things between elijah and briar had always been... complicated. sometimes, when elijah was around his childhood enemy, he still felt like he was a teenager, unable to properly express the jumbled mess of feelings inside his heart. being given a chance to be his classmate once again, elijah wondered if perhaps this time things could be... different. feeling a little shy, he approached the other where he was sitting and cleared his throat to get his attention. " i know we've always competed with each other, but i was wondering if... maybe you would like to do this group project with me? " he paused for a moment, feeling even shyer about it after saying it and quickly speaking again in an attempt to hide it. " you know, since i don't really know many people here yet. "

elijah hwang was someone briar had every intention of leaving behind. maybe they'd run into each other during holidays or add each other on linkedin and passive aggressively comment on each other's posts with congratulations that weren't quite sincere, but instead ... they're classmates again, and briar has to make a decision when elijah stands in front of him, watching him speak with an expression that's hard to read. he's an adult, and the complicated feelings he has should be dealt with more maturely, right? "i didn't peg you as the type to have any problems being social," he comments, tapping his pen against his notebook. "but i guess if you want to use me as a safety blanket, by all means." he's neglecting to mention that he still hasn't really made a lot of friends yet and was probably going to just do the project alone. details, really.

did seunghyun still want to jump off a tall building due to everything that had happened earlier that day? absolutely. after all, not a lot of people could say they had successfully managed to ruin the filming of a slasher movie because they didn't notice all the camera crew and decided to play hero. god, just thinking about it made seunghyun want to disappear and never come back, but that was not possible. no, he couldn't even go home after making a fool of himself like that — he had to stay and finish his shift still. life truly was unfair.

still, seeing the person he had wrongfully tried to help after the filming seemed to have wrapped up, seunghyun couldn't help feeling like he should say something — even if his cheeks were a little pink due to how embarrassed he felt. " h—hi, uh... it's... it's bastian, right? your name. "

"ah, my savior!" comes the immediate quip, dimple flashing as bastian grins at the other. he's teasing, yes, but honestly, the entire thing was so endearing to him (and a little amusing) that he just can't help it. it's not the first time someone has seen him covered in blood running from a masked killer and not noticed the cameras, but they usually just start running too. people don't usually try to save bastian too, which ... hey ... that's kinda messed up.

"yeah, bastian. kwon sanghoon if you prefer my korean name, but everyone just calls me bastian." technically, sebastian, but who wants to get full named by the cute boy who tried to save their life? not bastian.
