single artist and knew almost all their songs. Even if I didn’t, I would cheer and be hyped up. I turned around every now and then and a lot of of y’all seated people weren’t filming OR standing up OR had a SINGLE smile on your faces. Like are you here for a concert or a Shakespeare play? I say that a lot, but come on. The fact that MULTIPLE artists had to tell you guys to get up out of your seats.... And don’t say you’ve been standing in the hot sun all day, so did the GA people and idk about the others, but the P1 pit was LIT AF and every time I turned around I saw people with their hands in the air and cheering. If we hot, sweaty, tired fans can be energized, so can you. There are quite a few VCRs, moments when the MCs come out and you can sit down then! But if you’re physically capable, please have some respect for the artists.
Stuff to bring to KCON:
- Umbrella/parasol
- Multiple bottles of water (4 should be enough for one person for one day)
- A small bag to hold your stuff
- $80-100 (if you’re a big spender and plan on buying merch, then $200+, but we were able to get by on $80 for just food in the 3 days of KCON)
- Sunscreen if you tan easily
- Some granola/protein bars and vitamins to keep you full so you don’t waste money on food
- Someone to depend on to hold your spot in line (be it family member, friend, a seated ticket holder) and also take your bag so you can skip bag checks at engagements and the concert

All in all, it was a really fun experience and I’d recommend P1 GA to ANYONE. I’m sure even the non first row got an amazing view. I’d do this again anytime. Maybe if I don’t know the artists that well I’d try to get a P1 or P2 seated just so I don’t have to stand in line for 13+ hours. But for the artists that came it was MORE THAN worth it.
SHINee in Chicago Fanmeet [Rosemont Theatre] - Fan Account
Since it’s been a few days already, my memory is a little faded, but I wrote down as much as I remembered. I also recorded most of the fanmeet, parts of which I posted on my yt channel.
Pre-Fanmeet:
Since I live in Virginia, my sister and I snagged a flight for Chicago the night before the fanmeet so we could have the next day to sight-see a little before the fanmeet. (Chicago is such a clean, nice place!! Very unlike the “downtowns” I’ve seen)
The fanmeet started at 7PM but since it’s an all-seated venue (Rosemont Theatre) my friends and I didn’t think it was any rush to get there early. We spent the day roaming around Chicago and planned to get to the venue by 5:30 but because of traffic on the way we didn’t get there until 6. At about 5PM I tweeted someone asking how long the line was and it was about 200 people. By 6, there were probably at least 1000 people in front of us. But all 5 of us made it inside the venue in time for the fanmeet to begin (so did the majority of the audience).
So once we got to the venue, I stood in line. People were passing fan-merch out and selling things (pearl-aqua balloons, lightsticks, name-tags, fans with the members’ names on them, etc.). We also got a banner for the fan project.

My sister and her friend went to go pick up the SubKulture SHINee lightsticks we had pre-ordered. They look like this:
The line started moving by 5:30ish and actually never really stopped moving so I got inside within 5-10 minutes. They scanned your ticket and then there was a bag check for people with large bags, but none for my purse (9 x 2 x 6 in.). They also had a box of aqua-colored glowsticks at the bag check and the security dude said to take one. There were 5-6 doors from which you can enter the theatre and also stairs leading to the balcony area. If you’re in a rush, pay attention to the signs next to the doors which indicate which sections those doors are for! Each set of doors has another line (also fast-moving). The ushers will not let you through if you’re in the wrong set of doors, but will politely indicate which line to stand in.
I eventually made my way to my seat (section 107, Row K, Seat 1) by 6:30ish. They played some SHINee songs while the audience waited including Runaway, Love Sick (they played this 3-4 times in a row for some reason, it’s still stuck in my head bc of this), Sherlock, Dream Girl, etc. The fan chants were already really loud for these LOL. Most people were seated by 6:50, but at this point I stopped checking the time because I was too excited.
Fanmeet:
It started at ~7:20. I won’t describe this in detail - you can see most of the fanmeet in fancams on youtube!
Before the fanmeet, I read on fan accounts for EXO in Rosemont that the security was really tight and people trying to film with their phones got kicked out immediately. So I didn’t bother to fully charge my phone. But I did bring an extra portable phone charger just in case! And I’m so glad I did because the security was SUPER CHILL. I was cautious the first few seconds of the first song. But then after I saw people with their phones out and the security just looking and walking past, I started filming with mine and pretty much filmed the whole fanmeet - at least every part that SHINee showed up in. until midway through View when my phone started dying and the camera refused to operate on 5% charge even while plugged in to the charger rip.

Was such a fun concert, I was hesitant on wanting to fly to another state to see SHINee - this was the first time I’ve ever done that for a concert, and I was really out of touch with them in general. I did follow their releases and most of their albums, but LEMME TELL Y’ALL. SHINEE WAS ADORABLY BRILLIANT ON STAGE. They shone so strong and especially Onew and Minho were so cute they were so sweet to the fans. I was Minho biased so I had this placard that my sister made and he did glance over a few times in my general direction!

Keep in mind that I did not raise that placard way above my ahead and obstruct people’s views behind me (like I saw some people doing) - I just raised it right in front of my head. I’m above average in height (5′7″) and the floor was also at an incline, so people could still see above my head. I didn’t care if my face made it in because you definitely wouldn’t be able to see it or find it in these group pics, so I tried to get the poster in and it made it! :D
Also another thing: Jonghyun, Key, and Taemin were also EXTREMELY touched to see so many fans. And that fan project with the banners was a HUGE SUCCESS! Jonghyun reached out into the fans and took one of the banners with him ;u;
The only thing that upset me about the concert was during Sherlock, there were two ridiculous fans that decided to leave the fanmeet right then who were in my row. So I missed part of the song, but only 20-30 seconds so it was okay.
I was actually really sad to see them leave, it felt like the fanmeet was 10 minutes long. Even though I was filming for a lot of it, I was cheering so hard and waving my lightstick even if my arms were in pain. Key stuck around for a bit longer than the other members and promised that they would be back, so I hope they will! ;---;
It was an awesome experience and I don’t regret going or spending so much money that I did for them because it was completely worth it.

I’ve said this to my non-techie friends countless times. It’s no secret that being able to code makes you a better job applicant, and a better entrepreneur. Hell, one techie taught a homeless man to code and now that man is making his first mobile application.
Learning to code elevates your professional life, and makes you more knowledgeable about the massive changes taking place in the technology sector that are poised to have an immense influence on human life.
(note: yes I realize that 3/5 of those links were Google projects)
But most folks are intimidated by coding. And it does seem intimidating at first. But peel away the obscurity and the difficulty, and you start to learn that coding, at least at its basic level, is a very manageable, learnable skill.
There are a lot of resources out there to teach you. I’ve found a couple to be particularly successful. Here’s my list of resources for learning to code, sorted by difficulty:
Novice
Never written a line of code before? No worries. Just visit one of these fine resources and follow their high-level tutorials. You won’t get into the nitty-gritty, but don’t worry about it for now:

Intermediate
Now that you’ve gone through a handful of basic tutorials, it’s time to learn the fundamentals of actual, real-life coding problems. I’ve found these resources to be solid:

Difficult
If you’re here, you’re capable of building things. You know the primitives. You know the logic control statements. You’re ready to start making real stuff take shape. Here are some different types of resources to turn you from someone who knows how to code, into a full-fledged programmer.
Programming problems
Sometimes, the challenges in programming aren’t how to make a language do a task, but just how to do the task in general. Like how to find an item in a very large, sorted list, without checking each element. Here are some resources for those types of problems

Web Applications
If you learned Python, Django is an amazing platform for creating quick-and-easy web applications. I’d highly suggest the tutorial - it’s one of the best I’ve ever used, and you have a web app up and running in less than an hour.
Django Tutorial
I’ve never used Rails, but it’s a very popular and powerful framework for creating web applications using Ruby. I’d suggest going through their guide to start getting down-and-dirty with Rails development.
Rails Guide
If you know PHP, there’s an ocean of good stuff out there for you to learn how to make a full-fledged web application. Frameworks do a lot of work for you, and provide quick and easy guides to get up and running. I’d suggest the following:

If there’s one point I wanted to get across, it’s that it is easier than ever to learn to code. There are resources on every corner of the internet for potential programmers, and the benefits of learning even just the basics are monumental.
