i completely understand your stance on engagement... likes are great but comments reblogs and feedback is always so much better and I feel like (esp with ateez) that most kpop fic these days is smut which pmo because there is no way that people look at these concepts and lore and only think abt getting freaky ... honestly I wanna make my debut in atinyblr so bad but im scared that if I post a long foc with no smut that means no one is going to read it

i literally have nothing against smut. i read smut occasionally and enjoy it. i have even written a handful of smut works myself. it’s just that i think that people who want to write fics of different genres that are lengthy and don’t contain smut are always, always discouraged by the lack of feedback on said works.
please, if you want to make a debut, you should! i always advise new writers to not worry about engagement and feedback especially in the beginning, that audience will grow, etc. for those who don’t want smut to be their main genre, i stress the importance of writing for your own enjoyment some more because honestly, for a fandom like ateez’s which has become smut-centric when we look at genres, you won’t get the engagement that you desire. keep your expectations minimal and you will be happy.
it’s a wonder that i have persevered lmao and when i get messages from writers that my lengthy and plot-driven fics inspire them to write something similar, it makes me want to stay and keep writing these lengthy fics! i genuinely always have so much fun being unrestricted with myself in terms of length and creativity. the planning part and creating multiple levels of layers and plot twists makes me feel alive.
i hope you and other writers who want to write lengthy plot-driven fics take this as a sign to write! in fact, everyone should write whatever they want, be it short, long, smut or no smut, plot or no plot. we just need to appreciate each other more! all writers deserve appreciation no matter what they write 🫶
