“ saving people, hunting things, the family business ”
this blog is going to be put on an undefined hiatus!
irl and other blogs have more of my attention, and things for the babs on this blog have been quiet for awhile. the break is currently undefined. i will make a new announcement when the hiatus ends. feel free to catch me on disco @ groveofchaos (tell me who you are!)
Adam is the very first human male, simultaneously created with Lilith and then left to their own devices in the Garden of Eden. Being for the most part unaware of many things, the two humans spent most of their time in each other’s company, which led to eventual fighting. A lot of fighting, sometimes. But they always made up about it, fights often ending as quickly as they began, and living continued contented.
Until one day it seemed Lilith had taken it too far, and she was to be torn away from Eden ( from Adam ). Despite being told by Him that it was for the best, the first man couldn’t agree. The seeds of doubt are planted in this moment.
Incredibly distraught over losing Lilith once she had been exiled from the Garden, Adam for some time lost a good deal of his usual energy, finding himself unbearably lonely no matter what he did. He even took notice of the angel guarding Eden, though he had the vague understanding he probably should not know the other was there. He never did ask why he felt so. Eventually, his Father seemed to take some sort of pity on the human when he had fallen asleep, because one day he woke to a new companion beside him.
Eve.
She was less argumentative with him than Lilith, but not really any more agreeable. Just more…quiet about it. Still, his spirits quickly rose with the new company, and he even forgot about the guardian outside the Garden, the information falling to the back of his mind as no longer important because he was no longer alone.
Existence was happy and content with her until the Apple. The one rule they really had, and out of a mixture of curiosity and wanting to please Eve, he followed in her choice to take the forbidden fruit. He wasn’t willing to risk being left alone again. When they were removed from the Garden because of it, Eve was heartbroken because it was home. Adam was furious. He was the one who convinced her to fight to return to their home, the strongest of their children to join the fight.
He became a warrior, falling in beside his family to try taking back what had until now been theirs. It was, in hindsight, very foolish, and resulted in many deaths of their children despite the few angels they were able to fight back against. This was the spark for the civil war between angels, some siding with Lucifer and his choice, some with Michael, and a select few with the two humans who had been corrupted and left closer to being angels than ever.
The numbers were not worth the trade, and the secondary rebellion within Heaven was quickly hushed up and hidden away. While Eve and their children were banned to Purgatory, Adam was thrown into the Cage and branded for his shame. To prevent him from further planning with Eve or finding Lilith again, to keep his rebellion sealed away as a secret and burying the truth as easily as they had been removed from the Garden.
I feel like I just moved a mountain with my bare hands.

Dean Winchester, One Moment Per Episode ➤ 6.19 Mommy Dearest
To some extent, Piper has always been in the life. Her parents were both hunters when they met, and had agreed long before ever getting married that they wouldn’t hide the truth from their children. So she ( along with her twin sister Angela ) learned some of the basics along the way. They were practicing sigils along with the alphabet, taught how to use salt and holy water, and there were various items of iron around the house either girl could use if need be.
This meant that Piper never really got the “there’s no monster under the bed” talk. The girls instead got the “here’s how to tell if there’s really a monster” talk. It was leveled down because they were young, but the truth was there. It helped her feel confident rather than scared, and she understood that on occasions when one of their parents left for a " trip " somewhere, it was to protect people from monsters.
However it also meant knowing that when her mother hid her in a closet behind a line of salt that it was a very real monster that threatened their family. A real monster who killed her father. A real monster who ended the contented life they had been building and sending the survivors on a neverending journey on the road.
Despite everything, the girls were kept in school as they travelled. Angela adapted much faster to that, striving for good grades and not missing classes, enjoying making connections with people. Piper sat through it because she had to, but she didn’t want to like it, because that might get taken away too. She got good at the lessons for becoming a better hunter though, taking them completely to heart knowing she didn’t really want to do much else. Once high school was done, so was her pursuit of education.
As they got older, mom starts going away for longer hunts. Eventually it’s just the girls as a team; Piper really doesn’t even mind. Not many siblings can work together and still be best friends, certainly not in this line of work, and it isn’t something she ever takes for granted no matter the amount of teasing otherwise. She doesn’t start worrying until something dangerous comes up.
Angela, for whatever reason, was easy to possess.
That hunt was Piper’s first real experience dealing with a demon and she luckily had an exorcism memorized well enough to make the incident short-lived, but it left both girls shaken. She started trying everything to prevent it from occurring again, from charms to sigils. Eventually, everything failed. Piper’s last real chance to get an explanation why was gone with the Roadhouse fire, their mother among the victims. It came to a head several years later, some kind of apocalyptic bullshit because demons were everywhere. Maybe it was too much. Maybe the exorcism didn’t work properly. Maybe the demon was more powerful than they thought; whatever the case, Angela was left dead after. Piper tried for weeks, months, to get her back. But no demons were taking the deal, and no one else seemed to be listening.
Piper was, for the first time in her life, alone.
