they’re not just “a band.” they are a talented up and coming band from New Jersey who released their self-titled album almost two months ago on July 15, 2016.  you can listen to their new album on Spotify and purchase it on i-tunes. 

tonight, Sept 9, they are playing in New Brunswick, NJ at Court Tavern at 12:30AM and they are also playing in Hoboken, NJ at Maxwell’s at 9PM so if you’re free tonight or free in a couple of weeks, check them out!

DANIELA ANDRADE

everyone of her songs are acoustic and absolutely breathtaking.  this song, “Something to Say,” is off of her last album Things We’ve Said.  she’s released 3 albums within the past couple of years with the first being a set of cover songs.  there are a bunch of covers that she’s done that can be seen on her youtube channel along with her original tracks. if you like artists like Anna Nalick and Regina Spektor then this is your match.

ALESSIA CARA

by now you’ve probably heard this song on the radio a few times and with good reason - this young woman is seriously talented.  she’s a 19 year old singer/songwriter from Toronto, Canada whose soulful voice is reminiscent of the remarkable Amy Winehouse.  even though this is the only song she’s released, she’s done multiple covers on her youtube channel and its safe to say that since she’s signed to a major record label, Def Jam Recordings, this is the first of many great songs to come.

this week we’re stepping out of the United States to shed some light on talent from the country above: Canada.  many well-known artists have come from Canada, such as Neil Young, Alanis Morissette, and Drake so these two artists have been added to join the rest of them.  a soulful, blues/r&b singer and another singer that is completely raw with acoustics? a necessary addition to SOUL DRIVE.

CIVIL TWILIGHT, last night at Bowery Ballroom. 

they've never played at Bowery as a headliner before, until last night. this milestone in their career as a band is definitely a big one and it showed throughout their entire performance - smiling, laughing, expressing their happiness and gratitude, and as usual, each song performed more heartfelt and passionate than the one before. artists like Sleater-Kinney, Kanye West, and Queens of the Stone Age have played at Bowery ballroom so its a well-known, historic venue that’s truly a dream location for any artist.

Civil Twilight - this band never seizes to amaze me. never. when you go to see a band perform, you'd expect some of the songs to sound exactly like it was on the album, especially the classics. ...not Civil Twilight. the songs they played from their first and second album sounded nothing like the original tracks and that's what makes them and their music extraordinary. they took them apart and recreated their sounds to be completely different; it's the perfect way to make fans fall in love with you and the track all over again. also, a reminder of their creative talent-true artists. 

 if they're coming to a city near you? I'd go out of my way to see them. they're worth the effort, money and time. trust me. it's an unforgettable experience.

their third album, Story of an Immigrant, released last Friday on July 10, 2015.  the album features 11 new tracks, including their two hit singles “Story of an Immigrant” and “Holy Dove.”  tonight they’re having an album release show in New York, NY at Bowery Ballroom so if you’re in the area or live by a bus/car/train ride away, come!  they’re absolutely incredible live.

this will be SOUL DRIVE’s fourth time seeing them so come join us!

LIL JOE & THE ILL PICARDS

this is an old school band from Jersey City, NJ that has some funk and soul in them.  they play around the downtown jersey city/hoboken area just like here, live at Finnegan’s so try and catch ‘em!  they’ve played some covers as well, like “No Woman No Cry” from Bob Marley.

FISCAL CLIFF

in Hoboken, NJ, right across from NY, is this indie rock band.  they’ve been together for almost 3 years and released 3 albums within the past 2 years, one of which is a live session at 9 Lives Studio.  instrumentally, they sound similar to 311, and Dave Matthews Band, but to get your own perspective and to learn more about them, watch this early video of them being interviewed by The Art Interview Project.

CHIMES

this indie, psychedelic band is from New York, NY.  this song, “Total Sunflower,” comes from their album Psychic Slack that was released about a year ago in September 2014 along with the track “Rinso.”  they’re the kind of band that you’d listen to if you wanna cut lose, dance a little or completely relax.  

if you like bands like The Brian Jonestown Massacre or The Cranberries this is your band.

NJ and NY, a melting pot filled with people of different races, ethnicities, and cultures.  these new additions to SOUL DRIVE reflect the melting pot of each of these states, as these three bands have completely different sounds from one another.  indie, psychedelic, and funk - pick your favorite remedy.

Foo Fighters last night at Citi Field in New York, NY. 

this band doesn’t need an introduction. they’ve been together for over 2 decades with classic hits created along the way and a stage presence that you’ll never forget. the Foo Fighters embody the exact thing that SOUL DRIVE attempts to revive: the energy, time, and hard work of bands that are truly passionate about their music. 

this was SOUL DRIVE’s third time seeing them and hopefully anyone who is seeing them tonight, in a couple of days or plan to make it a point to see them in the future, will have an unforgettable experience as well.

SUNNY GANG

rap and punk music combined created the Beastie Boys decades ago, but its most recent modernized creation began on February 2012 in Newark, NJ...SUNNY GANG.  this live footage speaks for itself on their energy, sound, and talent.  their ReadyMeRiot! - EP released just 8 months ago on SoundCloud so check it out!

PARTY COPS

another punk rock band, but further east coast - New Jersey.  they’re intense, and passionate - very straightforward.  their viewers and listeners know who they are immediately following a few seconds of playing.  they’ve been playing together since 2013, but their latest album, Knife Licker, was released May 2014 so hopefully a new album will be released soon!
