Are veggies the new sauce? I came home from work tonight on a tear to make something tasty for dinner. And what did that look like? 7 #veggies, prepared separately, all amazing! Plus a couple bbq chicken breasts on the grill...since it was lit anyway ☺️ Kale, carrots, broccoli prepared the usual way Plus Spinach with fancy lemon olive oil & salt Zucchini on the grill - my summer fave. With these i tested a new spicy pepper olive oil out of Spain...mouth watering Beautiful cherry tomatoes sliced in half, seasoned w pepper olive oil, salt, pepper and tossed on the grill in a tinfoil boat. These inspired me to boil me some pasta because the perfect sauce had just been created. I sit down to watch the grill w my homemade margarita and think how I used to judge my cooking by how little i knew about making sauces. After all, sauce creates flavor, pulls dishes together and gives food a layer of complexity that you can’t get by just pulling it out of the fridge and eating it as is. But these veggies, beautiful, savory, multi-dimensional, mouth watering veggies were good on their own or as a sauce for pasta. I may not know a lot about making my own sauces or roux but tonight I’m good w my veggies.

Tonight after dinner and just before a kitchen dance party to the beat of The Greatest Showman, I look over and see the cutest tweener sitting on the kitchen counter (as only a teenager can) and think it doesn’t get any better than this
