Big fan of Pentious' hat suddenly acting like cat ears. Just to highlight just how much of a wet kitten he is on a daily basis! :3c
"Jellicle cats can all rejoice!"
I watched the musical for the first time and got a bit caried away by these cats. I believe there are more arts to come, this here is more of a study of what my favourite character Munkustrap looks like! 🖤
I've seen various takes on Abel's grief, or lack thereof, going around, but one thing I haven't seen anyone point out is that Storyteller takes place about a month after Adam's death. And unlike Lute, Abel has a decent support system in Emily and St. Peter, so he's no doubt been able to better come to terms with his feelings about his dad's death, whatever they may be, at least enough to not make a scene during a very public meeting.
And yes, his "yepperoni," seems like a tone-deaf response, but I think he wasn't responding to what Sera said, but simply the fact that she gave him a command. That is, he would have said that regardless of how she'd phrased it. Abel is understandably non-confrontational, and this seems to have made him a bit of a people pleaser, hence his non-committal answer to Sera in the meeting, and why, when alone with Lute, he phrases his intention to take one of his dad's guitars as a request.
There's still a lot we don't know about Abel, and I'm very interested in seeing what direction his character takes as the season goes on.
Like You is an interesting song. Emily, Abel, and Peter sincerely want to make Sir Pentious feel welcome and happy. But in the process, end up make him feel worse. They end up being unintentionally condescending. Saying that "no one here is like [him]" is meant to make him feel special, but it makes him feel alone, like an other. He doesn't want all the sugary and saccharine stuff, he just wants to see his friends again, but he can't. It's Toxic Positivity: The Song.
"You speak of choices made by other voices / you can only atone once you speak with your own" God that line goes so hard. Goodness doesn't matter if you accept it based on someone else's orders, it only counts if you come to the decision yourself, based on your own dedication to knowing right from wrong. Honestly everything about that song is amazing but that line has me by the throat.
Sir pentious has grown so much since he has been in heaven
