“It is surely by chance that in the course of my life several men who have spent time in my company and with whom I’ve enjoyed discussions have gone insane.”
— Paul Gauguin, 1903, writing his account on the famous final days spent living with Vincent Van Gogh.
I see the influence of Game of Thrones in Shingeki no Kyojin. Eren at the end, was a slave of fate and I think the Attack Titan is the one acting by itself the whole time and that’s why Eren doesn’t know why he didn’t stop. This reminds me of Bran Stark being a “slave” to the knowledge of the Three Eyed Raven and he ends up losing himself. And is not just this, Ymir loving King Fritz reminds me of Rhaegar and Lyanna who was not kidnapped and raped, but she was in love with the Targaryen the whole time. I expected the manga to have an original ending and not being a copy of other stories, that’s why I’m kind of disappointed. I guess this happens when the author gets influenced a lot. I enjoyed the ride but many things weren’t explained and others were rushed and forced. Mikasa completely isolated many years after Eren died is ridiculous and fucked up, but I’m aware Japanese people have this sick mentality towards women. Maybe that’s the reason Historia ended up marrying a bully and Ymir falling in love with her rapist. This story will not even be in my top 10 stories of all time because as I said, copying others plots and characters from others stories is cheap and lazy.
