En Del Av Mitt Hjärta - Tomas Ledin - Tillfälligheternas Spel (1990)

Tomas Ledin has been an active musician in Sweden since the 1970′s, but got his breakthrough 1980 when he won the Swedish nationals for Eurovision. He’s continued making music ever since, mainly in Swedish singer/songwriter tradition, and has made many, many nationally beloved songs.

En Del Av Mitt Hjärta (lit. “A Part of My Heart”) won the Swedish Grammy for “Song of The Year” in 1990, and tells about the narrator meeting an old lover and reminiscing about their past together, concluding that “a part of my heart will always beat for you”.

Tårarna i Halsen - Tjuvjakt - Pojkvän (2017)

Tjuvjakt is a hip hop group from Stockholm’s northern suburbs, they’ve been active since 2012 but had their breakthrough mid 2017 with the single Tårarna i Halsen. The accompanying album was praised for it’s cheerful sound and colourful lyrics. The band carries some clear influences from the beloved hip hop duo Snook, active during the 90′s and 00′s.

Alright So

Initial purpose of this blog was to provide tumblr with easily accessible tracks by Swedish artists through their own audio system.

HOWEVER they decided that nah (because of copyright issues (which is understandable)) so a LOT of the tracks I want to upload just don’t work any more and are instead redirected to Spotify; I know a lot of people don’t have Spotify, and also that a fair number of Swedish musicians are location locked, however. Thus: not a suitable option.

I’m going to try and upload MP3 tracks best I can, but likely I’ll just go over entirely to youtube.

Or maybe I just won’t, and this blog will remain dead.

You posted the sped up version of Caramell, not the original, which is much slower paced and not high pitched.

Only real 90′s children remember the pitched version of Caramelldansen.

So, anyway:

This blog only has like 100 followers, and I haven’t posted for literal years.

I still really like the concept, but fact is that since I first started this blog, tumblr has gotten a lot more restrictive on its audio files. Uploading mp3s isn’t as smooth, they get taken down frequently and are often blocked from upload to begin with. Instead, tumblr wants you to use Spotify, or Vimeo, or Soundcloud, or Youtube.

I’m not here to discuss the morality of spreading music (I recognize it’s fucked up in a lot of ways), but the crux of this is two.

One; people don’t listen to external audio posts and people don’t watch external videos. I haven’t been active for, again, literal years, but I still get notes on the daily. The on-site mp3 format is accessible, clean, and easy. I don’t fault anyone for preferring it over the Spotify or Soundcloud links (I do too; it meshes better with tumblr - and I say this as an avid Spotify fan), but it does raise the question if it’s even worth it for me to post music in a format that people won’t... really listen to. Even now, people only really reblog music they already know and like.

Two; regional blocking. Even if I would go for external audio/video, that would make the music a lot less accessible. Veronica Maggio have a good chunk of videos not available in the US.

Part of me wants to pick this blog back up - there’s just so much good music from this country that I want to share - though I am unsure if it’s at all viable.
