i talk about boots for a while
SO, today is the first official day of #SUMMERVACAY2K18. i spent the entire day lying in bed while trying not to throw up, and i want you to know that i had a totally bangin' time. because of that though, there is no REAL news from today, but i do have a new obsession (that began last nite)...
this is a good song and i don't know why everyone decided to forget about it. i was also born in 2001.
... which is with WINKLEPICKERS. those scarily pointy and grinch-like, yet also amazing trad goth sneaks. OK, i know they're really not even close to sneakers, but "sneaks" is a fun word. i am especially enamored with this heeled version from the gothic shoe company:

i'm going to be honest here, in practice i tend to lean towards the preppier side of the goth-prep spectrum. i say bagel with a weird accent, i stan stan smiths, i drink kefir. heck, somebody once called me "sweater child." i'm much closer to "grandpa that thinks the new yorker comics are hilarious" than "spooky coolgirl at the batcave in the 80s." on the scale of goth to prep, i'd say i'm 25% goth and 75% prep. kind of like a reverse robert smith (by the way, i just realized robert smith looks like a grandma, but that's a post for another day).
HOWEVER, i'm so in love with these boots, man. they're like morning phase era beck's yves saint laurent boots infused with the perfect amount of old-school goth. i know, not very grandpa-y, but oh well. i'm already imagining what i would wear with these. here's what i've come up with so far:
1. not like i own or will ever own this this $2,500 gucci dress, but THIS $2,500 gucci dress.
pair with sheer black tights or socks and some sort of translucent rose plastic accessory, as shown in the "how 2 style." gucci suggests sunnies, but i suggest an über painful plastic headband. yr call.
2. hear me out on this one... this h&m swimsuit? YES?? IS THIS BEACH-GOTH???
tie this older brother chore coat around yr waist and throw on some SHEER SOCKS. the lük, i guess.
3. i tried to find something from lily pulitzer that might go with these boots for the ultimate (yet minimal) goth/prep juxtaposition, but those prints... oof. so here's a cute dress from jcrew, which, as you know, is still fairly preppy.
i hope that by this point you've already ordered these off of amazon, because you're going to need them.
so as you can see, i think i just fell in love with sheer socks winklepickers + feminine, floral, and kinda preppy = yes. honestly, alexa chung could've told you that. :-/ but i think that that's all i have to say about them. they are cool. i wish i had a pair but i am cheap. maybe for christmas!
